from what i've studied of jw's, john 1:1 is interpreted as "and the logos was (a) god".

therefore, because there is no definite article in john 1:1 for example, one supposedly cannot confirm that jesus is referred to as "the god".

so my question for the jw is "what if jesus were reffered to with a definite article in the nt"?

Watchtower theology is very basic, however it is explainable. All theologies follow basic logical lines, its a matter of what you want to accept at some point. As for fear mongering they use Armageddon like some churches use Hell. All of it is pretty silly.

You really have to wonder at the spiritual and philosophical progress of someone who leaves the Witnesses and the accepts the dogma of Hell and the Trinity. That's like slipping on the cow paddy and landing flat on your back in the horse pile.

it's amazing to me how many of the exjws no longer believe in god.

i know some of you have many reasons to believe in what you do now.

but this is a big testimony to what the wts does to people's concept of god.

Are Atheists and Agnostics as socially and environmentally motivated as believers in a supreme being are. Do they have there own version of the Golden Rule and being their Brother's Keeper.

Whether you believe in a Supreme Being or not how do you want to leave your mark on history and what things are important for you to accomplish in your lifetime.

Check the Aid Book and the Insight on the Scriptures Book Vol.II under Jesus Christ and you will find their views on his prehuman life, human life and death, and resurrection and current state/nature. Dead to them means dead, no intermediate states. The appeal then is to Ro.10:9 where God does his part.

As to whether it has gaps in the story line, well that's for each person to decide. All theology has gaps.

I doubt all of the technical wrangling really matters that much. We have our work cut out for us making sure we pass this beautiful earth on to our grandchildren and their grandchildrren and on and on....

No, they do believe his divine state/nature is and was intrinsic, they just believe when he was a human he was not a god/man or angel/man.

In standard Christian theology the faithful are supposed to be in an intermediate state after their physical death and then with the Second Advent Jesus is to return to earth and these faithful are joined with their physical bodies (reconstitution) and live forever on this planet or perhaps, as some theorize, moving on in some post millennial plan.

S Not quite, their theology allows for Jesus to be a divine being, although distinct from God. His existence, in their view, is that he was divine prior to his human existence and he returned to the divine state/form post resurrection. He is viewed as having achieved a greater stature in his resurrected state. They will appeal to 1Cor.15:27,28 on that point.

Yes you are correct it would be his archangel life force, although it is never refered to as such. In Witness christology the prehuman Jesus is this one of a kind Son/Archangel and they appeal to Phil.2 like Spike has quoted and Heb.1:2,3. They also appeal to John 5 and 17 and the process identified as gifting where God graces his Son with all of his powers- the power to forgive, to redeem and save, to resurrect, to give eternal life etc..

DD Witness angelology about Jesus is different. Their view of him as Michael is as a one of a kind being/creature and different than Cherubs, Seraphs, messangers. And just so you know how 'Angel of the Lord' is viewed by Calvin, Luther, Matthew henry, august Strong etc., they all believed this "messanger' was Jesus in his pre-human existence, but consider this a designation not a marker as being an 'angel'.
