OC,
Joe's Garage is one of my albums. It was one of FZ's too.

i am stoked about going to see dweezil zappa in concert on thursday.
it is going to be a date night, and the person i am taking never had the chance to see his father frank in concert.
i know that she will appreciate the complexity and beauty of his music, as well as some of his off-color humor.. yes "humor does belong in music!".

stillin,
I grew up on the Mothers too. Frank was not only a musical influence, he was also my Sex Ed instructor. Now you know why I am so weird.
smiddy,
Thank you for the sentiments, and I do know it is going to be a great night either way. (wink, wink)
OTWO,
You know it is going to be a great time. Thank you for encouraging me to leave the nest, and asking someone to go with me since you couldn't. I couldn't have survived the past half year without your friendship and guidance. I am forever indebted to you. I am looking forward to the concerts we have planned for later this year.
sparrow,
Thank you for your thoughts. It will be a great night, this is going to be my first date since my mother passing away.

i've recently watched the jw cartoons centered around teaching young kids the doctrines of this faith.
while i no longer practice any faith, i am well versed in this one.
i must say, these cartoons are in bad, bad taste.
FF,
As George Carlin said: "The only difference between religion and cults is how much real estate they have."

greetings, pet owners and lovers:.
while i have no pets of my own, i do care for dogs and cats and have cared for bunnies and guinea pigs in the past.
i'm working on an essay with an 11-year-old student, and the subject is symbiotic relationships and how humans learn from their close interaction with animals.. here is a portion of the reference material under study:.
Rusty is my faithful companion. I really don't deserve him. He is still full of life, I couldn't have gotten through the last months without him. He is starting to get a stately amount of grey on his muzzle, so his age is but a guess since he was a rescue dog, and rescue me he did. I would guess around 11 years old now.
I will miss him when he is gone. He is the reason I continue to stay alive at times. His loyalty deserves mine. He is family!

it really amazes me when jws act like we are hurting them!.
many of us have found that if we stop associating with them for valid reasons, they act all upset and hurt that we would be "so cruel as to limit our association or cut them off".
i know of friends here on the forum who have been told by parents that they "will shun them if they leave jehovah" , and yet when the shoe is on the other foot and our awake friends shun them first, the parents cry and bemoan the situation and say how "cruel it is to deprive them of their company".
The lie that they are told to support their stance Is that disfellowshipping is a "loving provision." Loving provision MY ASS!
JK
so, serving "the one true god" and being "in the truth" are supposed to make jw's better people.
they are bringing their "truth" to people and that probably makes them feel that they are good to "worldly" people.but they do it to "get their time in.
" they do it no longer in any life-saving mentality.
IT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO LOOK GOOD THAN TO BE GOOD!
My sisters both live that to a tee. I hope they reap just what they have sown.
