None of the halls in Edinburgh are in the city centre. Waverley used to be in the pink triangle in the city centre.
I was in Waverley and remember the old ones really struggling with stairs. Mind you, the new hall isn't exactly easy to get to without a car.

i'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.
My parents who are now in their mid 60s were affected by this.
My dad, who is highly intelligent never went to uni but could have had a great career if he been able to go. Instead he worked 6 days a week in a manual job until he was 65.
My mum, whose father was not a witness only allowed her to pioneer after leaving school if she got a job that allowed her to learn something worthwhile. She did this and had something to fall back on.
Because of this my parents actively encouraged me to go to university because even they admit that their financial situation could have been so much different. They also acknowledge that so many others of their generation are facing the same issues.
because i was abroad we had to use the original revelation book and only the reader had the new improved version so i don't know if this was the same else where but following along using the old version made the adjustments seem even more ludicrous.. why didn't they ensure everyone had the new version before studying it rather than highlight all the "adjustments" that had to be made in a km and therefore making them more obvious?.
do you think there could be a list of amendments to be inserted into the reasoning book in the same way?.
They still use the reasoning book for the sisters talks.
I recall that the original reasoning book came out in 1985 with an updated one in 1989. I was at a meeting a couple of years ago where the brother said (about having the 1989 one) "we wouldn't want to be using an out of date book". I sat there trying my best not to laugh as I was thinking how many doctrines have changed due to "noo lite" since 1989. They seriously don't have a clue!

always had time for me and seemed to keep thigs real.. heard that on a zone vist he told the governing body the branch was told old and grumpy or something like that!.

Two stick in my mind more than any of the others - Bob Auldrey and Ian Shanks.
Bob Auldrey was our co in the late 80s when i was a kid. He designed the Mr Matey bubble bath bottle and always wore a waistcoat and pocket watch. Last i heard he was in essex/east london.
Ian Shanks - very very camp with a quiff. Now in Glasgow.
Also remember William and Ann Heath she was nice helped me play keyboard in the early 90s. My parents had so many of them round to our house for lunch over the years but they a lot of them blend into one.
it has been years since i have seen any jws in this road but this morning when i returned home after buying a birthday gift i spotted two women walking slowly doing the door to door work.. i lamented the fact that they did not call here, my son informed me they had visited the neighbours but had missed us out.
hubby was in the kitchen and had missed them otherwise he would have gone outside and confronted them.
just as i was feeling we had missed an opportunity my neighbour called me to let me know the witnesses were about.
ha ha jookbeard! i've noticed them at my station recently (its a new thing since about march) and have really wanted to do that!!

for 2011, jws in mexico had the lowest baptism number in years, a critical 26.9% decrease from 2010. something is going there!?.

Wha happened? - i've been to mexico a couple of times (have family there) and I was really surprised at how many of the witnesses are either professionals or are at university/college. Much more than you find in the UK.
I say good on them for doing it despite all the negative propoganda in the literature. Perhaps expanding critical thinking skills will help them see the truth about the truth.
