  The Long Goodbye......

  after a transatlantic discussion with my wife we have both reached the conclusion that we will not be posting to this board again.

  though we see the board as serving a useful purpose for some, it does not at present suit the path that we have chosen to walk to extract ourselves from the wts.. this board is in an invaluable place for those of you who have recently left the wts and need a place to stretch your wings and share you hurt and pain.

  but once we learn to fly, it seems important that we should leave the nest as quickly as possible, lest we become caught in a vacuum between the wts and real life.

  I am sorry to see you go. Your imput on boards like this is sorely needed. But you must decide for yourself where the "river" flows because as you can see the JW "afterlife" on discussion boards is not a very pretty sight sometimes. Perhaps your efforts would be better served in another arena of the JW and XJW world.

  Some here seem to feel that the "soil" must first be sterilized in order to stimulate new growth in others. The result is a sad copy-cat version of the Watchtower but with a "GB", of sorts, that claims to have insights into the MINDS of others and can therefore judge their intent, character and motive.

  So much for a "new" life! The struggle remains, there are still some who claim the right of knowing good and bad not just for themselves but for others also. There is an offer of freedom but only their "approved" freedom. This is very remindful of the place we have tried to leave.

  Hi waiting,

  It's true, our experiences in the JW congregations are influenced by the congregation or area we live in.

  The PO of my congregation was not afraid to take advice from women and follow through on it. He at times put sisters in charge of certain projects and did not appoint a male "head" for that project. He wisely put to use the "valuable" resource at his disposal. He recognized their intelligence and varied abilities to get a job done as well as their individual abilities to take the lead.

  What he made for himself was a small army of women who loved him
  and would "go to the ends of the earth" to help him out. He showed us respect and love and it was returned two-fold.

  If only there were more like him!

  i am a new to posting on this board though i have been actively reading your posts the past while and i thank some of you for the interesting viewpoints that you have verbalized and that i have enjoyed thinking on.

  i am still an active jw, in fact an elder of 20 years standing hence my need to limit information about my personal circumstances.

  i have served in a number of countries in europe as a pioneer and elder over the past three decades.

  I do not believe in the doctrine of "community responsibility". IMO Abraham's questioning of the Almighty about the rightness of destroying the righteous along with the wicked and the response he was given, disproves the doctrine.

  in luke 21:12 it says **before** this you will be persecuted.

  i have my own explaination, but it is quite radical and so.

  "Spring Cleaning" has been on my mind the last few weeks. It is really very interesting this leaving the JWs thing, this learning to live thing, this accepting the unacceptable thing, this learning to recognize the approaching turn in the road thing.

  Fear of throwing away something we might need later or that we have become attached to but really no longer need keeps us from "clearing away" and making room for new ways, new "things" to be discovered around that turn in the road.

  So, to go along with your theme it is time to "put to sleep" some things, burn others, and keep the "me"!
