@DerekMoors I think that's a great point about the commercialization of it. Lloyd's work feels very commercial in a way that's pushing his brand. That's something he has done from the start. It seems like his Dad is wealthy so he probably learned a bit from him about the business side. He's definitely the only person in the hall that manages to make a pyramid fly-by-night scheme work for them. Pressuring the newbies to buy from you by hosting a "party".

No, I don't think this thread gives him importance. In fact, I think it's a good representation and document on a grifter who may be grifting still. I'm one of the people who he is suing so he is very relevant to me. Just like with Kim, who has been harassed at his direction by his defenders and which he all but ignores. This is a person who was doing a grift on a vulnerable group of people. People who were already grifted once in a major way. Some were physically/emotionally/sexually abused. Never once did he apologize for it. Which means he is a bold grifter.
We should be doing everything we can to ensure he doesn't do it again. He should absolutely not be harassed in my opinion. He should certainly be talked about. He should be talked about often, so that people who want to embrace him have all the facts. No different then what is done about another cult many "obsess" over.

I used to produce a lot of content commercially. Even wrote and produced a few national TV commercials. What Lloyd does for a living is relatively easy work. He has a manufacturing approach to content. Meaning he can just have an assembly line going.
He doesn't have to take time to be creative since everything follows a format. A professional has set everything up for him shooting-wise, so no work there. All the editing is done for him, again no work needed. The research is mostly done for him (by us and others), and he's already an expert on policy having been an elder. He also was trained to be a speaker. So those last two come naturally.
All he really has to do work-wise is pick the subject and do a few takes then review the edit. Probably max 2 days of work for a big video. When he collaborates or does interviews those are probably the days for him that feel like "real" work. Working with friends, and just having to listen.
When I did it for living it was the best easiest job I had. But, I saw firsthand if I had to do it all alone it would be stressful as hell for not a lot of payoff. Burnout eventually comes fast.

I think Lloyd had a few things going for him. For one he was the face of jwsurvey. I remember when it started I thought it was a fantastic idea. Social media and digital was moving more towards an analytical way of influencing people. I was doing digital marketing at the time and had a lot of ideas of how you could flip that data and wanted to help with it. There wasn't really a centralized place that used data as a strength.
The other issue I remember at the time was that many in the ex-jw youtube community felt a bit extreme. That extreme view is sometimes hard to take when just exiting. Lloyd felt like a more nuanced approach and once he tapped into a real editor you had a good combo for those just leaving. He was able to ride the first big wave of YouTube content producers. So like anything, with a little luck and a good idea anyone can make it.
The perfect storm for a narcissist. Do a little bit of work, get a huge reward and then scheme a way to keep doing as little work as possible off the backs of others...for free!

He hilariously made the analogy he was like a doctor in that bizarre statement (I think it was there anyways) that read like a politician who just got a subpoena. What's stupid about it is doctors get fired all the time for making ethically and morally bad decisions that make the hospital they work at look bad. You can make a dumb tweet and get fired. Lloyd is so clueless. That's what happens though when you've been shielded from the realities of the real world.

When this all went down I had a pretty friendly back-and-forth with Tibor because he said he was willing to talk. However, he went totally radio silent when I asked these questions:
Thanks for attempting to answer my quesiton. You say that Lloyd understands it's bad. But does he? He refuses to apologize for it. He says that it doesn't matter if he uses funds from Patreon and it's no one's business. If you believe prostitution is bad as you claim why do you publicly stand by someone who doesn't find it bad? You say there is no proof he used funds. Yet he publicly stated it was no one's business if he did. What is the point of saying this if he didn't use funds? He has since changed his claims over what funds were used when the public was upset. So if you had evidence that say Patreon funds were used, would you even change your opinion?
I guess what I'm trying to get at is, why do you feel it ok for Lloyd to imply that none of this is a problem? Why do you feel it is ok for Lloyd to call people who do have a problem with it terrible people or still stuck in an "ex JW mindset"?
Why do you find it ok for Lloyd to name-call anyone who criticizes him yet you take a stand against those who name-call him/you?
Can you see how that immediately can rub people the wrong way. Do you feel that Lloyd has no culpability in any of this? This told me all I needed to know when he couldn't even answer one of these questions.

The biggest issue he could have in the lawsuit is that even IF he could convince a court that the M7 knew what they were saying was lie AND used that lie with the express purpose of harming him, he would still need to prove damages. A good defense lawyer would, as has been repeated over and over again, will simply show the video and then show other videos/social media where Patreons stated it was HIS words that made them leave. Patreon is his best proof of "harm" outside of reputation so even if he could win the damages awarded, they would likely not be much.

Exactly, and like most politicians, all he can do is hope to run out the clock. The problem he has is his circle is so small it's gonna be almost impossible to do. Plus with younger more hip talent rising on YouTube/TikTok he starts to become forgotten. He thinks he is Teflon Don when in reality he's more like Anthony Weiner, it just took people a while to really figure it out.

@Simon
"I agree. I was sympathetic at first but as time has gone on it's clear she doesn't want to help herself and she lives off the proceeds, so she's part of the grift"
Plenty of JW's do insanely stupid things. They for years will do whatever someone in the KH tells them if it aligns with WT. Deep down they're good people and don't want to do it but yet they do. It doesn't excuse what they did but it does allow for some empathy when they do finally leave. Part of me still believes for her it's the same thing.
Hopefully, she sees the light but I agree at some point it's not worth trying to defend or help someone who can't help themselves.

Def one of the greatest episodes of all time. Lloyd is Sideshow Bob to a tee. Intelligent but someone whose ego always foils him.
