Wonderment:
I tend to react depending on the audience. Don't we all do that at times?
No. And I am still of the same mind.
though i have never been a pentecostal, i remember well the frequent stories i heard of this religious movement while going from house-to-house in the past.
i wonder if you guys heard similar stories.
one story i heard a few times was about the confession of some males going to pentecostal churches to peek at girls throwing themselves all over the floor in epileptic movements, and some mention the word "panties" being exposed as an attraction to them.

Wonderment, you said:
those who think that I think the Watchtower folks are much better than Pentecostals or other
I am that guy. I don't get angry if you single me out. By the way, I still think you feel the Watchtower is better.
the JW's do not write any books focusing on just one group, they usually attack the Catholics and Protestants in blanket fashion. And the tone of language is more subtle, "smoothed out"
I disagree with "smoothed out". What about calling the Catholic Church "the Harlot"? There is nothing "smooth" in the language used by the Watchtower against other religions.
Would you open your door and take magazines from people you don't know?

Wonderment wants people to think the Watchtower isn't that bad. "There is worse than the Watchtower". As if that meant the Watchtower is good.
Some days ago he was asking what religious group was the most intolerant.

i have to hand it to the society.
they understand the power of organization.
they demonstrate that no matter how ridiculous your message and how much the facts don't support your position you can still accomplish a lot if you are organized.
Whatever the size of the "dent", the dent exists. I know it from personal experience. I didn't join because of websites like this. So, I do not think it is a good idea to leave people to their own devices and not sharie the information and insights others have accumulated.

I think this is yet another example of how fanaticism is just plain bad.
By the way, is Wonderment suggesting that the reason why Pentecostals grow so much is that men can get to look at the panties of sisters in their fits of epilepsy? Or just looking at epileptics? If so, then Pentecostalism is a magnet for epileptic sisters.
One can but wonder why Playboy hasn't become a world cult. I am quite sure the sisters on those pages are not epileptics (but very healthy). Perhaps the reason is, you don't get to see many panties.

When I invited them to the Kingdom Hall, they said our meetings were too mild, nothing "provocative" to entice them to our meetings. No wonder they attract many converts. I guess Christ was not their main motive.
dear sir,.
a complaint has been registered against you with the federal authorities in the usa.. the complaints center on slander and character assassination emanating from members posting on your jehovah's witnesses network forum, and online stalking.
all details have now gone to the fbi on federal plaza in new york for their immediate attention.. ([email protected]).
Oh, but this one was filed by someone who is "Alive in Russia" and chose to open a Yahoo account in the German service (.de). At least three countries are involved!
i was reading "the heathens guide to world religions" (http://www.amazon.com/heathens-guide-world-religions-secular/dp/097315084x/ref=sr_1_1?ie=utf8&s=books&qid=1309714972&sr=8-1) and found an interesting thing.. i am sure all of you know that the israelites supposedly had to wander in the desert for 40 years, because of their "wickedness" that resulted in jehovah's angry decision that "none of them would enter the promised land".
this is the text, from deuteronomy 1, 36-40:.
34 all the while jehovah heard the voice of your words.
The Watchtower could argue that the time of one "generation" is longer than 40 years, since Joshua, Caleb and the rest of the "evil generation" were already adults and had children, and all that Jehovah did was waiting for them to die. They cannot, however, claim that people live "longer" these days, or else they have to explain Methuselah. But what is clear is that "a generation" does not encompass those living now, until the very oldest one of them dies, and the youngest alive when the last of the old dies.
just wondering.
is this "the theocratic look" or something?.

I am sure all of you know that the Israelites supposedly had to wander in the desert for 40 years, because of their "wickedness" that resulted in Jehovah's angry decision that "none of them would enter the Promised Land". This is the text, from Deuteronomy 1, 36-40:
34 “All the while Jehovah heard the voice of YOUR words. So he became indignant and swore, saying, 35 ‘Not one among these men of this evil generation will see the good land that I swore to give to YOUR fathers, 36 except Ca'leb the son of Je·phun'neh. He will see it, and to him and to his sons I shall give the land upon which he trod, by reason of the fact that he has followed Jehovah fully. 37 (Even against me Jehovah got incensed on YOUR account, saying, ‘You too will not go in there. 38 Joshua the son of Nun, who is standing before you, is the one who will go in there.’ Him he has made strong, because he will cause Israel to inherit it.) 39 As for YOUR little ones of whom YOU said: “Plunder they will become!” and YOUR sons who today do not know good or bad, these will go in there, and to them I shall give it, and they will take possession of it. 40 As for YOU yourselves, change your direction and pull away for the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.’
It is clear that Jehovah acted in the understanding that the time of one generation would conclude within the lifetime of two men who were at least old enough to go to war and be military leaders at the time, namely Joshua and Caleb.
The Israelites wandered in the desert for forty years.
Deuteronomy 2, verses 7-8:
He well knows of your walking through this great wilderness. These forty years Jehovah your God has been with you. You have not lacked a thing.”’ 8
So, how come these days Jehovah thinks that a generation lasts a lot longer than 40 years?
Also, as to overlapping generations, how come the contemporaries of Joshua and Caleb formed "one generation", but their children who were alive at the time were not?
39 As for YOUR little ones of whom YOU said: “Plunder they will become!” and YOUR sons who today do not know good or bad, these will go in there, and to them I shall give it, and they will take possession of it.
It is also interesting that the generation was measured considering the children "who today do not know good or bad".
It only follows that Joshua and Caleb were not part of the same "generation" as their parents, either. If their children "who today do not know good or bad" were not part of Joshua and Caleb's generation, how could Joshua, Caleb and their contemporaries be part of the same generation as their parents?
