i'm sure i am not the only one to have heard this come out of the mouths of my loved ones.

it's a very painful thing to hear, especially when it comes from the people like your own parents/family.

even after i've been told that, they would say "we'll just continue life without you.

They may be frightened about loss of status in their social group - which status is based on peddling Watchtowers and directing people to JWBorg and sitting through drivel at meetings.

hello, i've been lurking for quite some time here on this forum, reading a whole lot and i've finally made the courage to create an account as a form of escape and in hopes to be understood and not feel "mentally diseased".

little background on me, i am a born in but i consider myself a pimo (physically in mentally out).

i feel like i've always had doubts but these doubts would sink with the meetings and the assemblies and every other little thing that drowns any doubts a witness may have.

It's not easy "waking up" - especially when family are in and prepared to throw you under the lorry to "help you"!

Huge article(s) in Dutch media on JW child abuse

so today the well-respected and serious newspaper trouw.nl came with child abuse within the jw as their topmost frontpage article.. the articles are well researched and aim primarily at the dutch jw situation.. afaik at least on member of this forum assisted the newspaper with the articles.

Ex or Current Elder Question

so i have been inactive for about a year and a half.

been baptised for about 35 years.how long would it take before they give up on what i do with my life, for example, i celebrate all holidays now, and have even posted on social media pics of me and my family celebrating.

do they even care anymore?

At elders schools/CO visits we were told that after 2 to 3 years of inactivity (that is - from the point they have gone inactive which is from SIX months AFTER their last service report was logged) we would not have to chase after "inactive ones" and could hold any evidence in abeyance until/unless they started associating again.

But ... if they are seen as disturbing any jw's or contaminating the congregation then we should take action.

So it only takes one zealot to make a fuss on what they saw on faceache or twatter and it's investigate with a view to a judicial time.

Adultery will always be investigated if there is an "innocent mate" chomping at the bit for a scriptural ground for divorce.

Xmas lights and pumpkins on the porch will usually get an investigation too if you are known as a recent x-jw in the area.

If you don't want announcing them be discreet - especially on social media!

i was a window cleaner, i was at the time unemployed, homeless.

i had no education to be proud of (high school one a two b's rest c's) i was a jehovahs witness.

i had been a pioneer.

What happened in 1995?

i was born in 1984 so was only 9yo in 1995. i read on various posts on here and on other websites about false expectations about 1975 and 1995. i'm aware of the 1975 failure but what was said in 1995?.

That last post of LongHairGal is right on the money.

Looking back it was from that point on (late 1990's) the only people (besides born-ins) that "progressed" to becoming JW's were the troubled, depressed and frankly, mental types. This was explained "round my way" as those "sighing and crying".

The old school core is dying off or moving into care homes. We are left with the "born-in" generation who don't remember 1995 to run the show - badly - and mainly older sisters (who live a bit longer than men on average) awaiting the resurrection.

What a shabby mess the JW religion is.

It's like a turd rolled in glitter.
