It's a brilliant film ... well worth a drive to see.

Daniel Kokotajlo’s Apostasy enters UK Top 15 box office films
by steve2 infantastic news just in: daniel kokotajlo’s film apostasy about a jw family facing the blood issue and - ahem - a daughter who apostatises - was released late last week in the united kingdom.
even though it received limited release in its first weekend and is going to be in more cinemas this weekend, it has entered the top 15 films at no.
12 - a magnificent result for a highly acclaimed film made on a shoe string.

Hi Everyone. Answer to prayer countdown...
by Stumpy ini've been lurking for about 3 months now and thought i'd better finally sign up.
you have all been an immense help to me as i have come to realize that this isn't the truth so i want to say a great big thank you!
what a crazy, emotional ride it is to finally face the truth about the doubts that i have carried for many years.

What is the current pulse in the organization with the reductions?
by SouthCentral ini have not seen jehovah’s witnesses in my neighborhood for several years now.
it appears that the cart witnessing has taken over.
congregations are being consolidated and witnesses are being forced to travel a greater distance than before.the burdens/privileges of elders seem to be ever increasing!.

Just look on "Google trends" and punch in jw.borg (minus the "b" ) and look at the graph where it spikes in 2013/2014 and falls to the floor in the years afterwards. Cart work is the biggest waste of time ever.
In the nearest circuit to me two congregations have been disbanded, (one in 2014 and one in 2018) one kingdom hall closed and sold and another is closing and being sold next month.
I hear grumbling resignation, more apathy, less ministry and apathetic depression spreading. Young ones are leaving and getting on with their lives and old ones are dying more quickly than any are coming in. Attendances are down.
I hear anecdotally of more and more mental health issues surfacing too. (Can't make meetings, more declared ME.) The only ones coming in are the vulnerable and the fruit loops.

Well, like I said on page 14 in this thread 17 days ago ...
Anyway - stop worrying about Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, he's getting three square meals a day, TV, exercise and enjoying the kudos from his fellow lags (and probably a good few of his guards) - he might even be writing another book.
He'll be out before Xmas.
... ... ...
I'm a true prophet. Bit earlier than I thought but a bit like "something happened in 1914" so the JW's were right - so am I.

Apostasy Movie
by The Fall Guy ini found it extremely accurate, and as such, not a pleasant experience.
merely reinforced my certainty regarding the org's venomous teachings & practices.. a very well made film for non-jw's to get a good insight into the minds & attitudes of the cult and its members, but not really one i'd urge faders to go and see.
victim returning to the scene of the crime scenario.. opinions will differ..

It is a superb, accurate (in portraying north west England and its JW's), moving and even an understanding and empathetic film. Well deserving its 4 and 5 star review ratings by the British mainstream press.
But along with its empathy it holds back no punches in revealing the understated drudgery-in-service and consequential horror of putting the views of 8 men in New York ahead of what is truly best for yourself and your family.
I cannot think of a better actress to play the resolute and distressed mother than Siobhan Finneran.

BBC Radio 2 Vanessa Feltz show. Shunning and Jehovah's Witnesses
by ThomasCovenant inon air now..

Not a good witness. Mention of the U.N. - 1975 - and shunning.
Feltz read out the Jborg lie showpiece which at first glance says we reach out and don't shun and DF'd can attend meetings.
Those listeners that then phoned in disabused her of that notion and put her right with their personal shunning experiences.
A good half hour piece for exposing the lies of the jw's.
This was heard nationwide in the UK on a flagship BBC radio 2 show. (the largest radio audience in the UK)

Evolution of a congregation 1978- 2018
by joey jojo inour whole congregation was excited as we stood in front of our brand new kh and smiled for the photographer from the local newspaper.. for years we had been travelling 30 mins each way to attend the meetings and now, after a big effort of donations and hard work we finally had our own kh in our own town.
in the picture, there were 45 smiling faces of all ages, from the newborn to the old brother that had turned 100 and everyone in between.
the year was 1978.. the congregation grew and shrank over the years, probably hitting its peak during the 80's and 90's, there was even a renovation in the early 90's that the local brothers donated towards, for the benefit of the local town to hear the good news about the imminent arrival of the end.

The congregation in which I have plenty of stats for goes like this ...
Started with 75 publishers in 1989.
By 1995 peaked at 89 and then it's been a slow steady decline. By 2003 it was 82
By 2014 it was 76.
By 2018 it is now 69.
22 of these are aged 60 or older ... and 16 of those are over 70.
