Ok, let me see if i have this right.... quite a few of the members here are still in the association??? If Iam right, you guys/gals have my deepest sympathy!

I left befor getting too involved and it was quick and relatively for me- I left a note on top of a pile of books at the KH on the front step, the next day i had a visit from the pioneer i was studing with and she and her husband left after not being able to answer a few simple questions- they have not contacted me since! 4 months later and I'm actually hoping for the oppertunity to really have my say to them and proudly announce to whole congregation I BELIEVE IN DEISM!!!!

Having said all that... I would not like to be someone who has lived their whole life as a JW or has their entire family still in the org! being shunned by people you barely knew is easy, but losing family and life long friends to me is more painfull than i care to imagine ( part of my reason for leaving while my boys are still younge enough to be de-programmed!).

The books I didn't give back, i have put in the trash were they belong! I do remember this book (KYIGL)- i left just as the study of it began- I remember my husband saying- so you gunna start wearing a scarf on your head like the mormons now? LOL it was pretty stupid lol

The only book I wish I had've kept was the "reasoning from the scripture" handbook. It's a good model for a book am currently working on.

It's good to keep up with what crap the org is publishing- comes in handy when pointing out new fault and lies.

Breaking free and closure...

i have only been posting on this site for a short time, and haven't completely decided how i feel about it.

i have found it interesting to say the least, and have learned a lot from members such as andersonsinfo and others.

i have felt compassion for many who have posted here, have felt out of the loop by many others who have formed tight "friendships" with each other here, have been shocked by some users, have been inspired by others ... you get the idea... i have had a full spectrum of thoughts more or less.. however.... the one feeling i get the most is it reminds me of divorce, or when you split off from someone who mattered to you and you can't seem to let go.

I found this site while doing research to try and help some of my old JW friends and others break their 'programming', as I came pretty close to being 'programmed' myself!

It's the people we miss and have been torn away from by leaving/DF/DA the ORG, not the ORG itself. I think about it only to find a way to help those leaving and try my best to inspire those who are "stuck in".

I agree with Brocephus- it is the JW's right to do what they do.... if it's not harming anyone, let it be. But at the same time, one lie leads to another, then another, and when it's all said and done lies cause more harm than good!

Maybe instead of waiting for people to "break free", why not try to reach as many minds as you can and set them free??? give them the real truth behind the lies and show them the real frienship/love that is uncondition and support them through the process- If you can recruit people in, you can get them out again!

No, I dont believe they are given a chance to think for them selves... when i was being inducted, i kept being told 'that the heart is treacherous and cannot be trusted', 'it is not for mankind even to direct his own steps', 'Jehovah's thoughts are much higher than ours, so even if we dont understand, we must have faith and do his will.'..... Hmmmn... sounds like "close your eyes, shut your mouth, leave your brain and freewill at the door- we own you" doesn't it?

people always justify belief in god by saying that the universe needed a creator to balance out the fundamental forces & set things in motion, etc... or in other words an intelligent first cause (who designed the designer though?)....

but how do we get from this ambiguous grand designer to the judeo christian god, or jesus, or al lah?

There is no leap! Let me ask you this... how do you control a growing population of people while still maintaning social order?? Give them a "religion" based on FEAR- so even if the human "authorities" didn't see you do, the scary spirits did and you be punished!

The WT org uses this same method today to gain control of your average JO/Jill for their own sick and twisted reasons right? Why do you think they are soooo in love with the original cult known today as the Jewish Faith???

Bravo to the original writers of the Torah... what a way to mind-f#ck the whole planet into believeing in the "boogy monster" (aka Satan), and scamming billions of dollars out of people for the last 4 thousand years!!! I take my hat off to you Well Done!

"Commenting" at Meetings

i don't quite understand why you call it commenting.. when i attended meeting the question at end were read.. when people "commented" it was never a real comment.. it was just reading back word for word a sentence or two from the paragraph that answered the question.. i would think "commentary" would be something you put in your own words and give a personal statement about it.. .

why do you call it "comments" when it is more like reciting?.

or is it different in other kh?.

During the time I was studying and preparing to be baptised I often took my eldest son (6yrs old) with me on sundays. His two pet peeves are sitting still and being quiet- As we were "new to the truth" I would not let my son 'comment' untill he understood the question and to keep him quiet we always stopped for icecream on the way home... lol

I never commented myself even though i am usually a very outspoken person- I just couldn't let go of my 'worldy ways' and 'gay friends' long enough to be fully assimilated i guess! at my last meeting it took all my thrength to just sit, smile and not say a word... Acting-something I learned during theocractic ministry school.

Well here is my comment now guys/elders/satan...

"I believe in not being a hypocrite- how could i say smoking is evil when i would light up as soon as i was out of sight from the KH? How could i say that fornication is wronge when my partner and i had our 3 children before we got hitched? and i damn sure am not going to say anything bad about my Aunty Cooper and his partner Aunty John- it wouldn't be paradise with out guys too!!! I love G_d, I love my children, I just love everyone... I, even I, an evil sinning apostate whore in babylon bitch, am capable of showing unconditional love! Why make fools of them?

i want to know why god spent the first seventy years of the wtbts directing it by his spirit, to print reams of trash that was constantly having to be updated and changed, why they insulted everybody elses beliefs and mocked proven science such as vaccinations and promoted quackery.. why did the spirit direct producing a translation of the bible with wilful additions to support obvious doctrinal bias, and such travesties as "do you now please step up into my chariot" instead of "please climb aboard my chariot now" than pass this off as modern english.

(other exx of ridiculous verbal contortions welcome).

all these things inevitably destroyed any credibility they might have gained by presenting a more reasonable face.. and now the public is to die because they don't want the litterature of a cult that has made a fool of itself and its god for over a hundred and thirty years!!.

To be perfectly honest, after leaving my studies to become a witness, i still thought of myself as a christian, but after much soul searching and being honest to myself I am so happy to say that now I am a Deist!- Iam now free to think for myself and use my own G_d given reason to believe and to direct my path and own steps in this life. I am a huge fan and advocate for the Thomas Paine Novel- (The Age of Reason), this book changed my life, it made me think clearly for the first time in my life and I believe that I am now spiritually and physically a better person for it! to quote the gospel of John- the truth will set you free... Deism (A Natural Belief in G_d, Based on Reason not Revelation) has set me free and if there is such a thing as ONE TRUTH then I believe I am on a much clearer path to finding it now, then before.

As a deist Iam no longer bound to just one book, creed, thruth, dogma etc... I can dissern for myself what is reasonable and what is not, I can use 'logic' to determine the difference between what is fact and what is fiction, I do not live in constant fear, i have learned that true love is unconditional!

As a parent- I love my children, I would never do anything to intensionally harm them, they do not need to earn/buy/or work for my love-i give it freely, my love for my children is unconditional. Now if it were a fact that I was "full of sin" and was not "perfect", then why am I able to do what a jealous, murderous and abhoring mythical g_d cannot do unconditionally??? to quote my favorite writer.... and also a deist....
