here's one example: being a congregation publisher.

nowhere in the bible does it say you should be a "publisher" and turn in your time if you preach.

they try to twist the scriptures by saying that numbers are constantly being recorded in the bible so then conforming to the rules of being a publisher is from the scriptures.. yeah, right..

There is not the tension or competition about who saves in scripture that you are trying to create in the witness position, although the nwt confuses the process in their rendering of the passages in Acts.

John 5 shows the process of power being grantd from Father to Son, this is symbiosis not an either or position. Christ is front and center leading humanity to God, his Father from whom he recieves the authority to save, pardon sin and resurrect.

That was pretty basic Jewish messianic theology of the period- see DSS 11Q13.

I believe God, however you image the supreme being, is a lot more compassionate than modern and past denominations of christianity have painted the maker of all things.

So yes, a Witness is a Christian, even though they believe in a form of extra ecclesium nulla salus.

How about you, do you see them as Christians. If not, what do you think your God is going to do to them.

Sabellianism/Trinity

it was an opposite heresy called sabellianism.

it is exactly what the wt has been saying is "the trinity", but which was thoroughly discounted and rejected by early christians.

The Zechariah story shows the protocol common in Jewish literature with angels being identified early on in the story as the messangers who dialogue in 1st and 3rd person in speaking of and for God. The Dead Sea Scrolls show similar literary styles, see 11Q13 and the story of the divine exalted being who is granted the powers of God to perform all types of miracles and forgive sins.

As for the Creeds that Bishops developed after the Apostles passed on- all you have to do is look at their history to see God left that train at the station.

The assumption or claim that Witnesses are not Christians is kind of a sophisticated claim without real merit.

Anyone who believes in the tenet of Romans 10:9, and Witnesses do, is technically considered a Christian. The disagreements on the Creeds is not the basis for labeling someone not a Christian.

i have come to understand that people who are jehovahs witnesses are for the most part, good and honest people.

just like people in other religions or for that matter, people who dont practice any religion.

and, like those other people, they also have their minority of people who are selfish, deceptive and not very nice.

The Witnesses do claim Russell as their founder but as I mentioned his beliefs and Witness beliefs are a different ends of the theological spectrum.

He started the Watchtower corp. but his beliefs were abandoned by Rutherford.

Just a note for accuracy- Charles Russell was not the founder of Jehovah's Witnesses, Joseph Rutherford was.

The Bible Student Associates of Charles Russell are a completely different religion than the Jehovah's Witnesses.

The Bible Students are Dispensationalists and have Autonomous Fellowships and believe the New Covenant is for Israel. They believe in universal salvation and that this Dispensation is for collecting the Body of Christ members.

Witnesses are conditional New Covenantists and believe in Central Church Authority. They believe in conditional and limited salvation and that this period is for collecting the literal 144,000 and the Great Crowd.

They are as night and day theologically and ecclesiastically as Pentecostals are from Presbyterians.

Most groups that have followed a Unitarian/Arius/Socinian model have been remarkedly non-violent. They tend towards universal salvation with the exception of Rutherford 's group who opted for second death classification on judgment day, but still they fundamentally are non-violent non warring in their general doctrine. Hard to say that about the Church of Rome, Protestants, and the Eastern Orthodox over the past 500 years.

Listen, try having an open discussion on theology in a Fundamentalist Baptist Church or Assembly of God Church or try disagreeing with the Westminster Confession in a Presbyterian Church. You'll be shown the door pretty quick.

Witnesses who walk out of one door and into another church aren't improving their lot in life by much. The trinity- the god who tortures.

Witnesses have all of the problems that high control groups experience but it is nothing in comparison to Christendom.

1900 years of trinitarian on trinitarian violence and bloodshed and imperialism. Now there is a history to be proud of.
