I hate to get all biblical and everything, but isn't there some proverb or something about for those seeking honor, is it honor?

Atheism's view on death
by ashitaka inwell, it's winter, and it's just a bit more depressing this time of year, and i'm thinking about death.
i wonder, what do atheists believe about death?
do you believe in any way that a 'spirit' lives on?

Done or not done?
by oscartheduck inwhat's more important?
what i'm getting at is, is it more important to impose your views on what is right in the bible, or to encourage other members of your religion?.
i remember that my past seems to be more a memory of elders telling people "oh, that's wrong.

Intro's quote-o-rama
by Introspection ini guess i've been inspired by stephen's quote threads, so i'm going to start one myself.. not one particular author here, just whatever i can find:.
q: why do you think that people are so protective of their egos?
why is it so hard to let go of one's ego?.

"I'm a driver, I'm a winner; things are gonna change I can feel it" -Loser by Beck, evidently this was a sample from George Bush..

Maybe I can squeeze out a few more:
King Arthur: Are all men from the future loud-mouthed braggarts?
Ash: Nope. Just me baby... Just me. (Army of Darkness) -

Ashi, the funny thing about that is a reaaaaallly good person doesn't seem to need confirmation that he is good, or even that he's a person.

You might want to look at this quote I came across a while back. Of course, it may not make sense or there may be thoughts of "that's not what that scripture meant" etc, but you might want to look at it anyway. The third message down.

A couple more for you Mango, I may be tapped for a while after these.. From the Simpsons:
"Yes, honey...Just squeeze your rage up into a bitter little ball and release it at an appropriate time, like that day I hit the referee with the whiskey bottle." -Homer
"It's naive to think you can change a person--except maybe that boy who works in the library." -Lisa

Ahh, death schmeth. Try it and see if you like it. Die on the pillow/cushion/chair/recliner. Just don't fall asleep. Actually I guess they call that meditation.
"There's no such thing as a soul. It's just something they made up to scare kids, like the boogeyman or Michael Jackson." -Homer Simpson

Well here's another one, since atleast Mango reads this ..
George: I don't want hope. Hope is killing me. My dream is to become hopeless. When you're hopeless you don't care. And when you don't care, that indifference makes you attractive.
Jerry: So, hopelessness is the key?
George: It's my only hope.--SeinfeldAnd since you like the Chips Ahoy thing:
Hannibal Lecter: How did you catch me, Will?
Will: You had disadvantages.
Hannibal Lecter: What disadvantages?
WIll: You're insane. --Manhunter -

Thanks Mango, I'm not really back but I wasn't really gone either, just kind of taking a long time in between. I guess since I found that quote above I realized I wasn't using the internet for the right purpose.
Jay: Me lead you? Lady, look at me. I don't even know where the hell I am half the time.
