i am going to put together a page of short experiences of how shunning has affected exjws.
you do not have to be disfellowshipped, even if you were shunned after being marked or after fading.
all comments are welcome, such as who shunned you, how long since family have spoken to you, what your situation is, why you are being shunned and how it has made you feel.
i'm not DF'd or DA'd. But when i moved congo i was shunnned by members of my former congregation. Instead of finding out why i wasn't at their hall any more they decided to treat me like someone disfellowshipped.
A few months later i went back to that congregation to visit, i was given the standard " lets encourage lost sheep" greeting(!) " well done on coming!" etc really got up my nose!

", seems to be a pr puff piece aimed primarily at a european audience.
In the UK it is very illigel to give jobs to people for any reason other than their own professional merit. To hire someone because of their religous veiws could get you in trouble if found out.
Having said that... i too knew JW companys that hired only JW's, they were looked up to and aplauded by the other members of the cong.

oooh! one more! at resterants when the waiter offers you a giant chess piece/ pepper grinder and then makes a big performance of using it?!! i mean why???
screaming kids in resterants/ supermarkets.
people who insist on forcing their religous views/ health views on me.
people who wait untill i've served up a carefully prepared meal in front of them and then declare " i don't eat : meat, wheat, dairy etc etc" Jw's i find are very good at this.
When i invite people for a meal at say 8pm and then they turn up at 8:45 when dinners just about ruined and i'm pulling my hair out.

people who ask me to call them and then turn out not to have an answering machine, especailly when they then have a go at me saying that i never called them!
When people don't have locks on their bathroom doors and when they don't have guest towels.
When people say " i don't mean to be horrible or anything but..." or " i don't mean to be nasty or anything but..."
when i go to someones house and they have the TV and we have to talk over the top of the noise!
When people describe things as being "posh" i normaly find that the thing they are describing as posh isn't posh at all. Example being when a collegue once told me that she last wore a frock " to that posh do at the best western"
When people turn up at my house with their pets with out asking if its ok.

i bet the elders who deal with him are astounded that their judgement of him counts as nothing.
