It was a strange time! Indoctrinated by working class history crazyness...

i am convinced that world history will go on and on, and don't believe in an end time scenario.. but... and... .
when events occure like trumps tomahawk strike on syria, putting bombing a place and many, many coalitions are made with friends and enemies, my thought are going back to a 40 years ago, when i was a litle boy raising up in a cold war naval harbour town in northwest europe.
my jw grandfather learned me to investigate history.

The bookstudy was in those years filled with long time ago and current history. It all came together in Fred Franz's prophecy books. The king of the north, the south and army's, tanks and rockets were the subject all culluminated in Armageddon.
So the world has not changed since then.
Do you still have this feeling with current events?

Now my father and mother are 70.
I can't believe living without them.
How are you living with that?

surely these men must see what's going on.
if they can afford fancy pinky rings, they must have smart phones.
if they have smart phones, they must be inquisitive as to how they are perceived.
They don't believe it for them self. They are the one who really know how the JW belief works. They know for sure there is no telephone line to upstairs. They know they are on top of the frame, that's it, there is no more. They must feel empty. And scared, to lose it all.

i'm at the stage where i'd love a big scandal to come along showing clearly that the j.w's are not the true religion, but sometimes i get touched inside by various thoughts or events, the russian court trial being one of them.. i mean, j.w's are understandably fixated with attending the memorial, so why didn't the court say it will resume on monday or tuesday, instead setting wednesday 12 april as the date?
part of me believes the comments from pro-j.w's that jehovah moved events so they could attend the memorial.. it seems the j.w's will not be banned, which makes my mind and heart wrestle between thinking jah's behind it, or maybe the ministry of justice is just woefully prepared compared to the superb australian royal commission team who did their homework.
it surprises me the russians seemingly haven't done any homework..
Sorry, Walt Disney story's enough...
And don't forget that even in Russia there is a legal system. Even in the USSR there was a kind of justice. The world is not black / white.

If it's fair, I doubt it, but one thing is true: Russia graps the Society by the balls! 😎
They attack them by their weak point: the organization!!

what i don't get about the russian petition action:.
watchtower launched at march, 21 the petition action.. in the instructions they write it can take 14 days for postal arrival in russia.. on april, 5 they expect legal clarification from the supreme court.. so, conclusion: the letters will arrive just around the day of clarification.. conclusion: this action is planned for media impact only.
if it was to make judges think, (what they don't do on a petition cry), .
Thanks for the many reactions. The relation between Watchtower and state has my great interest.
About China: during the 90's Watchtower used the phrase "Kingdom of peace" instead of kingdom, Gods kingdom and Jesus kingdom. It was used at some conventions and some articles.
An University professor with good connections with jw officials told me it was done for clearing up relations with the Chinese government.

Dreary,
What I mean to say is that this kind of proces, interaction between state and religion does not work effictive by using letters by members pretending to be general public. The other side of the table knows this and it disturbes a negotiation between involved party's.
It could be effective when there were made concessions. Like between China and the Watchtower during the 90's, when the Watchtower changed their definition of the word "Kingdom", for negotiation with the government.
Last moment action is a sign of ineffective negotiation. Case lost.
