What Religion Are You?

i see that there are many people on here who've left the jw's and are still christians...but i wonder what type?

non denominational?

has anyone changed to something completely different like hindu or buddhism?

I think that church, for some, is crucial in getting close to God, but the truth be it saod, formost its more about the social gathering than God.

I have never been a big fan of "mass religion", "mass prayer", "mass celebrations", etc.

I think that many times the church becomes the stumbling block for the valid issue we see in our choosen faith, we see them, we want to raise the questions but have concerns about not being part of the social "church family" that we have come to identify ourselves with.

I take Matthew to heart, "Wherever two or more speak of me, I wil be there", "Pray not in public, but in a closet".

Its a very good question, when all is said and done.

I don't do the label thing myself, but if I had, it would be tricky:

I am not:

Roman catholic - Do not recgnize the authority of the pope or agree on the Trinity.

Protestant ( all versions) - Don't agree with the Trinity

Actually, pretty much any denomination that agrees with the Trinity as a DOCTRINE, I don't agree, to me it is simply an interpretation of the relationship between God, Jesus and the HS.

I am NOT a JW's - too many reasons to list

Not an orhotdox christian either....

I am, ( YWHW pun un-intended) simple a Christian, someone who believes in One God, His only divine Son through whom all comes and all is possible, The HS that is the messenger and teacher of The Father, through the Son.

I view the Bible as inspired and historical and that it must be studied and viewed with a critical eye.

Don't know WTF that makes me, LOL !

RE: Abortion,

I don't know of anyone that view abortion as a form of Birth Control like conterceptives.

Everyone I know that is in favour of a woman's right to choose basically ASSUME that the woman has decided that there is no other viable option of her than an surgical intervention, no one ever sees it as a womans "first choice".

I think, outside extremists, all people view it that way.

who was it written by and why or in other words who, what, when, where, why.. wanted to know for the upcoming wt recital.. another question was just what was happening in and around jerusalem from 45 ce up to its destruction.

how was everday life?

what factions were vieing for dominance etc.. .

While some scholars have debated on the authorship of Hebrews base don things like textual critique and such and perhaps have valid points, we do need to remember that Paul tend to write for his audience and Hebrews would have been written quite differently than to Romans or such.

Certainly if it was not Paul, it was someone under his direct influence.

I think there was a Koren research that did some seriosu work on that and concluded that it probably was Paul who wrote it...

this was the same man at different times in his life yet he changed his name because he completely changed his ideals and goals too.

both were extremely zealous, both thought they were doing gods work, both thought they were working for the greater good.. acts 8:3 (new international version)3but saul began to destroy the church.

going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.. soul thought gods work was to destroy the christians but paul.... acts 20: 19i served the lord with great humility and with tears, although i was severely tested by the plots of the jews.

To me, and when we speak of interpretations we are always speaking in rgeards to yourselves, the role of Jesus in the New Covenant is clear:

He is the Lord, Our Salvation, Our Redeemer and Our Judge, he is our heavenly Bother, He and God are one, you can't have one without the other, God works through Jesus and Jesus is, for all intents and purposes, God, though he is NOT God (YHWH), he is the Son of God, the ONLY SOn Of GOd, the living Word of God, in perfect union with the Father.

All the God was in the old covenant, Jesus is and THROUGH HIM, and not the laws and traditions of the Old Covenant, do we reach God and our Salvation.

I think that, if you start off with a view that God is cruel and uncaring and does horrif things to people, creats all this miseries that happen, there is nothing short of a miracle that will change your mind.

Granted that the bible, the OT in particualr, doesn't always pain a great picture of God and certainly Revelation adds to that horrific view for many, that said, we need to remember that God is far more than the words of Mortal men, mortal men that at times like to use God as an excuse for many atrocities that they commit.

I think it was Big Tex that mentioend that simple answers to complex questions are never good, and he has a valid point, but if I can use the example a friend of mine gave me to make a point:

We put a Man on the Moon, we wend from Wilbur and Orvil Wright "flying" in 1903 to space flight in 1969, we split the atom and so much more, you telling me we can't ( to go back to another topic matter) cure Malaria ? feed the hngry? fix water shortages?

Fact is, regardless of what are views where something came from, chances are we are more than able to fix it.

If you truly believe that God is responsible for all that you stated and what is yet possible to come, well, then I guess that you are quite correct to have issues with God, IF MY God was liek that, I would probably have issues with him too !!

Ok have you ever been asked this question in regards to Isaiah 43:10 ?

how could god have always existed since it plainly says near the end of that verse before me there was no god formed?.

here is the quote from the nwt and i also looked it up on numerous other translations and they all used the word before.. .

Even if we are to agree that the HS is God's active force, doesn't that mean thatit has all the charateristics that God gives it?
