Yknot I agree it seems to me that thinkaboutit seems to really enjoy the fact that this girl got punched.....sometimes when I read the mysoginistic statements on this board I wonder why some left the organization......it truly would have been a paradise for them.....being Lord and Master over their woman and reminding her she is in subjection to them and he is her head......Just as when I read the society's publications and picked up on an undertone of disdain for women, I also get the same feeling when reading some of the comments on here......You know I have noticed that most people in our society will admit that racial prejudice exists and racial discrimination is a problem.....yet sexual discrimination seems to be the final frontier....people don't want to talk about it and admit it and then they don't want to take it seriously....anybody who uses the term"that bitch deserved to get punched in the face" seems to have some issuess......

Girls - what subject got you thinking?
by wannabefree inreading the post "how long did it take you to leave", i can't help but be envious of those of you who refer to leaving as a "we" event.. i know it has been said that women tend to react to feelings/emotions along with logic, can you help me with ideas that got you to feel something was wrong?
what should i work on planting with my wife?.

I always hated how women were treated and viewed, it just never felt right to me. I remember when we first started going studying the old family life book and how demeaning it was to women. I was 12 and remember getting so mad. Also the molestation cover ups got to me. Tell your wife to put in the society's CD and type in keyword rape.....all I can say is wow. Two qoutes from the watchtower back in the 70's really bothered me:
1. WOMEN ARE TO BLAME FOR RAPE SINCE THEY USE THEIR NEPHEWS/COUSINS AS SEXUAL PLAYTOYS.......WTF?
2. They instructed women to treat their rapist with respect....again WTF?

Well here's another scenario, maybe they too have faded....I haven't been to meetings in 2 years and found someone recently on facebook from a congregation I was in as a teenager (I am now in my 30's) and we friended each other....we started instant messaging one night and I asked if she still goes to meetings and before she answered she asked if we did...I replied sometimes.....to which she replied no not really they don't go anymore....I think we both felt a sigh of relief over that one.....You might be surprised maybe they are faded too and looking for some support.....

Last Nights Mtg. "Demonstrate Personal Interest" (New Bible Students Beware)
by WalkTall insometimes it just hits you how cold and unfeeling this religious corporation is.. last night there was a part in the kingdom ministry about helping new bible studies.
in one paragraph it mentioned how the new student might cut ties with former associates because they are not living by bible principles.
it says that their families might disown them.

Also if they were true christians would they even need to be told to show personal interest and caring? Shouldn't that come naturally????

I overheard a nauseating conversation . . .
by 144001 ini was in the produce section of a local market, when i happened to overhear the following comment: "we celebrate christ's birth every day of the year, not just on christmas!
" i turned and knew the nature of the source of the comment immediately, judging by the polyester pantsuit and delusional "deer in headlights" look on her face.
her companion replied, "but i like celebrating christmas and don't see anything wrong with it.

It's so sad that so many of you never received presents growing up as witnesses. I asked my husband if he received presents growing up as a witness and he said he did. He does not seem to have any bitterness over that part of it all. I am so glad I was conscious of the need for children to be children and made sure my daughter had parties and got gifts, etc. Her first party was when she was 2 (and only a week before her birthday) We did the Disney princess theme and invited all the little girls over from the KH and they all had such a good time. Her next party was a dress up party and all the kids dressed up as anything they wanted. I did this at the end of the year. Then from that point on I was known as the party planner in the hall and all the kids used to come up to me and say "when are we going to have another party?" Amazingly I never got in trouble for it and now looking back I am quite surprised because that KH is VERY conservative...... If only those morons up in NY realized what a negative impact the lifestyle they force upon the witnesses was but maybe they do and just don't care......

i told him i'm sorry he is doing his study and i will not call him to the phone.
i told him we do not talk to each other and he would have to call him back around 11:30. he called back around 11:40 and sure sounded different then his first call.

I just wanted to say I am so sorry you are going through this. Your husbands sounds like a real ass, which explains why he is a witness!!! He is probably part of the boys club at the hall and fits in quite nicely! Please keep us posted on your situation.

My biggest problem with the whole thing is that I resent being told I CAN'T do something. I feel that celebrating holidays, birthdays, etc. should be a CONCSIOUS matter. If the society says voting, casinos, etc. are conscious matters then I feel the aforementioned should be too. I am not going to say all witness children receive gifts throughout the year but I make sure my daughter receives gifts. I think I am more conscious of it cause I wasn't a witness my whole life (THANK GOODNESS). I always made sure to have parties at least once a year and we make a huge deal about our anniversary and she receives a ton of gifts. She also receives numerous gifts throughout the year. They are wrapped and I make it a special event for her. If it were solely up to me I think I might celebrate CHristmas but hubby just can't bring himself to do it. He was a born in. However, I am torn because when I look at people's nasty attitude during this time of the year and the commercial aspect of it, it does make my stomach turn! Anyway, my point is that some witness children do receive gifts all through the year although I don't think it is the norm.
