  Saturday drama, well was actually not soooo bad, but the program had some "valuable" lessons, how to deal with apostates. I recommend that for all of you...

  Prelude:

  Still being in, I had to attend the 3 day DC this year. Well, actually, it was not soooo bad. Some parts were quite interesting, like the explanation of the covenants, the illustrations and Jesus personality. Of course, here and there was the obvious spin of the WTS.

  Sunday afternoon finally came, and I thought by mayself, ok, only the drama, what can go wrong with a biblical drama...well, I was really naiv...here my short summary:

  Theme:

  It was about Joseph, being sold by his brothers to Egypt....actually, no matter if the story is real or a myth, it is a good story, and anyone can draw something valuable from it. There would not be really a need to alter it, or even to add a modern application

  Well, the WTS, writting committee or whoever writes the Dramas thought different.

  After the opnening scene, when Joesph was ridiculed by his brothers, a modern scene was played. A young brother was apparently just filling in an application for aux.pio. was mocked by other witnesses (obviuosly representing the mean brothers of Joseph). They even wanted to invite him to a premiere of a Vampire film (twilight bashing again...)

  (The message: If you do not consider aux.pio. or support others doing it, and to top it of, you go to Twilight movies, you are spiritully weak, almost opposers, enemies of Gods people, treacherous brothers....)

  Well, the young brother stood his ground. scene switches to old times again, Joseph being already in Egypt, and Potiphars wife tries to seduce him etc...

  Modern switch: At school the young brother was approached by an obvious bad girl. She did not succeed in seducing him, so she posted a slanderous story on her webpage about having sex with him on a particular evening.

  While with different scenes the old story with Joseph goes on, he being accused falsely, thrown into prison, being brought before Pharao etc..the modern application was always shown also, but then it became really weird, even shocking !!

  The young brother receiced the typical visit of two elders, because someone informed them about the story the girl posted on her webside. So far so good, but how they proceeded there, was so shocking, I think people around me could hear my jaw drop....

  The elders, instead of merely asking him, wether there is something true on this story, they went not one but many steps further. After he denied any contact with this girl, they asked him for an alibi on that particular evening, when the intercourse according to the story should have happened ! And after he told, were he was, they said, they will check it out and come back to him.....

  The elders acted like Police, not like loving sheperds, who are first and foremost supposed to know their flock and to believe their brothers !!!

  Well the story ends, after showing how Joseph became highly privileged in Egypt, being second after Pharao, as the counterpart, the young brother was invited to say the concluding prayer at a field service meeting....wtf ?????

  It really left an awful aftertaste, in my opinion, the worst drama I can remember at an assembly. Even last years speculating story of the 1st century Christians was better...

  Do you believe in an annointed class?

  regarless of their identity - in fact, if they are really "discreet" their identity should probably remain unknown - do you believe the bible speaks of a spirit annointed class of folks, a limited number of humans that have been called to heaven to serve with jesus?.

  how would would explain this:

  Revelation 5:9, world wide english:

  #9And the four living beings and the leaders sang a new song. The new song was: `You are able to take the book and to open its locks, because you were killed. You have set the people free and bought them for God with the cost of your blood. They are from every tribe, language, nation, and country.

  10 You have made them into kings and priests for our God. They will rule on the earth.'

  Does this scripture indicate at least two classes ? One class, made up of humans, who will rule, and others who will be subjects ?

  Interestingly, the NWT says, ruling over the earth, what does the Greek word really indicate ?

  A good comment at the KH about Abigail

  today's wt was interesting.

  the lesson spoke first about the role of husbands, and then wives.

  then it tied in some bible examples in which abigail was mentioned.

  anbody noticed the twist in Paragraph 3 ( I think) about 1. Timothy 5:8 ?

  It was not clearly stated, but it was insinuated, that a husbands providing for the family would include spiritual provisions. Most understood it that way and also comments were given, that material provsions are not enough.

  So the twist was, that a husband, who does not take lead in spiritual matters (eg family worship evening, field service, meetings etc) would also be worse than an unbeleiver.

  BUt this was not, what the scripture is about !! The context shows, it was only refeering to material provisions. Btw, I comented to make this clear, hoping somebody not half asleep got it.....

  How many will Jehovah KILL at armageddon?

  well that depends on the world population.. .

  if he had done it it 1914, he would only have killed 2 billion.. if he had done it in 1960, then he would have killed 3 billion.. if he had done it in 1975 ( so now we know why he didn't) he would only have had 4 billion to kill.. so is the question of when armaggedon will come, related to how many he wants to kill?.

  the chart does not depict the growth right, the distance between 1850 and 2000 (150 years) is almost equal to the distance from 1 to 1850. The curve should be much stepper...

  regarding the population at the flood, 3 billion ? How could he (and his family) preahc to all and besides that built the arch ?

  No wonder God killed them all, Noah did not have to to make return visits or conduct home bible studies....

  thanks for posting it, we have here not even the August 15th version.

  Then in paragraph 15: "Peter did not fully understand what Jesus said about eating His flesh and drinking His blood. But the apostle relied on God for spiritual enlightenment. When spiritual light on some matter gets brighter, do you try to understand the underlying Scriptural reasons for the adjustment? (Prov. 4:18) The first-century Beroeans received the word "with eagerness of mind, carefully examining the scriptures daily." (Acts 17:11)"

  Thats the very porblem here. By encouraging to study, they only want you to understand and consequently be able to explain to others, whatever teaching they present. Its like saying: Here is the result of our research, now try to find ways to come to the same result. If you come to another result, dump your line of reasoning, because it must be faulty. In this way you never be able to do real research or real thinking. Its rather twisting your mind until it fits to their ideas.

  Identifying who Jehovah is using

  the governing body seems to have ramped up the number of comments in the watchtower in recent years that they are chosen by god and must be trusted as such.

  how exactly has jehovah manifested that the gb are his representatives and must be followed.

  tell me if i am missing something, but it seems in the bible, god provided dramatic signs to prove who his representatives were, yet these days there seems to be none.. .

  JW would answer:

  1) They are the only ones, fulfilling Matth 24:14, preaching the good news of the kingdom all over the world. Thats why, they are so obsessed with numbers regarding field service.

  2) The love among themselves. Main point: No witness goes to war to kill anybody else or another witness.

  3) spiritual food, just look at the wonderful magazins, books conventions etc...How can someone not see, that this is really the slave of Matth 24:45-47 ?

  sorry about that, even though I did not agree with most of your statemants, I feel sometimes the need for apologists, otherwise things may get too onesided. Only by arguments and counterarguments, the truth can slowly appear between the opposing positions.

  Maze, one thing though. Even if someone agrees with most main doctrines of JW, he must see, there is something seriously wrong in the Org. Otherwise he would just blind his eyes and ignore the obvious.

  i have a part this week about the june awake & watchtower.

  after reading some of the paragraphs in the watchtower, i have this opinion to share:.

  i really wish the wt would stop trying to teach witnesses about their biased views of history and economic theory.

  its for my own good , b ut also others soemtimes appreciate it, most though; I´m sure, dont know a differece, they sleep metally anyway...
