Genesis 3:16 - As to ALL Women... or One Woman? A Favor, Please...

may you all have peace!.

so, as some of you might know (or discern)... or not... i am not your usual submissive/in subjection kind of girl.

given what some apparently expect of women... as wives, daughters, female friends... and in general... i was curious about the greater fulfillment of genesis 3:16, because many are of the belief that it applies to all women as to all men... (including those that aren't their husbands)... and not the just one being addressed at the time (eve as to adham).. personally, other than paul's position on women teaching in public (which was borne of what was occurring in the region at the time, due to by-then jewish culture and roman occupation)... and peter's admonishment for wives to submit themselves to their own husbands... that i know of nothing that validates a woman being in subjection to anyone other than her own husband, and even then such "subjection" is not puerile or unrestrained (so as to just be a given), but borne of love and respect for her husband (in which case it should not be difficult)... who is obligated to honor her, as well.

There are times that my wife "submits" to my authority in certian matters and there are times when I "submit" to hers.

It would be silly to do otherwise because that would be going with the view/opinion of the person that knows trhe least about the subject at hand.

She loves technology and I am indifferent, so when it comes to that stuff, I "submit" to her view and opinion on those matters.

When it comes to finacial matters, she is horrible with budgets so that becomes my "job" and she "submits" to that.

In most things we are totally equal and in some things we are not.

I believe in equality amongst equals.

And we are not all equals.

There are times when she needs to be reminded of "her place" and there are times when she reminds me of MY "place".

Love works that way, our love sustains are relationship and the roles we are best at.

ACtually, the important part of those passages, IMO, is that God "gives them up" to what they want to do.

Basically and like CS Lewis said:

Either we say to God, "Thy will be done" or God says to us, "thy will be done".

In short, when we do what we know to be wrong for Us, we choose to say to God, "MY will superceedes yours" and God says, " So be it" and we have no further excuse in regards to the consequences of our actions.

Context gentlemen,

The article pointed out the hypocracy ( and arrogance) of that particular comment by Dawkins ( that most christians don't even know the name of the first chapter/book in the NT - Gospel of Matthew, though some world argue that it should be Mark- and that Dawkins himslef didn't know the name of the fist chapter od the Darwinist "bible" The Origin of Species when he said he did).

I don't care what a evolutionary biologist thinks about Christian Theology, just like I don't care what a CHristian Theologist thinks about evolutionary biology.

Not sure why people think being an expert in one field makes their opinion in another field ( especially a polar opposite) any more valid than that of a "layman".

We all tend to be arrogant at times and yes, Dawkins can come off that way at times and this situation here is a prime example BUT I think that average Christian cares as much about Dawkins opinion on CHristianity as the average Atheist cares about the Bishop of Durham's opinion on natural selection.

This isn't really about the noah story, it's about how feesible it is that the current human population we have now could have come from a small group pf people.

According to the article, they are going with a .75% growth rate since the flood ( which takes into account wars, famines, things like that) and my question yes, do the number add up?

I am not an anthropologist so I have no idead how valid the argument is.

Now, the question is, did they?

Did Israel wipe them out and kill all "men, women, children and livestock"?

No.

So, did Israel disobey God?

Scholars have varying opinions on this but one of the views is that the language used was the typical language of the day to dsescribe the "totality" of the war.

Much like we say that the "every living thing was wiped out" or "kill them all and let God sort them out".

Of course none of that changes that it was written that God command a war and commanded killing.

I guess what needs to be asked is, was it a justified and moral command?

Evidence of Supernatural Ability

a) what they would consider to be a supernatural ability and.

b) what they would consider sufficient evidence to convince them it was genuine.. (it's late here so if i don't participate for the next few hours don't think i cut and run :)).

Something unexplainable by natural law ( Laws as we have them now of course).

I think there is some confusion about what defines someone as a Christian and what MAKES them a Christian.

Any person that follows the teachings of Christ is, by definition a follower of Christ, but does that make them a Christian?

The term Christian means "annointed" so, going by the definition of the word, only those that believe themselves to be annointed by the HS and CHrist are Christians.

But does that MAKE them Christians or is being a Christian also being about HOW someone follows the teachings of Christ?

Dammned if I know, LOL !
