New World Translation, is it the best bible translation?

my jw elder friend said to me that the nwt is the best translation of the bible and that scholars have said as much.

is this true and is it the best?

are there scholars who disagree?.

I no longer 'read' any 'version' of the bible- the 3 times i have read it from cover to cover I read the NWT, NIV and the KJV, in my opinion all of them were wronge to a certain degree! Personally I believe that god had nothing to do with the writting of any 'holy book' and at no time 'chose' one child over the other! I dont even think god has a gender (male or female), or would limit the telling of vital information to just one person who then had to tell everyone else (thats spreading rumours and hearsay by the time we get the information isn't it?).

My advice is- stop looking in books for the answers- take a walk outside and behold the real truth, nature and the creation is god real words, it can not be forged or wrongly translated, it publishes itself and will be here long after we are gone, everything we need to have 'paradise/utopia/nirvana' is right here and right now, we just need to let go of the illusion of control and go with the flow... further more- if everyone slaved for everyone else, no one would be without!

Reniaa - did you forget Isaiah 9:6-7 ??? this is suposidly a 'prophesy' about the birth of Jesus- please explain why if he is 'not the father' in human form, that he would be called- Mighty God, Eternal Father????????? (scripture supports both the 4 and against the trinnity debate!).

(This is me just pointing out the fact that- anyone can pick and chose bible quotes to suit their own agenda! if a book could grow legs, I bet the world's revealed religions would try to make holy books tap dance too! )

A certain amount of 'faith' is required when you 'believe' in anything (no one has 100% knowledge)- but before you can believe, you need the facts and to be able to trust the sorce of the facts- trust is something earned after years of experience/knowledge, it is tested and tested many times and if it still holds true at the end of the day- one may feel comfortable enough to place there faith in it.

Bottom line- If you lean in close and it smells bad, DONT EAT IT! For me the borg was tryed, tested and found to be YUK! LOLLOL

What is the JW theology?

: theos).. jws keep rabbiting on ad nauseum about the trinity teaching being "irrational", "impossible to understand", etc.. i do not want this thread to be about the trinitarian doctrine.. i want to be given an explanation of what a jw believes.

i have seen so many arrows and spears thrown by jws, i want to know exactly what they are defending.. i want to see an explanation of "god" that is rational and can be understood.. doug.

i have spent a bit of time lurking on this other website and it makes too much sense to me.

as a deist i spend a fair amount of time researching and studying 'myths, religions, theories and science' (iam not a geek- just curious, and i like to have my facts straight- "make sure of all things".. up untill now i have spent a long time refuting the 'hebrew' accounts of our beginnings- but what if there is an ounce of truth amid the bs?

i would like to invite anyone that may be interested to read the 'other' version of genesis at http://www.halexandria.org/dward180.htm or just have a click through the library..
