Fallacy of Baptism "in Holy Spirit"!

to witnesses the world over it's a basic teaching which even the kids understand; "humans with heavenly prospects have been baptized in water and with holy spirit and are thus spirit-begotten disciples of jesus.

Quite correct.

Everyone that is baptized and repents and believes that Christ is Lord, receives the HS.

Paul himself states that no man can proclaim and believe that Christ is Lord ( and all that goes with that proclamation and belief) unless He has the HS.

Now, does that mean that ALL that are baptizzed or all that proclaim HAVE the HS?

Personally I don't think so BUT it is not for any believer to judge another in that way.

Leave that one up to Father and Son.

Can one that has the HS "lose" it?

Yes, and no.

They can deny the HS, yes and I guess that can be viewed as losing, but it is more like blaspheming against the HS.

I don't think that many that have the HS deny Him, I think that many proclaim to have it ot proclaim Christ because they are "born in" or because they believe they are expected to or because they believe that in doing so, they are somehow "special" or "unique" and then, when they realize that is not the case, they "lose their faith". Sometimes their faith is tested ( by themselves) and they come up wanting.

Is God Truly Omnipotent??

while acknowledging god as the most powerful force in the universe, i wonder if he is omnipotent.

this thought came to me as i watched an old star trek: tng, where everyone's favorite fictional omnipotent being, q, was featured.. .

if he is omnipotent, why could he not remove the "bitter cup" of suffering from christ in the garden?

Those are the correct views of what omnipotence is taking inbto account that "all powerful" doesn't mean "powerful enough to do what is impossible to do" - create a round square for example.

Is the Trinitarian view point correct based on this passage-Titus 2:13?

titus 2:13- "while we wait for the blessed hope-the appearing of the glory of our great god and savior, jesus christ, " .

the part in question lies at the end of the passage "...of our great god and savior, jesus christ,".

*granville sharp's rule-when you have two nouns, which are not proper names (such as cephas, or paul, or timothy), which are describing a person, and the two nouns are connected by the word "and," and the first noun has the article ("the") while the second does not, *both nouns are referring to the same person.. this, as far as i know, has been an ongoing argument among trinitarians and non trinitarians for a very long time.

I agree, Phizzy. I don't think the OT writers had a clue that the Messiah was going to be God (or YHWH) Himself.

See, this is what leads to and cause confusion.

The messiah was not "God Himself", it was the Son of God.

Is the distinction important? Yes.

Why?

To fully understand that when the OT writers and prophets spoke of God, they spoke of The Father and not a "triune deity" that had not been revealed to them yet.

There are clues of course, such as the 3 visitors to Abe and Isaiah stating that the messiah will be called Might God and Everlating Father.

But it is clear that no fist century Jew expected an incarnate Son of God to be the Messiah much less HOW He was going to be the Messiah.

Stauros (σταυρ?ς) is the Greek word, usually translated cross, that in the Bible is used in reference to the device on which Jesus was executed. The meaning of the word has changed over the centuries.

i've recently been thinking about our culture and how christianity in our western culture has failed to keep up with advancements in science.

I think that, with John being a former student, that it might be an emotional thing for Craig.

Who knows but I don't think that I would take any pleasure in debating a student.

WHen I did martial arts and competed, at one pint I had to fight a student, it was not a good time for me...

I am sure that Leolaia can clear this up for you guys, linguistics is her specialty.

There is no single passage that can validate or invalidate the Trinity doctrine.

The only people that have issues with the Trinity doctrine arte those that tend to think it means that The Father and The Son are the same person.

They tend to think that God is the "name" of The father and Jesu being God make shim His Father.

The trinity says nothing of that.

It states that Jesus is of the same NATURE as The Father, hence God and that the HS is God's spirit (hence God).
