Spike, I take your point - I was trying to put into words how I feel about some of the policies of the WTS. I do not see them as either friend or foe and do not have an axe to grind so my comments are purely descriptive of my observations.

A couple I know were accepted to Gilead
by BonaFide in128th class.
starts this fall.
so the celebratory and going-away gatherings have started.

I am really pleased for anyone who gains happiness from the assignments given to them. I have friends who have been assigned as CO, Gilead Students, MTS etc. and they have loved it. I also know that some like Awakened at Gilead become dissillusioned by the whole experience. So I wish your friends the best and hope thier expectations are met.

e-mail news media-expose Michael Jackson's Jehovah's Witness connection
by koolaid-man inthe news media seems to be reluctant in bringing up the fact of michael jackson's involvement with jehovah's witnesses.
the public deserves to know the adverse influence the witness belief system imposes on people.
the watchtower organization seemed to instill much fear into michael jackson as you can read in the following e-mail being sent to news agencies.

MJ's level of involvement with the Witnesses was minimal at best. He was due to the ambitions of his abusive father, performing on stage and screen rather being a full time witness. I doubt very much whether his behaviour had anything to do with his mother being a Witness. Let's not forget that he was a genius and there is always a fine line between genius and crackpot!!!!!!!!

Most other organisations do not claim to be the exclusive channel through which a person can build a relationship with God, except of course other religions. I expect political leaders to be corrupt, they are generally self serving or at least serving their party. I expect business leaders to show little moral backbone, they need to compete in a dog eat dog world to make enough profit to satisfy all their stakeholders.
The GB on the other hand are very quick to criticise the political and business leaders saying they are part of Satan's world, so I expect the GB to act differently. I expect them to disseminate information accurately and honestly. I expect them to appoint CO's who will support the rank and file in the Congregation and not listen to lies and rumours spread by some ambitious, nepotistic elders who don't care for sheep they are entrusted to take care of. I don't expect the GB to add or take away from scripture. Jehovah is almighty he has the ability to direct and control the nuclear fusion process in trillions of stars in billions of galaxies, so surely he would control the leaders who represent him so that they don't make mistakes that cause heartache and pain to so many.
In terms of going back to basics that is exactly what I am doing. I am re-evaluating what my faith means to me. I am studying things with an open mind, I refuse to be influenced by anyone's (or organisation's) preconcieved ideas. I really am doing what I have been advised by the society, taking my personal study very seriously. I am starting by reading the bible, checking to see with more sources than you can imagine, whether the interpretation I have been sold for my entire life really stacks up.
I am not looking to prove the WTS wrong, quite the opposite, as I said right at the beginning of this thread, the "truth" has been the centre of my life everyone I love is a Witness. I run my own business and most of my clients and employees are witnesses. But I cannot live a lie, I can't have my children growing up in isolation from normal society for a heap of false promises. I did not dedicate myself to live in the new system, I did so because because I am grateful for what God has provided, so dates have never been important me. However, I am coming to the conclusion that most witnesses are in it to get a reward, and the WTS uses that as a stick to beat them with. If you don't do what they say you will not get that reward. So they can say what they like and throw in a scripture to justify it and over 6 million people go along with it.
I am never going to get involved in arguments about silly illogical doctrines like the Trinity or Hellfire on here because they are not important to me and I don't care what anyone else thinks.

well any way those stupid elders whom i knew personally for many years wanted to know every juicy (no pun intended) tid bit of what went on between me and this good friend of mine, a long time sister in good standing, i told them what the hell, you guys dont know what sex is!

I actually had someone in my cong confess to me that he and his wife practiced oral - I just told him that between you and her and no one elses business don't mention it to anyone else(I couldn't in good conscience say anything else ). He was concerned that it might affect the spirit of the congregation - poor guy if only he knew what real sordid stuff goes on within the Cong.

I amazed my introduction has caused so much controversy. I think everyone has a right give their view on such a debate and it is refreshing to have such open discussions. I am so glad that so many here can relate to my predicament due to having had similar experiences to myself. I am also pleased that Reniaa is here voicing her views, she is entitled to do so, and believe me I would love to think that I haven't wastedover 40 years on a lie, so if I can be convinced that I am wrong in my deductions about the truth I would be delighted. Sadly I do not think that is going to happen, but don't give up Reniaa! The WTS has stifled debate and this is very worrying since the bible tells us to "make sure of all things" and how are we suspossed to do that if the only message we are allowed to discuss is from them? As previously stated I still believe in God, I made "the truth my own" after studying the Physical Sciences to graduaute level and I am convinced that intelligent design is demonstrated in everything around us. I also believe that God demonstrates love for us by his creation and so must have an interest in the outcome of the Human Race. He has given us free will and a spiritual side to help us find him, it seems a shame that a control freak organisation has manipulated this inbuilt desire? I still don't know what they get from it, as far as I know no fat cat is making a fortune out of the Rank and File. maybe you guts can enlighten me.
