  JW Cart encounter

  i've seen very few carts in western australia.

  the only one i have seen is near the front entrance of the perth royal hospital and on the several occasions that i have seen it, they are there all day, at least during the week.

  i've stopped and had long conversations twice now and both times when i have approached them they've told me to take whatever publications interest me and then we've started talking.this last visit i brought up the royal commission.

  Witnessing to two JW elders

  i was approached by two jehovah’s witness elders who handed me a pamphlet advertising the jw .org website.

  each man carried a bible and an apple ipad.

  they told me that they enjoyed visiting with people about the bible, and asked if i was a bible reader.

  The Rank Hypocrisy of JW Rank and File

  wtf?

  russian jw mr novik is shown in full view on jw org wearing the "parental glory" badge with its prominent cross pattee on his lapel - and not one word of caution is sounded.

  similarly, jw forums are abuzz singing the praises of mr and mrs novik and their brood after they received the parental glory honor from no less than jw-oppressor, mr putin.. from the stinking gb heaven all the way down to the dusty rank and file, the hypocrisy is sky-high.

  I had a live experience this weekend how irretional jw family members react on the Russia events.

  It is Jehovah this and Jehovah that..

  It reminds me of the bible text about people that act like the wind.

  Because of lack of education jw's have no fundament of thinking.

  They don't do research, read the informal information and have their truths directly made up, because it's on jw.org

  My brother in law concluded, "now, we will win the appeal".

  It does not surprise me seeing all these jw family with health problems. They live in a buble with continue changing inner and external opinions, related to a continue stream of informal and strongly biased information.

  With their FB pro jw groups and Whatsapp communication they are right on the way to madness.

  It is so sad to see. All their time and health is flying away due to irrational nonsense.

  What is the most bizarre counsel you received as a JW, from a JW?

  there were many addressed to me.

  for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.

  i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

  Great moment was when something I said made an Elder speechless.

  No counsel, but total silence was his reaction, and a facial expression of a totaly shocked person.

  What did I say?

  "Br X, some one told me that they were surprised that I am a JW. They said we didn't expect you are a witness. You look such a normal person".

  we already had a thread explaining that jesus added a "but" after those words.

  however, few would argue against the principle of keeping one's word.

  Our studyleader, with university degree, co position at accountancy firm made the following comment after every answer: "that's something to think about" and "that's something to concider".

  Talk to my Dad about beards.

  so i spoke to my elder dad the other day, and he asked if i still am sporting a beard.

  i said yes, then i said, "i thought the society said its ok to have a neat trimmed beard now?

  " he said "no, no, no..if you read the article , it says in countries where it is accepted" so my response was "ummm, its pretty accepted here in america"..which he says "it reflects your spirituality" "if another wittness saw you, they would know you are weak"...i was like, "ok, i don't get it, and i follow christ/god, not men..." then he said in his hall" if a brother came in with a beard , he would not have privelages" then i just gave up, and tried to change the subject..ugggggggggg if these people would just listen to themselves , they would see the sillyness of there teachings...

  A few weeks ago my JW father-in-law-took me by my beard and said loud "What is this?".

  Despite I have a beard for 3 years, there was some frustration, I think. It had to be told.

  I answered his question with "It's a beard".

  My last talk

  so i was recalling my last talk , it was something to do with finding jehovah's treasures or something anyhow in my prep i decided to google "real life treasure maps " and i came across the copper scroll which was found with the dead sea scrolls https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/copper_scroll and i described the real life treasure map etc and of course likened it to the bible as if it were a treasure map to life (duh) anyway afterwards an elder present at my talk said "i wouldn't believe everything u read on the internet" .

  i was totally pissed off by his comments as though if it didn't come from a wt publication it can't be trusted as true , this was before i woke up but i was so incensed by his comments it messed with me that he would doubt my research and then ..... i woke up but that wasn't what did it just an.event along the way.

  48% Capacity at Kingdom Halls - A post on reddit

  there was a letter read this week, followed by a talk about all the changes that are coming in the next couple of months regarding merging congregations in the area (va/md/dc) - the letter said that the kh's in the area are only being filled to 48% capacity.

  this was music to my ears as i have noticed the decline in attendance in all the neighboring congregations.

  they will sell some kingdom halls and merge some congregations.

  Same in Holland, too. Grey hairs, empty halls. Only born in growth.

  No more conventions in stadiums, now concentrated in own facility's.
