This week's "Give Us Your Money" meeting item.
by freddo inif you went to it, (or go later this week) how was it handled?
just the video or some commentary too?.
i have heard of a few negative comments from some that attended - one jw even openly said to me "not very encouraging, all they go on about is money lately" and another (a serving elder, no less) said "someone's got to pay for all those lawsuits".

Love the Freddo references!
NBD said: "Wow I wish I was in your congregation."
To be totally accurate - the elder I quoted was in another cong. that shares the hall where they had the same item - and our conversation was prompted by me asking him why we kept on having all these money items.

(He didn't say "child abuse" but I'm sure that is what he meant)
Yet another said "I haven't donated for months and I wont start now!"
Of course everyone else claps and nods their heads, but this constant money talk is causing a few ripples.

Another dub explanation was that James, John and Peter "saw Jesus in all his glory" at the transfiguration which was "representative" of his return.

Dietary Quirks Among JWs
by millie210 ini recently had to accompany an older family member out of state to a family reunion.
it was a big reunion and not much was overtly made of the fact that i am "misguided" and not attending meetings (lost soul that i am) which was nice.
the thing i noticed that i was most struck by was all the dietary quirks in evidence during our 3 days together.

Just quoting my earlier post (plus an edit afterwards) : "As a broadbrush comment I find the more highly strung someone is the more likely they are to be high on the special dietary curve."
Edit: Also the more highly strung someone is the more likely they will have given me a down vote for the above comment.

by Sorry inyup, you read right.
despite other personal turmoil that needs to be addressed, my family has decided to go nuts over halloween decorations being "too close" to our yard.
a new family just moved in next door; their kids are super young.

Looks like they'll have to build a fence so that there is a clear demarcation!
Another "fine witness" in la-la land!
