by highdose injust asked a loyal dub i know why has the org now given out a song book, with so many songs taken out?
she looked at her convention notes and replied that the soceity said that some of the songs in the old song book were too difficult for new people to learn to sing.. and this was said with all seriousness... she totaly brought it!.

with great knowledge i can tell you that it happened for two reasons. some songs were not in accord with current teaching. also, there were many songs that were not used, not for their difficulty of singing, just not used so they were to scale down and also add back a few new that would be used.

i remember one of my first times out in fs years ago. i had an elderly brother who was a big believer that everyone should hear the good news of the kingdom no matter who they were. so we were working an area that was mostly businesses. we hit this bar, and it was a saturday at lunch time. he says we need to go in. i have no desire to go in and tell him that maybe we should move on. he says he will be brief. we go in, and it is not very busy. only a handful of people there. he asks for the owner, the guy behind the bar stated that he was the owner. the elderly brother offers the magazines and starts his lecture about whatever his presentation was. man takes the magazines and thanks him. we leave. outside the elderly brother says that it was a good call and that for being a bar, it wasnt too bad. he said that he could not understand why a bunch of men would hang around in a bar all day without having any women to talk to and laughs. i did not have the nerve to tell him that very few if any women frequent that type of bar that it was known for being. i would have thought the pink triangle sticker in the window on the door was a sign.

Prejudice in the Kingdom Hall.
by Joshnaz inhave you ever noticed how in the kingdom halls who have a mix of races, you find the whites sit in one area of the kingdom hall, and the blacks have their own section?
the district conventions and circuit assemblys too.
i've noticed one particular section where there were just black people who made up about 20% of the dc and the rest were white.

i will say that there is an even mix where i am currently assigned. i am amazed that some of the white brothers find it ok to tell ethnic jokes to some of the black brothers and everyone laughs. prejudice is prejudice no matter who laughs.

i can say anything in email form
by rockmehardplace ini am traveling on business for my job and decided to stay a few extra days with some clients to resolve some issues instead of coming home for the weekend.
it works well for me since i will be able to skip a dinner that i was supposed to attend with some jws.
i was going to come home today but decided against it.

i am traveling on business for my job and decided to stay a few extra days with some clients to resolve some issues instead of coming home for the weekend. it works well for me since i will be able to skip a dinner that i was supposed to attend with some jws. i was going to come home today but decided against it. as i was finishing my arrangements at the hotel to stay longer, i received an email on my phone. it was one of my wife's relatives. email said that it had been awhile since they seen the wife and me at the meeting. wanted to know how we were. wanted to see if everything was ok. asked me to call when i got back tonight. i replied back with this - staying a few extra days. all is well at home. what do you need?
i should have stopped at the all is well at home comment.
a reply came back a little later. the relative says - worried about you. hope you know we all care about the both of you. you seem to have drawn away from the meetings and from family and from jehovah. we really need to talk. they then proceed to quote scriptures and experiences and point out things that have bothered them about my lack of attendance and caring.
i have yet to respond back. with all the technology in the world, has anyone else found that people will say more using email than they would to you in person?

Reconnecting with an old friend
by dissed inmy wifes biggest complaint about the jw's is what they do to families, they tear them apart.
whether for disfellowsipping, or the so-called bad association, the gb needs to separate them from you, so you won't separate yourself from the gb.. she laments that her bestess of friends from childhood was taken away from her by the jw's.
true, she tried to witness to her after college but debbie respectfully listened and decided it wasn't for her.

i have reconnected with some even though i am still officially in and trying to fade. it has been wonderful and although we dont agree on things, we have our own thoughts and ideas and after much picking on one another, we respect each for their choices. that is so great that after all that time, there is still a connection for her. congrats.

Funeral program from Michael Jacksons memorial/message from Rebbie
by Pandoras cat11 ini know there have been many mj threads and probably everyone is sick to death of hearing of this event---but i just had to share this message from the funeral program.
one of our local dj's was able to go to the staples center and attend this memorial and he shared the program on the radio stations website.
the website wouldn't let me cut and paste it here, so i will write word for word what rebbie (his sister) wrote to him.. i love you so much and i'm looking forward to the time when i'll see you again on earth (john 5:28-29).

Found dead by JW's
by vikesgirl101 inone of my boyfriend's best friend died over the weekend.
it was really sad.
he was 36, never married, no kids, and pretty lonely.

i have a relative who is an EMT. he has seen a number of accidents and responded to some really horrible things. he told the story of an accident where there was a decapitation involved. he said people just stood and tried to see as much as they could. even kids. for me, not what i want to do. but people are just strange about things like that.
