  i have a daughter who is nearly 16 months old, and it won't be long before she starts understanding more and more of the rubbish at the khs my wife takes her to.

  she will be very exposed to a lot of creationist junk and i can just imagine her getting brainwashed just as i was a born-in.

  luckily i am in a position to reduce that or perhaps counter it completely.

  Ah, if I 'opposed' the 'truth' and stopped my wife taking my daughter to the KH, it would, without doubt, end my marriage as I know it.

  Hi all, I have a daughter who is nearly 16 months old, and it won't be long before she starts understanding more and more of the rubbish at the KHs my wife takes her to. Luckily I am in a position to reduce that or perhaps counter it completely. I've never had to to it before, and I learned all I know about evolution and my personal stand as an atheist in adult-terms. How can I teach that religion is a bad thing? That there is no God? That the God of JWs is barbaric? The beauty of evolution? My wife can be at the park and point out a tree and do the whole 'God made that!' Thing. What can I do? Can you give me some examples of what I could say? Thanks in advance. GM

  i was doing some light reading today and saw the word "abstain" within a dictionary.

  this was the definition of the word abstain;.

  I don't know why you were doing some light reading in the Dictionary, lol, but I can tell you the Zebra did it!

  The Greek word used in the NWT I am told is ΑΠΟΧΗ αποχη and being as Greek is my second language and I use it every day can say I've heard the word used at "Apokries", which is kind of like a Greek halloween I guess, but isn't Halloween. I have heard it said "αποχη απο κρεασ" which is like saying "goodbye to meat" (as some fast). I don't think it's right to say it means "refrain" but its more in line with the greek word επιλογη which means "choice".

Including those hiding or fading, technically how many JWs are there really? On a similar note, a friend of mine put a report in for 98 hours. He didn't do 1. Just how accurate are the reports? Aren't the reports supposed to be confidential, because the smelder who does the reports told my friends mother in law and possibly others what he had reported.

  These are great, keep them coming! I remembered this Indian guy who couldt say 'r' for the life of him but said 'w'. Wank and file... Another guy used to speak so quickly he messed up and instead of saying 'tested qualities of faith' he said 'testicles of faith.' I was crying with laughter and only one or two others even noticed. He was an idiot. Still is. He moved to the USA so all you who live over the pond, look out for an Angelos Christoforou and his bimbo wife Valerie!

  Hi all, I was thinking about some stupid non-sensical answers I have heard over the years. "We all know the Blue Whale is the biggest fish" "We were on the ministry and met a coloured couple. We knew they were coloured because they were black." So what's the funniest comment you've heard? Doesn't have to be even about a certain belief as much as just someone being stupid yet all those around just nodding in agreement. I also remember one old slighly demented woman always answering in paragraph 18 of the WT who would always say the same thing that she saw Jesus and she was in love with him. Funny, the brother who did the WT would let her answer EVERY time.

  Jeff, I know we don't know each other pretty much at all, but I wanted to say my thoughts are with you. My brother was recently sentenced to 2 years which affected me greatly. I can only imagine a daughter would feel worse. My wife and I have a 15 month old daughter and she is the best thing in my life, I adore her. I can't imagine what you went through. All the best
