there comes a time when you just gotta be you. As you so eloquently put it "Ah well".

Breaking News from Steve Unthank - Police Launch Investigation into Traralgon Congregation
by Broken Promises inaustralia, breaking news: police launch investigation into the rape and molestation of a number of children with the traralgon congregation of jehovah's witnesses.
jw news can report that victoria police have launched an investigation into the rape and molestation of a number of children within the traralgon congregation of jehovah's witnesses over the past two years.
according to initial reports,... the body of elders were strictly ordered by the watchtower bible and tract society of australia to cover-up the multiple rapes of a number of children within the traralgon congregation allegedly committed by a fellow member of the jehovah's witness religion.

I was thinking about Flippers dream where he dreamt that he and the Mrs. walked into a convention. He reflected when he woke up about how a complete stranger including child molesters could walk in and befriend parents to get to the children. Flip said there are no check systems in place.
So then I remembered how during the announcements they remind the flock to not leave valuables because of the unsuspecting bad element that could wander in. What about our most valuable children? No, it's all about the money. They don't care about the children.

If you want to change your speaking style, say for instance you're a woman that sounds like a little girl, or maybe you want to change your accent or other problems, there is a book called Talk To Win. I found it very interesting.

Embarrassed As A Witness
by EmptyInside ineven as a witness,i was uncomfortable talking about everything we believed.
i remember working with my brother out and service and he found an interested person.
my brother was sharing information out of the bible teach book.

I used to wonder why I couldn't "incidental witness". I can remember situations where I felt I should "witness"...Why couldn't I? I figured I was weak, inept and unworthy. I think I commented at the meetings about 10 times in my 30 years of being in it. Always wondered WHY I couldn't comment. I must be worthless...what is wrong with me? If only I knew those two words Cognitive Dissonance, then I would have known why.

Any of you folks from the awesome state of Colorado??
by SweetBabyCheezits inmy wife and i are thinking of moving our family to a better place in the us....away from jw family and out of the southern bible belt.
just curious how many of you live around co and, more specifically, near fort collins?
of course, we're open to any city that is less conservative and has awesome summer weather and outdoor activities.

WhereWasI
Lived there for about 6 months after leaving the Motown (Detroit) we thought Colorado High ala John Denver. h-m not so much. Every time we went camping in the mountains....it was rainy. Went away thinking Mountains=Rain. Well we moved on to the Pacific Northwest. Still it rains. I did like Bolder though. And I remember Estes Park and liked it. Seriously though you just have to try it, you never know what you might like. Of course having a job wherever you go is most important.

Ex-JW Vicci Martinez on TV Show "The Voice"
by Justitia Themis inthis young woman has an excellent voice.
she and i were in the same congregation.
her family came to my youngest daughter's high school graduation party, and vicci (vickie) sang there.

Hi Justitia, I was thinking... I wonder if her Dad had doubts about the JW's for a long while because he always supported Vicci and her musical ambitions. Who does that in the way of JW thinking and if your really on board with it? Along with his progressive thinking and protection of his family...remember how he had such a cool and understated manner? He could get away with saying things that would give the more pious JW's reason to wince but he was so respected that no one would take offense.
Another reason I wonder if he had doubts for quite awhile before his illness and subsequent death is the fact that he gave Vicci his blessing to go after her goals, I can't remember how Vicci worded it in her introduction but it seems like her Dad definetley accepted her in every way.
Anyway, I know we are both so proud of her and her accomplishments in spite of the JW indoctrination.
BTW, weekly Margaritas? Why wasn't I invited? Oh yeah, Ldrnomo was an elder and I was his sidekick.

Did you watch R rated movies when you were in it?
by ldrnomo inlast night, i watched an r rated movie that featured violence.
at least 30 people were shot in the first 45 min of the movie.. while i was in and an elder, i watched r rated movies all the time just didn't talk about it.
so how many of you watched r rated movies even though "mother" said not to?.

I remember out in service one day I somehow mentioned the movie "Rainman". I thought I was contributing to the conversation. One sister said: RAINMAN! that's rated "R". At the time I couldn't figure out why. I later realized they said the F word ONCE. That was the only reason it was rated "R".

by WhatWasIThinking inthe last meeting i attended was the memorial last year.

WWIT: I so pick up your vibe. My sentiments exactly. Before I joined the cult some 30 plus years ago. I was an ex Catholic, newly married, newly moved to another state with husband and child and not happy about a lot of things. Knock, knock...JW's showed up. I've been able to miss 3 memorials now. Wonderful to be out. When I chose my name for this forum I gave some thought to my life when I was young, puzzled about life and trying to set my course. Now I try to capture my state of mind at that time and pick up from there. That's why I say...

Best of everything for you. The cult tries to catch us when we're off guard when we aren't thinking or too young or whatever. It's not our fault.

I saw a video once where she was being interviewed. Her Avatar and posts here are great but doesn't convey her personality fully. I would link it if I could.
