The Royalty stepped in the Paul Burrell trial and used its power pretty well. It would seem the reason was to prevent Burrell from spilling more beans. Its like trying to plug a colander, though.

- Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:
- 1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
- 2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
- 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
- 4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
- 5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.
- 6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
- 7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
- 8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed
- to the government's policies or actions.
- 9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
- 10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
- 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.
- 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
- 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
- 14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Well if he is or was he should have kept his behavioural disorder to himself and not involve Diana. I suppose you got to produce an heir at some point. Diana was a very attractive lady with a nice disposition....hard to imagine any guy not loving her etc.

The video was uncovered by detectives investigating theft allegations against former royal butler Paul Burrell during a raid at his home two years ago.
They were looking for evidence for his trial which eventually ended with his aquittal.
In the secret tape, made in the mid-1990s, Diana also attacks the bizarre relationship between Prince Charles and his butler, Michael Fawcett. And she tells of her yearning to run off with 'James' and start a new life with him and her children. Though she doesn't give his surname, the man is believed to be her one-time lover James Hewitt.
The bombshell tape lay hidden for five years in the loft of former butler Paul Burrell. In it, the Princess appears softly spoken and sad one minute, while the next she is sobbing or raging against the treatment she received at the hands of the Royal Family.
Of her marriage she is understood to say: "I am not loved. Charles just loves Charles and his position. I have tried to love Charles but he loves someone else." She revealed that although she and her husband lived together at that time, they had only a "father and daughter" relationship.
Dressed demurely in pink cardigan, white blouse and pearl earrings, she claims Charles once told her that her only purpose was to provide an heir to the throne.
Although she does not name Camilla Parker Bowles, she adds that she is sure Charles is doing "something with someone else" because he is always so "disinterested" in their relationship. After a tirade against the fawning royal servants, she is understood to say: "It's not an equal relationship. It's 100 per cent what Charles says he gets, plus we don't even sleep together".
She attributes much of the blame to Fawcett, who was recently forced to quit his job in the royal gifts-for-sale scandel. She says she can't come between them as there will be "eruptions". And she complains that she and her husband can never talk like a normal married couple because Fawcett is always there "next to Charles".

At one point she says she is feeling more secure now than she has ever felt - this again is thought to be a reference to Hewitt.
She worries frquently about her sons and says Prince William will make a better king than Charles will ever be. Then she says she hopes William and Harry will have better lives than her "drab existance".
Finally she turns her wrath on other members of the Royal Family. She claims the Queen doesn't like her, dismissing her as "dizzy". Then, her anger mounting, she adds: "As for Philip. I am sure he is short of a picnic (sic). I wonder if he doesn't have Alzheimer's, you just can't get through to him. Is this how Charles will turn out?"
At the end of the tape a male voice in the background says "that's enough" and the tape ends. -

The figure is well above that of the ladybird population outside the UK capital and scientists have been looking for an explanation."We think it's the car pollution," Dr Greg Hurst of University College London told the BBC. Ladybirds feed on greenfly and greenfly thrive in polluted conditions.
It seems that in London, the greenfly do so well that the ladybirds breed very quickly and their generations get mixed up; one generation may easily breed with the next or previous one.
'Remarkably promiscuous'
This increases the transmission of the sexually transmitted disease.
"When they come out from over-wintering, they are remarkable promiscuous," Dr Hurst said. "They actually get the highest prevalence of sexually transmitted infections of virtually any insect.
"By the end of May, 80-95% of adult ladybirds will have acquired a sexually transmitted infection."
Fortunately for the ladybirds, the effects of the disease are not severe.
"This disease is very mild and benign. In Eastern Europe, the ladybirds get a more serious disease which makes them sterile; so once they've got the disease, they've got about 17 days' breeding left," said Dr Hurst.
UK ladybirds suffer from a fungal STD. The affliction is one of many subjects addressed at an international symposium on insects at the University of Reading, UK.
