Disfellowshipping Spree In My Congregation
by jw07 ini just was looking back at a group photo on social media from exactly one year ago.. there are 12 persons in it, and since last year 3 of those persons in that photo have been disfellowshipped, plus one more not in the photo.
so that's a total of 4 persons from my congregation of a little over 100 publishers.. unfortunately 3 are back at the meetings and taking the shunning, but one seems to be fully awake and has disappeared completely.. that's the most persons i recall being disfellowshipped in my congregation in such a short while.
usually it's like 1 every 2 or 3 years.. i wouldn't mind seeing more people leaving.. there are currently 3 persons who i wonder about.

Can you get an anonymous letter (remember them before email?) on the lines of "Hope you are doing Ok but now you are out really check if you want to come back" - and list a few thought provokers for them to consider.

Discussion with a Pioneer
by Saved_JW intwo weeks ago i had an opportunity to meet up with a pioneer whom a friend had accepted a "bible study" from.
my christian friend invited me to come along as support, so my plan was to sit back and listen for the most part.
well, that was the idea anyways.

Was my dad awake?!
by EyesOpenHeartBroken ini am wondering if my deceased elder father was awake?
once we found out he was dying, i spent every moment i could with him, we were very close.
anyway, i offered to read to him a lot when he was resting.

I would say he was where I was about ten years ago. Having doubts about the org. and just about ready to resign as an elder but believing the "new testament" as a Christian and foolishly thinking (me not your father who sounds great) I might be instrumental in trying to protect the flock while remaining an elder.
The point about child abuse strikes a chord. I went to the Police and asked for and got their assurance of keeping my identity anonymous without telling the rest of the body about a child abuse case. (I also told the police I would stand up in court if they needed my testimony but in the end they got their information from a first hand source).
I also hated those money meetings at the circuit assembly but was dumb enough to question the proposals in public.
Sorry, this sound like it's all about me. I just think your Dad was awakening or awake and a really good elder to go to privately for any jw.
The nice thing is he probably died with his faith in Christ and a resurrection - to heaven or earth - largely intact.

So in the mail he gets the bullet on the Thursday (Oct 29th?) before the Part B half of the circuit Assembly. He keeps up appearances throughout the weekend (so the Part A congs hear about it in the letter) and writes to all the circuit who read it out.
Paragraph One shows his shock and that he is sad about it.
Paragraph Two is on autopilot - we didn't want to be a distraction at the assembly - another dude will arrive and the subs will look after you - Jehovah's Org will provide.
But shining through like a beacon is the bewilderment and disappointment; he and "Joy" are off to lick their wounds with their family.
Paragraph Three
Dramatic change (he's overwhelmed) and listing the rest being put against the wall. This is self protection of reputation - not just us - it's everyone - we're not singled out!
Then it's like he is telling himself loudly "Jah and his org. loves me, he won't forget me, I'm confident! How wonderful Jah is!"
All it needs is "Goodbye cruel world."
Another poster said of those being booted - they're all in shock and the true fallout will be over the coming months when they really have to face up to life outside the bubble.
At least they can watch the fat cats and their "help themselves helpers" on jdub broadcasting.

Which bible character do you hate the most?
by Bonsai inthe more i think about it, the more i feel an extreme dislike for the apostle paul.
he was on par with hitler in his treatment of the jews before he "saw the light".
he replaced jesus teachings of love and mercy with a more legalistic, pharisaical concept of devotion to god.. any evil person can come to believe in god and worship him if the scales were literally and miraculously removed from his eyes.

@bradford
Oh yes there are tremendous money saving possibilities with CO's. You could halve them like this:
Present circuits double up so that one CO looks after an expanded circuit of 40 congregations. Wife is allowed to type up all schedules, be his secretary. (I mean if Monica Applewhite can see the elder book and branch manual then why not?) He must visit each congregation at least once a year. He has a pool of at least six (unpaid) brown-nose asst. substitute CO's from among the 40 congregations who can do the other visit in the year.
Then consolidate the congregations so that the 40 drops to 36 which will allow the CO a bit more time to exercise control over difficult congregations by personally visiting twice a year where needed. (or for a half week along with the sub CO)
This will allow a bit more time for extra assembly days as the circuits will need to be divided into A.B.C.D. sections.
Think of all those cars, apartments and insurances that can be saved. Good eh?

Is my friend on the way out of the organisation?
by The Rebel inwhen i left the watchtower i realised it was best to put friendships on hold.
however i mentioned to my best friend that i didn't agree with how they handled child abuse issues and that was one of the reasons i left.. anyway as i am fortunate and own two rental apartments and he is a plumber so we have kept in contact, in that i email him when i require his services and he sends me the invoice.
anyway i am now dissociated, but yesterday i emailed him about a pluming problem, and he replied.. " sorry we missed going to the indian ( this was a comment made about us having a meal together about 9 months ago, which i backed out of because i felt he was too indoctrinated and i had not disassociated myself) anyway his email continued:-.

Don't go for the meal (if he agrees) too locally for his sake. If he gets seen with you things may unravel too quickly for him.
Of course he could be keeping you sweet for the work you give him but then again you might explain any discovered meeting between you as a business discussion.

Wow! How old are they?
Anyone remember the CO-lite (shorter CO visits as in three days) thread in "news from mother ship" a few years back?
