  This April 2018 document is on jborg and its existence highlighted at service meetings in an announcement.

  It is a lame reaction to pressure IMHO.

  That bit about reporting if a child is still in danger is doublespeak. The faceless branch operative will discuss/persuade with the two drone elders that have phoned them whether the child is still in danger and in my experience try to parry elders who want to report.

  I had a case of neglect where I wanted to report. I dutifully spoke to the branch with another elder. The branch drone did his best to dissuade us from going to the authorities and said it would be better if a family member outside the immediate family circle reported.

  I said there was no chance of that happening because dopey jw granny was more worried the child would be taken into care from her thick (physically) abusive son and D-i-L.

  After the phone call the other elder said we should leave it in Jehovah's hands. I just privately went to child protection services who respected my confidentiality and sent social workers in to assess.

  Unfortunately there are not many elders who are waking up and going rogue on WT to do what is best for the kids.

  GOOGLE the Roman Catholic child protection policy (UK anyway)and see how this once derided religion has leap frogged JW's in this area. They categorically state that they ALWAYS report.

  dutch newspapers report that a gb member was in the netherlands last week for contact with the state secretary of justice because of the abuse cases.

  (276 reported now).. no details were revealed.. g..

  my friend has just returned from mid week meeting and emailed me to say 'this was released at meeting tonight' and sent me a 3 page document entitled 'jehovah's witness scripturally based position on child protection'.

  has anyone else had this.

  what direction does the elders manual give to start the congregations participation in shunning?

  when did you most recently see this process initiated in a hall you attend?.

  Round my way more are dying off and more are being DF'd.

  In the last 2/3 years I can think of 6 over 70's who have snuffed it and 3 DF'd (all separate offences as in not two or three at once) in a cong that was about 75/80 publishers and is now about 70. A couple of separate reproofs announced too.

  The announcements were as per Morpheus's post.

  I have also heard and had verified that in a nearby circuit the last 3 years an HLC member got DF'd and a a circuit overseer publicly reproved just after he changed circuits.

  What does Two witness mean for child abuse?

  i am not a jw.

  my mother in law is.

  my husband is not a jw, but he did attend with her through his child years and teen years but stopped once he was 15. his mother never made him or his siblings attend if they did not want to.i am trying to understand this organization to understand my mother in law better.

  Welcome Canadian Sunshine.

  Your M-i-L if typical will WANT to believe "the organisation" (AKA the Governing Body) is God's channel and trying its best as imperfect men to do what is right.

  As each court case hits their dollars and TV documentary/news item hits their image and especially since the Australian Royal Commission case study 29 into JW's - the organisation has - dragging its heels and using its considerable legal and financial clout - fought a protracted rearguard action against doing anything it doesn't want to.

  IMAGE and MONEY is everything to these bozos who have entrapped the gullible and invested into believing their every false promise of "paradise soon" or somesuch for over 100 years.

  Only this week they have put up LOOK AT US AND HOW GOOD WE ARE child protection documents that I believe are only the result of hard work by abuse victims, ex jw's and the "worldly" and "satanic" courts of decent democracies. The problem is that by sleight of hand and oral communication they will do or not do exactly what they want to using their enforcing puppet elders in the congregations.

  They are not a quirky bunch on the edge of mainstream christianity, they are a manipulative money grabbing nest feathering bunch of stuffed fat charlatans.

  My JW Elder Brother Passed Away

  he was basically a good man, just a believer in the religion.

  when we were both elders we were best of friends and then things deteriorated when i was not an elder for a while.

  then after becoming an elder again, i slowly drifted away from the religion and he drifted further away from me.
