I love cars and have been really active with them most of my life. I currently have a 89 Alfa Romeo Milano, a 4 motion passat wagon and a 89 bmw 325is that I'm building into a race car for the chump car world series. When i sell the Alfa in a few years I plan on a getting a porsche 930 turbo. Once the wife sells her bike I'll build her a 914. Every car I own I have to do something to it. If I knew how to post pics I would throw some of my Alfa up.

The desperation of JWs hoping the end comes "soon"
by sir82 ini'm starting to sense a certain desperation among jws, that they feel that the great tribulation must start soon.
i think this is due, in many cases, to their own personal situation, financial or otherwise.. if the gt doesn't come soon, and these guys really start to suffer - what then?
the watchtower's promises that "jehovah would not forsake them if they put kingdom interests first" by skipping or dropping out of college, turning down promotions, "simplifying" their lives by selling their homes and moving to the hinterlands...will all prove to be meaningless.. if the gt doesn't come soon, and "jehovah" doesn't bail them out...then what?.

My inlaws are in this situation in their sixties broke and no savings about to lose their house. Its really sad but it is a choice that they made. Now they are expecting their kids and son inlaws to bail them out.

My wife is from middle of nowhere iron range MN. I know skiing was fine but that was in the mid 90's when she was a teenager. It prolly had something to do with the counterculture aspects of it. I know she brought an elder with to make them change their mind.

When my wife was a teenager she was not allowed to go snowboarding. The elders had some talks with her and her sister about that.

How does her therapist suggest she deal with the feeling of guilt and fear so far?
First it was with some anti-anxiety medicine but now its just realizing that somethings are beyond anythings control and that eventually you will have to face up to it and you will not know how it will react. My family has helped with alot of positive reinforcement. Being surround by people that care about you and let you know that they do does great things for self esteem. For the most part now she feels really good about herself and what she is doing, its just going through the motions now with her family. Everyone deals with stress in different ways.

Thanks! Im sure she will join in time. She has it kind of lucky where her parents live 4 hours away. Part of the whole reason we met was that she moved down to the cities to get away from them and JWs. So now she hopes can can fade out but her parents and sister still give her hell about it. There is the big convention this weekend and they are trying to convince her to go.

My wife who is a recovering witness has been working through these issues the most. Its helped her so much that she has seen a therapist that has been helping her work through these issues. She does great but once and a while she gets worked up when her parents give her the guilt trips.
