Hi Bane,
I'm a born-in JW, 39 years old, 4th generation. I don't want to lose my family when I leave.
So that's it.
Gor
is there any jehovah's witness who can answer these questions about 1914?.
can you demonstrate, using the holy scriptures, that the messianic kingdom was established in 1914, that jesus got the full legal right to become king that year, and that jesus returned invisibly in 1914, and that the "last days" began that year?.
1:) no encyclopedia, no history book, and no archaeology book that i have ever seen have ever said that nebuchadnezzar destroyed jerusalem and the temple in the year 607 bce.

Dear Und.
Im a JW and I know the doctrine is false. All the generation doctrines are false too.
That's it.
I visited the DC this weekend and the teaching of the new generation doctrine was realy stupid.
Nobody understood what was told. Off course a loud applause when the DVD was released.
Our believe is for simple minds. When you are a thinker, you've got a problem...
What a joke, this DC.
after reading on the way out's thread about his mom explaining the generation overlap to him it kicked this idea into my head to make this thread .
i thought it would be helpful to see if anybody here has had jw relatives or friends try to explain this " generation overlap " theory to you as a faded or inactive witness and what happened in the conversations.
so please feel free to post your experiences.
They have many doubts! This week I talked about it with family members and one said "I don't believe in the Society anymore, only in Jehovah. The Society can say what they want, but I don't believe them. When I hear the statements of them, I don't believe it. I keep going for my believe in Jehovah".
The quote about the stamps, it is a very close family member of my.
Another one told me he want to celebrate birthdays, because the society had wrong intentions about forbidding birthdays...
So they are changing (in west europe).

I have signs of changed thinking of family members: they dislike the new generation doctrine. They also told me they stay JW for the family.
"Some people collect stamps, and we have another hobby: being JW's" a family member told me.
alice.......here's a good elton john song about a girl named alice.
mary and yknot probably remember this one.

Elton John is my favorite artist! The live concerts are great!
i have tons of elders letters which were part of a website about 7 years ago and if my memory proves correct it was taken down due to bullying by the society.. i was wondering if these letters were still out there somewhere, because if not i'll upload them.
they are all in catergories.
might be useful.
Thanks for the upload!
i'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .
My both grandmothers became a witness in 1944 and 1946. Born in the organisation (1970). Inactive since 2007, no visit to kingdom hall since 2009, visit memorial 2010. Starting visiting KH in may 2010. I don't want to lose family but stay an anti organisational JW.
Pray for me I have to lissen to the B... S.... again.

Stopped in 2008, age 37.
Returning in may, 2010 for family reasons. Only attending, no preaching.
I'll remain a critical anti-organisational JW.
just got back from memorial.
only went so that i could say to my parents that i had gone and to remind myself why i left.. oh my word!!!
it was sooooo painful.. got there a bit late - it was a couple of minutes into the talk.
Mary thanks for sharing your visit to the KH. I attended the memorial also. I missed totally the historical perspective of the memorial. No going-back to the period of the first christians. Only the big picture about how Jehovah and Jesus save us if we believe in watchtower theology. It was the first time in a year I attended the KH, I didn't have the new song book. It was strange! It seems they were singing these songs for the first time. The invitation was funny. An old brother read the invitation word by word, very fast. He did not understand it, only read it.
It was a show, a symbol of once in a year being nice to new people in the KH. But I did not se Christian love. It was technocrat love.
my two favourites are.-.
a) lynyrd skynyrd "one more from the road".
b) genesis "seconds out".
Elton John, live in Australia
