I have seen the foreign language fad first hand, as I was in a spanish congregation and folks from the english were constantly migrating to help out. I also know plenty of witnesses who went to D.R. to "help", staying there months at a time. It's become the witness non-missionary destination.

What makes an apostate...
by IronHill inan apostate for witnesses?.
i only ask because we have had several conversations with family members who want to make sure we have not become "apostates".
a rumor has been going around that we have become, sign carrying, picketing kh's attending, leaflet printing apostates.

an apostate for witnesses?
I only ask because we have had several conversations with family members who want to make sure we have not become "apostates". A rumor has been going around that we have become, sign carrying, picketing kh's attending, leaflet printing apostates. We have explained to our family members that we are living our lives now our way, but we are not speaking out on the organization. They were all ok with that.
We were under the impression that if you disassociate yourself and practice pagan beliefs (for them, like holidays and such) that in their book of rules we are apostates. Apparently that's not what our family thinks?
So what makes an apostate an apostate for the witnesses??

Best Use for Jehovah's Word
by chipote ini was wondering what the best use people ever had for "jehovah's word".
for me, "jehovah's word" aided me tremendously in my gardening efforts.
i had to borrow some books from my mom to get the full use of all this spiritual information but my new strawberry plants will enjoy all this material.

I packed all of the books in boxes and dumped in dumpsters!
Hey that has sort of a jingle!

Thanks!
LoriJis is weathering as best she can, with my help of course. She has her own reasons for writing the letter, but is happy overall with our decision.

No there has been no contact, because we expressed in the letter that we didnt want to call or visit.
The reason we wrote a letter is we wanted to end the relationship on our terms, and not by having them judge us with their rules.

I don't plan to abide by their rules, they no longer have any control over my life.

Brother, Sister
by B_Deserter inthe witnesses refer to each other as "brother" or "sister.
" this is supposedly because they are a "spiritual family" and this is supposed to encourage that feeling.. but how often did you refer to your biological brothers and sisters by their title?
when i was playing in the yard with my little brother i wasn't yelling "catch the ball, brother _______!
-
IronHill
LOL! Very true...one of my many questions through the years!
I think it's a way of assigning titles...it gives new ones something to aspire to!

In all seriousness, it seems like any other Friday, but inside I feel like this is a big step! It's the beginning of the rest of our lives....The sky is the limit! Our family will avoid us now (they have already begun that), and we lose all of our contacts with witness friends. But that won't kill us...it will only help us grow.
Tonight we'll be going out and toasting to our new found freedom!
Thanks for the support and for listening to my nonsense...
Anyone else feel this way when they were disfellowshipped/disassociated?
