Which Public Talks did you enjoy giving/hearing? And which ones did you dislike giving or hearing?
by humblepotato ini was just going through some of my talk outlines and i've decided to git rid of quite a few of them.
i'm still serving, but as time goes on... there are many subjects i will not teach anymore.. i got rid of the outlines dealing with blood, the field ministry, and ones talking about 607 and 1914. i can barely stand hearing them let alone give them.
in fact, talk 41 "stand still and see the salvation of jehovah" is one i got rid of because its whole point was about having blind obedience toward the gb and the elders during the great tribulation, and that we need to start practicing obedience now if we want to survive.

I used to love giving "The wonders of God's creation", I cringe at what I used to say now.

I just don't understand this, what am I missing???
by Greybeard inas i am watching this video about changes at bethel, the speaker said, "aren't we glad the faithful and discrete slave continues to make adjustments when necessary.
what about this change?
"finally, we examined why jesus’ arrival to appoint the faithful slave over all his belongings did not occur in 1919 but will take place during the great tribulation" that is from this online watchtower article last paragraph: https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/w20130715/jesus-prophecy-last-days/ .

Challenge to Creationists
by cofty inin response to the 37 threads in my evolution is a fact series - see bottom of op for links - perry posted a link to an article "44 reasons why evolution isn't true".. i offered him a challenge on the thread and by pm.
predictably he is totally ignoring it, so i am offering the challenge to any evolution-denier who thinks they have evidence to support their position.. please present one specific piece of evidence for creationism.. my task will be to refute it with evidence within 24 hours.. then i will present one piece of evidence for evolution and your challenge will be the same.. all posts must be as succinct as reasonably possible.
entirely in your own words, without copy-paste, videos or links.. please post your interest to take part and we will set it up before the first actual post in the exchange.

Vidqun....
As with all evidence for common ancestry and evolution there are many strands of evidence which come together to create a strong case for the emergence of eukaryotes.
The evidence that supports the theory that eukaryotic cells are the descendants of separate prokaryotic cells that combined by invagination resulting in a symbiotic union rest primarily with their physiology and structure. It specifically centres around physiology and structure of two specific organelles, mitochondria and chloroplasts which are similar in size and morphology to ancient bacterial prokaryotic cells.
Mitochondria and chloroplasts are clones of pre-existing mitochondria and chloroplasts reproducing by a type of asexual reproduction called binary fission, this a prokaryote bacterial trait and not the eukaryotic method (mitosis). Why would two systems of reproduction occur within a single cell unless these organelles have a different ancestry from the nucleus?
The membranes of the chloroplasts and mitochondria have different chemistries within their membrane systems. Mitochondria and chloroplasts possess a double membrane the outer membrane corresponds to the membranes found in prokaryotic bacteria whereas the inner membrane’s chemistry is of a different chemical composition very similar to that of eukaryotic bacteria.
In these organelles the enzymes and inner membrane systems resemble prokaryotic inner membrane systems whereas outer membrane is of similar composition to the plasma membrane, and other organelles such as the endoplasmic reticulum or nuclear membrane of the eukaryote. These chemical mismatches are most readily explained by the theory that prokaryotes were absorbed and formed a symbiotic relationship.
Finally mitochondria and chloroplasts have their own DNA resembling that of bacterial prokaryotic cells and they also possess their own ribosomes which also resemble bacterial prokaryotic cells: The DNA of mitochondria and chloroplasts is different from that of the eukaryotic cell in which they are found. Both types of organelle include circular, not linear DNA, a characteristic of prokaryotes.

Vidquin. Never quote a reference you have have not read. Your very sloppy use of Jerry Bergmen's article on the Institute for Creation "Science",(a complete travesty of a site BTW), references Blechschmidt's book, which describes the path of the laryngeal nerve during the embryonic development, but no where does that book refute the evolutionary development.
The sloppy Bergmen article actually writes
Professor Erich Blechschmidt wrote that the recurrent laryngeal nerve's seemingly poor design in adults is due to the "necessary consequences of developmental dynamics," not historical carryovers from evolution
Note the highlighted text is not from the original Blechschmidt text but an inference made by Bermen that is not inferred from the original text. The book is about embryology not evolutionary development and never once refers to evolutionary development..
Likewise, there is no reference to evolutionary development in either the 1999 Sturmiolo paper "The Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Related to Thyroid Surgery", which is an evaluation of surgical procedures (you can read the abstract here) or the Steinberg's 1986 paper "Anatomy of the recurrent laryngeal nerve," which is just an anatomical description, not an evolutionary history.
Bergmen tries to make out the sub-optimal design is a consequence of embryonic development when he states in his ridiculous article "For the laryngeal nerve, the ligamentum arteriosum functions like the hyoid bone to allow movement. Nerves cannot normally be severed during foetal development and then regrown somewhere else, nor can the body sever nerves to allow the movement of existing nerves elsewhere where they reconnect "
He is stating exactly the point Cofty makes in the opening post, only rather than looking at the evolutionary cause, he is putting it down to embryonic development.. Embryonic development, of course, reflects what happened during evolution. The bottom line is that if the Laryngeal nerve was designed it would go directly from A - B without detouring via C.

Are there more ex-witnesses than current witnesses?
by stuckinarut2 infor years the society has said that over 40,000 a year are disfellowshipped.
add to that the 10's of thousands who simply disassociate or fade.... so by that logic, would it be correct to assume there are actually more former witnesses on the earth than the number of current active witnesses ?

Broad and spacious is the road to destruction, the road to life is narrow and few are the ones finding it!
Jehovah only picks those who he wants............Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah!
I am sure there are more Ex-dubs / never baptised kids of dubs, than those currently active.

Damaging Children With the Christian Gospel
by cofty inthe christian gospel begins with the dehumanising assertion that all humans are fallen sinners who deserve nothing but god's judgement and wrath.. not only does this taint all relationships between christians and unbelievers, it destroys the beautiful innocence of childhood.
in a recent edition of the popular christian radio program "family life today", titled “introducing your child to god,” co-host bob lepine discussed teaching “practical theology” to his young daughter, explaining:.
when my daughter, amy, was still less than two years old, i started teaching practical theology to her.
