JW Cartoons
by FinalFlame ini've recently watched the jw cartoons centered around teaching young kids the doctrines of this faith.
while i no longer practice any faith, i am well versed in this one.
i must say, these cartoons are in bad, bad taste.

JWs studying with a neighbor: what should I do?
by john.prestor inso let me introduce myself first: i've lurked here for years because i'm working on a long-term research project concerning jehovah's witnesses and i've collected data from this site (seriously, you guys are awesome, i've learned so much from this forum i never would have learned otherwise).
i've also collected data at multiple kingdom halls and read scholarly works on jehovah's witnesses and non-scholarly works as well (e.g., crisis of conscience).
so i have a pretty good sense of jehovah's witnesses even though i was not raised in this faith nor did i ever join up.

Knock the door and speak with her - you ain't ruining her life are you? Far from it.
"Hi - I'm (name) your neighbour and live (across the hall/number 9/upstairs etc) this might seem strange but I noticed Jehovah's Witnesses were calling on you - I know it's none of my business (lift hand and look down) whatsoever but (wide open handed gesture) my background forced me to just say - "please be wary" and check the structure behind the nice facade. I don't want to make you uncomfortable so just google Jehovah's Witnesses News is my respectful suggestion. That's all I wanted to say really."
Lot's of open handed gestures - backing away as you finish the conversation so she has to call you back if she wants to talk more.

Superb journalism of the highest quality - that final paragraph hit ME like a ton of bricks too. I wonder if the mannequins are Caleb and Sophia?

Learning New Words
by compound complex ingreetings, fellow lexophiles:.
last night, i watched a cool road movie, the trip, with steve coogan and rob brydon.
they were counseled by steve's dad to take an "anticlockwise" route home, rather than the clockwise one steve had proposed.

Are You Proud of Your Country?
by snugglebunny insome people are of the opinion that it doesn't make any sense to be proud of one's nationality because we had nothing to do with where we were born.
the decision wasn't ours.
they opine that it's ludicrous to be proud of our countries' prior achievements if we had no part in those achievements because we weren't even around then.

In answer to your original question. It could be a lot worse.
I think in general terms "it" tries to do the right thing and in politics anywhere between centre left and centre right have a majority of decent people trying to serve the country.
I also think the younger generation (William, Kate and Harry) of Royals seem decent folk who connect with the public at large far better than Charles, Andrew, Anne and Edward did.

Hello 2RM - I had a quick look at your profile and you said you joined this forum 4 years ago and I see this is your second post.
The majority posting here are either ex JW's - booted out JW's - JW's that are nominally JW's for fear of being shunned by their loved ones if they formally leave JW's - doubting JW's and a very few "fully in JW's" that like to prod the nest and run away when the answers and questions get too difficult.
So that being said I note you say your leaflet was from the Bristol UK branch. I beg to differ because the only branch in the UK is in London and what you probably have there is a local JW from one of the Bristol congregations - likely elderly and housebound who sends out leaflets in the belief that (likely she, possibly he) is doing Jehovah's will and joining in a "great shout of praise" and preaching "God's Kingdom".
For me - I was a JW elder, man and boy for 50 years plus who no longer believes that JW's have the answer to "Life's Big Questions".
In fact they cannot answer any questions like ...
If I join your cult, experience all the "love" and "kindness" and and serve "shoulder to shoulder" with you but later conscientiously choose to leave over ever changing doctrine or objectionable practices, will you shun me?
Why do you not report or encourage the reporting of child molesters when you learn of them in your congregations from your members?
Why are your accounts not open and free for all to see?
If Jesus condemned the pharisees for trying to hinder him from curing on the sabbath then why do you not allow blood transfusions when life is at stake?
Why are your women socially pressured not to wear trousers/slacks when attending your meetings or standing next to one of your carts in your preaching work. Why are your men not allowed to have a beard and give a talk at one of your regional assemblies when the bible tells us that men must not shave their beards off (Leviticus 19 v 27)
And why do you always preach the "End is Near" in direct contradiction of Luke 21 v 8.
Need I go on?
Thought not.
Welcome anyway to our happy band!

A.N.Z.A.C. Day 25th APRIL
by zeb inthe 25th april is the day australia and new zealand remember their war dead.. on the 25th april 1915 troops from many nations including australian and new zealanders landed on the shores of turkey.
the anzac forces at a place called gallipoli or galliboli by the turkish people.. the concept was to land move inland attack constantinople and there by force turkey out of the war (1914-1918) and bring it too a swift end.
the whole operation was a monumental stuff up with the anzacs being landed in the wrong place up against steep cliffs.

So much wrong with today's text....
by doubtfull1799 in"jehovah takes the initiative to bless his loyal servants.".
this statement is a contradiction or on oxymoron or something.... if they already had to demonstrate loyalty before he acted then he did not take the initiative!.
our faith is not complete unless we are convinced that jehovah will reward....yes faith involves the certain expectation of gods promised blessings.. so they condemn people for "serving to a date", the carrot if you like, and being disappointed when there blessings do not materialise at the promised time... yet say that the carrot is an important part of faith!!!.

"Jehovah`s Witnesses caught out cherry picking scriptures again and giving their own interpretations to it ?"
Too right smiddy - they even cherry pick part of the cherry picked verse to make it fit their agenda!
