AGuest...I suppose everyone looks for God in their own way for me it was a search that began with the Bible itself. At first that may seem like an odd statement, what I looked at was not the story of the Bible but what exactly IS the Bible. Who wrote it, where did it come from and how has it arrived to us in its form today. It was that search that lead me to believe the Bible is not the word of God but the word of man. So if by search for God from what is suppose to be his word and I did not find his word I did not find God...

For me it was a matter of why I "believed" what was the need, where did it come from. In my case I was born to a Christian family, became a JW at age 21 and for the next 28 years...When it was my time to leave JWdome a little something inside me said, "search for God elswere" and I did but did not find him...Now having said that we live in a world of believers, everyone has their reasons or back ground, to me it is a matter of acceptance not just of believers but of that I never accepted before, you know what I mean "JW's right, everyone else wrong" attitude. I guess it's a matter of finding a balance not just of faith or lack of but of all things...

Burning literature (pics) and police called on Snakes :P
by SnakesInTheTower inso for some time i have been threatening to burn my remaining watchtower literature.
i had gotten rid of two bookcases worth via a thread or two here, mailing it to various jwders for (hopefully) nefarious purposes.
i was down to one last 32 gallon rubbermaid container.

"Do you think Jehovah or Jesus would protect the Bible using copyright laws? Still the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures that is included on the Watchtower Library is under copyright. Jehovah’s Witnesses have copyrighted the Bible. While the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society have not written the Bible, how can they copyright it? Would any Christian believe that God or Jesus will approve of someone that tries to hinder others to read God’s word?"
This is priceless...they show up at your door trying to get you to read their ACCURATE translation of the Bible and you can not even post quotes from the New World Translation of the Bible...

"A
Timeto
Speak"—When?
MARY works as a medical assistant at a hospital. One requirement she has to abide by in her work is confidentiality. She must keep documents and information pertaining to her work from going to unauthorized persons. Law codes in her state also regulate the disclosure of confidential information on patients.
One day Mary faced a dilemma. In processing medical records, she came upon information indicating that a patient, a fellow Christian, had submitted to an abortion. Did she have a Scriptural responsibility to expose this information to elders in the congregation, even though it might lead to her losing her job, to her being sued, or to her employer’s having legal problems? Or would Proverbs 11:13 justify keeping the matter concealed? This reads: "The one walking about as a slanderer is uncovering confidential talk, but the one faithful in spirit is covering over a matter."—Compare Proverbs 25:9, 10.
Situations like this are faced by Jehovah’s Witnesses from time to time. Like Mary, they become acutely aware of what King Solomon observed: "For everything there is an appointed time, even a time for every affair under the heavens: . . . a time to keep quiet and a time to speak." (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 7) Was this the time for Mary to keep quiet, or was it the time to speak about what she had learned?
. Hence, there may be times when a Christian is obligated to bring a matter to the attention of the elders. True, it is illegal in many countries to disclose to unauthorized ones what is found in private records. But if a Christian feels, after prayerful consideration, that he is facing a situation where the law of God required him to report what he knew despite the demands of lesser authorities, then that is a responsibility he accepts before Jehovah. There are times when a Christian "must obey God as ruler rather than men."
Mary was somewhat apprehensive about the legal aspects but felt that in this situation Bible principles should carry more weight than the requirement that she protect the privacy of the medical records. Surely the sister would not want to become resentful and try to retaliate by making trouble for her, she reasoned. So when Mary analyzed all the facts available to her, she decided conscientiously that this was a time to "speak," not to "keep quiet."
There may be occasions when a faithful servant of God is motivated by his personal convictions, based on his knowledge of God’s Word, to strain or even breach the requirements of confidentiality because of the superior demands of divine law. Courage and discretion would be needed.

When I first began having doubts I would never think of visiting apostate sites for information come to find out I didn't need to. I began researching the WTS from their own literature going back to Charles Taze Russell...And then I found this gem:
Zions Watchtower February 1881 page 3:
If we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another and that which was light one or two or six years ago would be regarded as darkness now: But with God there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and so it is with truth;any knowledge or light coming from God must be like its author. A new view of truth never can contradict a former truth. "New light" never extinguishes older "light," but adds to it. If you were lighting up a building containing seven gas jets you would not extinguish one every time you lighted another, but would add one light to another and they would be in harmony and thus give increase of light: So is it with the light of truth; the true increase is by adding to, not by substituting one for another.

In 28 years one visit an elder and ms. I sat on the couch in my living room while the elder gave me a mini public talk about donating money to the society and hall. I sat there stunned thinking I hear this crap all the time at the hall. There was absolutely nothing personal about the visit just a way for the 2 of them to count time...

The Boring Life Of A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inwhen you think back at how boring being a witness was, it's amazing that we lasted as long as we did.. i hear jws get sooo excited when they leave a tract with a person!
a stupid little tract!
or if a witness was asked to come into the same car that the circuit overseer was in, it would be considered such a "privilege".
