Are Jehovah's Witnesses a Cult?
by trevor inmind control.
when one is a member of a group such as jehovahs witnesses, it is not possible to be aware of the degree to which personal freedoms that are normally taken for granted are lost.
the mind-control techniques used by the watchtower society are by no means unique.

Apostate Brainstorming Session
by AllTimeJeff ini have been meaning to bring this up for a long time.. sometimes, i think we (former jw's) who are very rightly concerned about all the lies of the governing body have some great ideas about how to expose jehovah's witnesses.. some of us have very passionate and distinct ideas.
not a few of us have websites with our own personalities evident.. i don't wish this to get personal.
even if i disagree with some presentations or rhetoric of some, i know that it is sincere.

Jeff, my question referred to the new site you speak of not this thread.
You do realize that to get the information you want to present to people before they get baptized or study you would have to have 7 million exJWs going door to door around the world. A new site will not do much more than has been done already. In the exJW world there is little if not nothing new under the sun. But still I say, go for it! Who knows you might hit gold!

Jeff,
"(btw, can you give me an acronym to call you by? bxjw?)"
Call me what you will.
You wrote to Flipper, "I think we could procure all the letters to elders, and other sensitive information. Post the elders book and dare them to come after us. In this theoretical scenario, this website would be free of opinion as this forum provides. The purpose of it is to present responsibly all manner of lies and hypocrisy, to use all confidential letters, then to actually have the resources to call the bluff of the Society's lawyers and take them to court, all the way."
What is your aim, your goal? To take down the Watchtower? To get as many as you can out of it? Or to, please don't take this personal, get back? If your aim is to take down the Watchtower, that won't happen. If it's to get many more out, your plan for doing so has already been tried, all manner of evidence has been published on the web. But if it's to get back at them I say go for it!

Yes, I agree. For the JWs witnessing is very important.

Pat,
Are you saying the Watchtower teaches that JWs must preach door to door in order to have life? What about informal witnessing and phone witnessing etc, those don't count now?

Outlaw,
"You seem like a nice enough person.."
I'm not a nice person, Outlaw. I'm not nice at all.
But for what it's worth, I enjoy your posts and believe you to be a sincere.

Hi Pat,
Do you believe going house to house is not scriptural? I ask because in my area Mormons and Baptists come around on a regular basis.

Jeff,
"I doubt very seriously one website is going to scare off someone who knows that JW's are full of crap."
I agree. But those who do not yet realize the JWs are, as you say, full of crap, they will run. So, is the catch that first a JW must realize their religion is no good and then they come here and learn their religion is no good? Or could it be that a JW who is not sure about their religion or is happy in their religion and seeks to learn more about the exJW world may come here to just float about the place? And if they do what do they find? Kindness and open discussion that recognizes the good that many have experienced in the JW religion? Have you read the comments on Dogpatch's latest Barbara and Joe Anderson thread? That was a very good thread. It recognized that not all is evil and bad in the JWs. That there can be and still are fine times there. This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. Balance and fairness is rewarded with trust. Trust that what is said here is true and not distorted lies.

Outlaw,
What "house" is that? Not the JW house. All may not be well there but they still grow and still enjoy their families and friends.

Jeff,
"Most lurkers start off "moderate", go to freeminds, learn that they are part of a lying cult, get pissed, get mad, become "unreasonable", and post here, pissing off moderate former JW's... "
Do you have hard facts on that? Do you know how many lurk here and how many of those who lurk come back and convert afterwards? I'd be very interested in your figures because most JWs I know who come here never return.
