Study made no sense, if you want to encourage to endure, use other biblical examples, Job, Moses etc, but the almighty ? come on, made even no sense to my pimi wife....
according to their won doctrine, 1000 years are one day for him, how is enduring even on the same level, despite so many other logical flaws....

Intelligent Disobedience
by George One Time indid you notice the expression "intelligent disobedience" in the febuary 2017 broadcast (at 7:30)?.
it was used with the illustration of a guide dog for blind persons, that sometimes has to disobey it's owner.. what a fine example for us!

interesting in this context were also the following videos, which left a little more room for personal decsions than the usual "I stop anything secular (job, entertainment, etc) and go full time service"
a new trend ? or just the normal up and down, between tighten up and loosening....

New light in this weeks WT?
by Indian Larry inanybody have any ideas where they are going with the "new light" they have been pushing last week and this week?
for instance in this weeks study article one section reads:.
in years gone by, we believed that jehovah became displeased with his people because they did not have a zealous share in the preaching work during world war i. we concluded that for this reason, jehovah allowed babylon the great to take them captive for a short time.

bibleexaminer - exactly my thought, what you said. In the same WT last sunday they even mentioned in parapraph 8 this:
" During the first world war, no effort was spared to keep providing spiritual food and encouragement to the scattered Bible Students"
What spiritual food ? the slave was not installed until 1919 ?

Faithful slave, new teaching
by inbetween inmost of us agree, that jw doctrine, even if you accept the bible as gods word, doenst add up.. just one detail:.
the new teaching about the fds is, that it was established, not in 1st century, but in 1914 (1919?
), and that jesus looked down on earth after his installment as king 1914 and choose the bible students as his organisation.. however, the new kingdom book mentioned in this weeks study, when russel and co startd to publish in newspapers from 1903 on, that jesus manouvered matters, in order to make it successful.. hm, he didnt even choose them yet as his people, but he already supported them ?.

huh ?
So when I choose a new car, and I didn't even decide or buy one yet, I just put new tires on some random car ? And then some time later I buy it, because it has new tires ?
Just a small detail but one of many contradictions and inconsistencies, you can spot them even on almost every piece of literatur they produce lately...

Even in my days of full indoctrination I watched all LOTR ( the first one even 3 times in the cinema, when it came out). Bought the dvds extended version. Up to this day, my wife and me watch it every winter again.
Bunch of brothers watched and loved it,
However, they more andmore kept it silent. I know several brothers today who watched it and keep it silent for fear or counseling.
Its soo stupid actually, especially when you realize how much paralelles to bible (and of course lots of other mythology) is in there, and good fights evil, something all witnesses believe in right ?

My letter to Bethel about the flood
by Cornbread ini've decided to go full public with a new username on this forum.
it's been almost a decade since i've been out and i don't care at this point who knows.
that being said, here's a letter that i'm mailing to bethel.

Why do they not throw out the litera flod story, and accept that it either was a local event or just a story? the lessons, to obey God and fear him still would be there.
They easily casted the idea of literal creation days, and they admit , that sun and stars falling down (revelation) is only an illustration.
So why not admit the same with the flood story?
IMHO here is the main reason:
The WTBS will never give up on a literal interpretation of the flood story,
it too much serves as a predecessor of their belief in big A, everyone will be wiped out except of those in the arc (modern times: those in the org)
Its an intergarl part of their gult and fear tactic to keep the sheep under control

TV.JW.ORG - October 2015: Neighborly love is more than just Field Service
by Designer Stubble inthe october 2015 jw broadcast, hosted by gerrit losch is quite positive actually.a lot of focus on "field service" needs to be balanced with other good works - supporting those in need around you - either in the congregation (witnesses) or in your classroom or neighbors (non-witnesses).
visiting and encouraging the sick and elderly is mentioned.
jesus parable of the merciful samaritan is highlighted.

I believe it, when they drop the personal field Service Report.

new arrangement - chairman
by inbetween ina thought on the emphasis of the importance of the new chairman arrangement at the midweek meeting:.
it reminds me of a tv-show, where the showmaster introduces tv-clips of some topics.. is it maybe a preparation for meetings with more and more videos ?.
and all the local brothers are doing is introducing them, creating anticipation for what big skydaddy prepared this week.. i wonder, if most of the meeting times in years to come will be videos anyway.....
