Live Action Role-Playing coming to a Family Worship Night near you!
by Mr. Falcon inlately, i have seen demonstrations and interviews on stage of guys who are bragging about how they incorporate dressing up in costume and reinacting bible accounts for their family worship night.. .
family worship evening: serious business.
this kind of bafoonary and other assorted silliness is encouraged to make family worship "fun and enjoyable".

For those that are and have been married, did the JW lifestyle aggravate "typical" marital and family problems?
by miseryloveselders ini ask this in consideration of last week's and this week's congregation bible study which focuses on the responsibilities of christian parents, and husbands.
i also ask this in harmony with itscrap&theyknowit's thread which is a heluva opening post by the way.
i linked it below for those that aren't familiar with it.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/206133/1/why-i-eventually-left.

I think a big part of the problem is the young age of people getting married. In the congo that I grew up in, quite a few guys in their 20's ended up marrying women that had just graduated high school. These women never lived on their own, never learned to manage a household or money, and were just not mature. Several of these guys told me privately that while they loved their wives, they wished that they had waited a few years to marry them.
Of course, that alone would cause stress in a marriage, but then add in trying to look like the "perfect couple" and doing all the things Witnesses are supposed to, how can problems not be magnified?

Share Your Tales of Annoying Car Group Advice
by DarioKehl inohhhh.... do i ever have loads of these stories!
i pioneered in the mid-90's (mostly out of guilt and fear and hope to pacify my parents before dropping the "i wanna go to college" bombshell on them, but i digress...) and i gotta tell ya, it was the most frustrating 2 years of my life!
at that time, there were over 20 of us as many my age recently graduated high school to "join the ranks" (as the co at the time said).

A friend of mine was telling me about how when her daughter was little, she came back from service with the pioneers and never wanted to go out in service again. She said that all they did was "talk mean" about others in the congo.

CO's putting the screws on elder bodies, and ministerial servants to auxilliary pioneer this April.
by miseryloveselders ini have such a love/hate, 50/50 relationship with this organization any more, but a letter was read to the elders and ministerial servants that has pushed me to the 30/70 range in favor of hate, if even momentarily.
most of you if not all are aware of the auxilliary pioneering initiative for this upcoming april.
it's no secret that i'm not real fond of pioneering as its unscriptural for one thing.

Hmmm, how long until they try to push this a couple of times a year? Or every month of the year?
Hey, if you can manage it in April, why not every month?

What's a really good movie you'd recommend that most people probably haven't seen?
by A.Fenderson inwhat's a really good movie you'd recommend that most people probably haven't seen?.
my personal recommendation: synecdoche, new york.
it's one of those movies that words fail utterly to capture--which really is the hallmark of a good movie, i suppose.

Memento- A guy with anterograde amnesia hunts down his wife's murderer. Make sure you're not distracted when watching!
Pi- A mathematician searching to decode patterns to the stock market.
Amelie- a quirky French movie about a waitress performing good deeds for others.

so oompa got df'd this week...
by oompa inno call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

I would threaten those assholes right back. Call them up, say that you're repealing their decision and if they refuse, you are going to write letters to every major newspaper in the state, telling about the way they treated you.
After a major accident, where you spent weeks in the hospital and months recooperating, the leaders of your church, instead of holding fundraisers or benefits like most churches would, decide to kick you out for medical treatment that you recieved while unconscience. As a result, your friends and family are shunning you. Sounds like a great human interest story to me!

The Story of Mr. & Mrs. Flipper
by flipper init was requested of someone on the board via pm to tell our story.
i'll try to keep it brief, for me that's hard.
mrs. flipper was raised catholic and got out when she was 12 because the nuns and cathlolic school teachers didn't like her independent thinking mind.

I enjoyed reading your story. I had pieced together most of it from other threads, but reading it in one go was great!
I also married a non-Witness and he's an amazing guy. Cheers to our spouses!

A couple of things came to my mind. First, she lives on a lot that is worth a lot of money and the owners are old. Perhaps the neighbors are attempting to make the place hard to rent so that they can buy it cheap. As was pointed out earlier, picking locks or copying keys is not that hard to do.
Second, she's a single mom. Does she have an ex that she doesn't get along with, or that wants custody? Maybe there's a stepmom that is pissed about how much is paid in child support. It would be easy to make a copy of the key when the kids were over for visitation.
In her situation, I would set up some motion activated cameras. Have the doors and stairways covered. Change the locks again and replace the deadbolts. And do not tell anyone! No mention of the cameras to the kids. Change the kids keys when they're sleeping.
