Iam a Deist- i believe in a higher power that i simply refere to as natures god or the creator. I do not pray anymore, but at least once I day someone or something will remind me of how fortunate Iam to have the life circumstances I do and I simply say thankyou.
ditto. i would like to add that deist believe prayer solves nothing. we figure if god is going to do something, he will do it. us asking him for it won't change anything.
i don't look down on people that pray. i figure it makes tham feel better, and gives them peace. i am comfortable with the idea that god knows what's best and leave it at that.

what financial contributions are expected of those attending meetings of jehovahs witnesses?.
is it wise to invest in the stock market?.

need help finding a scripture
by 504deist ini'm looking for a scripture i know i've read before.
i'm not sure how it was worded, but, it basically says that there would be people that persecute individuals that ask questions, and they would do this in the name of god.
if anyone has a clue to what i'm referring to please let me know..

thanks blue, but, i don't think that's the one i am thinking of. from what i remember, it kinda says they would put you out from their midst, and would say praise jehovah, something like that.

Is God Justified....
by cameo-d inin teaching man that if he has done something wrong that all he has to do is put his hands on the head of an innocent animal/person to transfer his sins to it (rather like the cootie game children play) and then cut it's throat?.
does it appeal to your sense of justice to let someone else take the blame for something you did?.
do you believe this is the way a just god should behave?.

your assuming god teaches this. does he really? who told these people to do this? other people that claimed to speak for god. this does not make it so. people claim to speak for god all the time. they then get followers and use it to their advantage.

The only thing I still wonder a lot about is the existence of paranormal or unexplained things. While I don't really believe that there are demons messing with us I still know there are things that are unexplainable. I have to wonder where that fits in.
i had the same issue. i was talking to my friend, and i said, if it's proven that ghosts excist, that would mean there is an afterlife. he made a good point. he told me that the supernatural if it is true, does not mean there is an afterlife or a god. unexplainable things happen all the time. who knows what makes things go bump in the night.
the good thing about deism, is, you don't have to burden yourself trying to explain the unknown.
