Where does the money go?

the other day my wife asked me this question when i was trying to tell her that the society's motive behind most decisions is money.

she too thinks the society is misguiding people but she doesn't think it's being done for financial gain like i do.. can anyone out there confirm whether members of the gb or some of the higher profile bethelites are personally benefitting from all the money that is being gathered in by the organization.

and i don't mean stuff like, they have all their needs taken care of, i mean luxuries that most jw's would not receive..

Name Some Stupid Watchtower Rules or Ideas

there's a lot.. one rule that is dumb is that a brother must wear a suit for a sunday public talk that he is giving.

any other time, the brother could wear a suit coat with a different pair of pants and not be counseled for it.. another dumb idea is that you cannot date a person unless you seriously might marry them.

if you're on a date, you were supposed to always have a chaperone and holding hands might not be allowed as well as sitting together.. what other dumb rules and ideas can you add?.

Talking about sports at the kingdom hall shows you are not a spiritual person.

You cannot dance to the twist or YMCA or have them played at your wedding.

If a brother rips you off you don't take them to court or you will bring reproach on Jehovah's name.

So if the DF'd person comes to the meeting you were supposed to pretend they weren't there, unless they wanted to buy literature....at that point they became a valued customer. I wonder what would happen if a DF'd would go to the literature counter today now that there's a donation arrangement?

i apologize if this has been mentioned, but i don't have the time to come on here as often.

yesterday's bookstudy on divorce got my shorts in a bit of a knot.

apparently, according to the god's love book, a wife could consider legal separation from her husband if she is physically abused, but (get this) only in the case of extreme physical abuse, and if the wife's life is in danger.

In certain extreme situations, some Christians have decided to separate from or divorce a marriage mate even though that one has not committed fornication. In such a case, the Bible stipulates that the departing one “remain unmarried or else make up again.” (1 Corinthians 7:11) Such a Christian is not free to pursue a third party with a view to remarriage. (Matthew 5:32) Consider here a few exceptional situations that some have viewed as a basis for separation.

Here is the paragragh from the book that states that the abused spouse is not free to remarry if she leaves her husband for abuse. It mentions extreme situations and then the following paragraphs classifies abuse as an extreme situation. So those are a woman's two choices.....stay and get the crap beat out of you, or leave and spend the rest of your life alone. Noooo the society is not influencing a woman's decision at all (sarcasm)

Meanwhile, the abuser after being disciplined by the elders, which may be disfellowshipping or it may be the removal of the priveleage to carry the mics, will once again be considered a valued member of the congregation after a few months and have his pick of the many 35+ year old single sisters in the cong, because he did not ask for the divorce. If I am wrong someone please correct me.

When I was about 7 or 8, I was at a door with my mom. It was freezing cold and we were at this guy's door for what seemed liked an hour at the time. He wasn't interested, he was just being argumentative. Back in the 80's JWs never backed down from that.

After a while my feet started to hurt because of the cold so I started to shift and bounce a bit to ease the pain. After noticing how cold I was the householder told my mom that she should be ashamed of herself for bringing such a young kid out in these temperatures. When we left the house my mom told me off for not hiding the fact that my feet were frost bitten. She started telling me stories about brothers in concentration camps that endured the pain. What a dufus my mom was when it came to the "truth".

so according to this graph, to remain joyful a witness should spend 3 times as much of his waking hours in 'theocratic activities' as he should in secular work!

I wonder if they purposely put the 3 spiritual pies at the front to show these take priority......if that's the case, it's nice to see where they place family care. IMO another attempt by the WTS to show people that taking care of family can hinder spiritual growth. Their hopes are that young ones will look at this and say "hey I know, if I don't have children or get married, I can dedicate more of the pie chart to theocratic activities. What a bunch of cold hearted SOB's.

Oh!! I almost forgot. According to some comments during the study, a wife shouldn't think twice about leaving her husband if he asks her to do something against biblical principles, and someone actually brought up oral and anal sex as an example....lol. But if he beats the crap out of her she has to make it a matter of prayer to Jehovah and really meditate over the decision.

I apologize if this has been mentioned, but I don't have the time to come on here as often. Yesterday's bookstudy on divorce got my shorts in a bit of a knot. Apparently, according to the God's Love book, a wife could consider legal separation from her husband if she is physically abused, but (get this) only in the case of EXTREME physical abuse, and if the wife's life is in danger. One sister commented that the husband would have to display a PRACTICE of violent behavior and it would not include a one time mistake or rare fits of anger. The study mentioned that if one decides to legally separate for this reason they are not free to remarry.

My wife did not come with me to the meeting, so I couldn't wait to get home and tell her that the bible (according to the wife beaters in Brooklyn)said it's ok to slap you around a bit, as long as I don't make a habit of it. She didn't find it as funny as I did.

Am I becoming so angry at the WTS that I'm picking on them, or does this sound so ridiculously stupid to anyone else?
