Anyone else dealing with the flu?
by frozen one ini left work early on wed as i was starting to cough and my nose was running.
i thought it was just a cold.
got home, took some stuff, went to take a nap...and i doubt that i left my bed for more than 4 hours in the next 48. i did check the mayo site and found i had 7 of the nine listed symptoms for the flu.

Ancient International Standard of Measurement - The Inch
by hotspur inall this kerfuffle over the year 607 threw up an interesting side issue for me.. some posts relate to the wts use of chronology derived from ctrussell's "divine plan of the ages" and "studies in the scriptures".
within those pages are found some explanations of how the years 1874 and, later, 1914 were 'decided'.
it seems there was a remeasuring of a particular tunnel within the great pyramid of gizeh which was, subsequently, found to be 40 inches longer.

Do you wear a poppy?
by dozy ini always wished that i could wear a poppy on the run-up to rememberance sunday ( for details on this british commonwealth custom see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/poppy_day ) and often used to buy a poppy but binned it before anyone saw me wearing one.
as i understand it , it is a dfing offence ,though i cant see anything explicity in the wts literature.
anybody who is faded but not dfd worn one and what feedback did you get?.

I don't see the custom in my state anymore. Has poppy-wearing gone out of style in the U.S.?
I think they found a new kind of poppy

Aren't Jehovah's Witnesses living within ancient mythology outside of modern reality ?
by The Almighty Homer inafter leaving the jws and religion all together, i still find it disturbing that people like the jws are trying to emulate the social morals of a culture that was .
around 2000 years ago and using these particular social morals as a guidance to themselves.
didn't mankind progress since then and aren't we still progressing in a better and fulfilling way ?

I have heard the term by an elder on the platform that we are living in a modern day Sadom and Gamorrah,
Being at the KH or around JW's is like being controlled by the modern day Pharisees that Jesus talks about @ Mathew 23

Creationist Evolution
by GapingMouth ini've been having some small but effective chats with my wife of late.
she is, i hope, starting to think about some things a bit better now regarding the wts.
when i told her of the rule about not hugging in the prayer, she thought it so absurd and thought i was telling lies until she saw it herself.

Evolution I do not know enough to agree or disagree with. I do beleive that there must be a higher power that is doing the creations and what ever this higher power is called or how ever this power does it I don't know either.
Funny thing though that the bible does not mention dinosaurs, and the time frame that the bible gives for when the earth was created does not go back far enough for when the dinosaurs were created. According to science and the bible does not match on time frames.
I hope I made some sense in what I just said...

Why Do Jehovah's Witnesses Use the Term "Manmade Religions"?
by Cold Steel inover the years, and just a few weeks ago as a matter of fact, i've anwered the door to find jehovah's witnesses standing there.
in my discussions with them, they've usually mentioned "manmade religions" and armegeddon.
having looked into their religion somewhat, and more so lately, i have to say that the entire movement seems to be manmade and, if not, i certainly don't know where, or how, god could have had a hand in it.. what is there in the way their church was formed that would make it formed, created or established by god?

I believe that JW are man made because they keep having to change the rules, and I do not beleive God would approve beating on children.
Sorry I have a simple mind.

Hi witchtowerwitch your story made me think about this scripture Jesus said: Mathew 23:1
1 Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples, saying: 2 “The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the seat of Moses. 3 Therefore all the things they tell YOU , do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds, for they say but do not perform. 4 They bind up heavy loads and put them upon the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger.
