  why, he even has gone to some meetings at their kingdom hall!

  someone calls with a large wedding tent that they would like to donate and set up in the kingdom hall parking lot for the public memorial on friday.

  i was amazed how people who came that didnt even know whitney, but simply felt a need to be here and comfort the family.

  What I meant as "bs":

  The Chief of Police has said that it is obvious that “God is with you people”, and the stories of how the evidence was so quickly found by the Brothers and Sisters and all came together so quickly, there is little doubt as to who was helping!

  The chief of police said that the next time someone goes missing in Portland, he is going to call on Jehovah’s Witnesses.

  I'm pretty sure that the local Witnesses have embellished the comments made by other members of the community. Just as Holt was downgraded from a member of the congregation to a neighbor and occasional attendee.

  Two cartons of Bibles and a carton of Teach books had been placed.

  Probably were shoved into people's hands and they were too polite to say "no" at the funeral.

  While it's pretty obvious that some of the comments from "worldly" people are bs, I am glad that the congregation came together to support the family. I just wish they would stop turning it into an opportunity to preach and allow the family to grieve.

  I'm a big Stephen King fan. One book of his, Under the Dome, I could not finish. Not because it was bad; it was pretty good. I couldn't finish it because I could absolutely see Witnesses acting the same way after the Big A- getting all Lord of the Flies on those who bucked the system.

  what are the JW rules once baptised??

  on my other post 'thinking of becoming a jw' people mentioned that once i was baptised i would be told / given rules of what i can / cant do, things like: how i act, dress, how i can have sex with my husband??

  what i can and cant eat ( according to some research ive done).

  i would be really interested to hear as many of these rules now - as i think its too late after one is baptised.. i would be grateful of as many as possible about anything any topic even thouse i havent mentioned.. thanks x.

  Rules can also vary according to congregation. There's a congregation near mine that does not allow women to wear red dresses. Why? Because the harlot in the Revelation book wears a red dress! However, it's okay to wear a red dress in other congregations.

  i am at such a loss for words, i have stared at this screen for about an hour not knowing how to address this.

  i feel for the family of this young woman and any way you slice it, closure or no closure, it is the same.

  i will however say that the said missing person had just went through a disfellowshipping and divorce, and there was a dispute over property.

  What Made You Question "The Truth"?

  in the the early 1970's, i used to enjoy going to assemblies, conventions and hear special talks given by bethel heavies.. in those days, we were believers and we applied ourselves as "ministers" with pride.. once the "end" was obviously not within our "generation", many of us started losing interest.. we started to think more critically.

  it took a long time but once you start recognizing the bullsh*t, it's hard to stay in and truly believe at the same time.. .

  For me, reading John 13:35- that Jesus's followers would show love for each other. I looked around the Kingdom Hall, at the gossip, the grudges, the backstabbing, all the subtle meaness and pettiness, and I knew that it wasn't "the Truth".

  the cafeteria had lobster bisque and wedding soup today, and i figured i'd try something new considering i love seafood.

  it was tasty, don't get me wrong, but there was nothing in it.

  what's the point of eating something if it's similar to drinking tea?
