Name-calling is an important tool of propagandists; it slaps an easy-to-remember label upon one's opponents. How wise we are to avoid apostate propaganda!

when paul warned of experiencing shipwreck, he had in mind some who had thrust aside their good conscience and had lost their faith.
(1 timothy 1:19) among them were hymenaeus and alexander who fell into apostasy, deviating from the truth and speaking abusively.

These men were teaching that the resurrection had already occurred. Doesn't the Society teach that the resurrection has already begun?
The names that the "slave" class uses to speak about "apostates"--thieves, wolves, 'mentally diseased'--these aren't abusive terms? They are terms used in scripture, but not necessarily in the same way as the Bible verses that mention them.
Also, the notion that anyone critical of the 'slave' is biting the hand that fed them seems to imply that all spiritual food resides with the Watchtower Society. The Bible does not mention that any group of men is the source of spiritual food, but rather, "every utterance from Jehovah's mouth" is. (Matt. 4:4) The Bible is the Word of God, not any other set of publications. Either way, this seems a prideful position, as "what do you have that you did not receive? If you did receive it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?" (1 Cor. 4:7)
Unable to make time calculations concerning the fulfillment of certain prophecies,
So, who put time calculations in the core of their message to begin with? Jesus certainly did not. He specifically told his followers that it did not belong to them to get knowledge of the times and seasons the Father put in his own jurisdiction. (Acts 1:7) So who did? In the first century, there were individuals pretending to be apostles who wrote letters as if "the day of Jehovah" was here. Paul set them straight. (2 Thess. 2:1-3) Who today has repeatedly told their followers "the day of Jehovah is here", yet it failed to come to pass? The "evil slave" believes his master is delaying apparently because he expected his master to arrive at a specific time. He seems overly interested in time prophecies. Who has repeatedly presented false information about time prophecies for the last 130 years?
Seems to me that the spiritual shipwreck they refer to is their own.

i read some great comments on jwd about the illustration in last sunday's watchtower.. does somebody know how this technique is called?
i mean, publish a normal illustration, make a comment that there is something different to see,.
people think "there has to be something special on that picture, so the brother with the purple tie could be not humble or bla bla bla".. or the brother with the big eyebrows is not normal, he is oversexed because he has to much hair in his face.. in some asian communist country's people with glasses had to go to jail or would be killed because it showed they could read!.

should christians drink water?.
how refreshing it can be to satisfy oneself with a cold beverage on a warm day!
many christians choose to do this after a long day of zealous kingdom preaching.
SD, I guarantee they either hate you or love you in the Writing Department.
LOL. Perhaps so. If I get an anonymous call from Bethel offering me a job, I'll know they've been paying attention...

Dear Listener:
We are overjoyed to hear of your decision to seek baptism. The beginning of your relationship with Jehovah will no doubt find you energized to pursue the ministry with zeal and build up your fellow brothers.
Jesus himself provides the example of proper use of water. At John 13:3-10, Jesus humbly washes the feet of his disciples on the night before he was to be impaled. He spoke approvingly of proper and regular bathing. Hence, we have scriptural evidence in support of the use of water for bathing and cleansing purposes.
Again, Jesus shows us a fine example in presenting himself for water baptism. At Matthew 3:13-17, Jesus goes into the water to be baptized by John the Baptizer. However, rather than lingering in the water for the sake of drinking it, Jesus came up out of the water. As he did not drink it, holy spirit in the form of a dove, along with Jehovah's voice from heaven, confirmed his approved spiritual state.
Hence, we can see no potential conflict with Bible principles in your decision to be baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. We send you our warmest love and heartfelt prayers for a "future and a hope." (Jer. 29:11)

Dear EndofMysteries:
We appreciate your concern. Regarding your personal decision to move to a different area, a simple scriptural principle can be applied. At 1 Corinthians 5:9, 10, the apostle Paul wrote to "quit mixing in company" with unrepentant sinners. However, he recognized the limitations of this instruction. Living in this wicked world, we are exposed to a variety of unhealthy influences as we work, attend school, shop, or care for our other necessary business. Since we cannot simply leave this world, we must for a time put up with its unwholesome "spirit of the air". (Eph. 2:1, 2) Could an extremely humid climate potentially damage one's relationship with Jehovah? No more than going about one's necessary activities in any other facet of life.
We trust you will be encouraged by this Bible counsel and make a personal decision in harmony with divine principles.

Dear charlie brown, jr.:
When water is separated into hydrogen and oxygen, its fractions then become acceptable and up to the individual Christian to decide. As carbonated water introduces a further element, careful thought must be given. How much actual water was used in creating this product? The safe course in this case would be to avoid products that are known to contain water. Your local body of elders can no doubt provide more personal attention and counsel on this matter.
Your Brother,

cc: charlie brown, jr's body of elders
Oh, and I suspect somebody might've seen me dating a non-JW shortly after my awakening, and reported me, because the elders suddenly wanted to meet with me but wouldn't tell me why, and when I told the COBOE I was getting married, he asked with contempt, "Is she in the truth?" So I guess they might've known about that other situation. Hmm.

Yes. My wife turned us both in for fornication and me for having doubts about 'the organization'. See, like, all my personal posts from almost two years ago...I dare not repost them here, whiny bastard that I was back then...

inspired by many on jwn board, my goal is to every sunday study the article and find the manipulative parts.
if you would like to join me that would be great!
we can then find them together and then find what the scriptures or insights truly means with research, our own understanding, or maybe how it should be interpreted to ones self.
Also, just because Abraham lived in tents didn't mean the man wasn't loaded! Imagine if you had 300+ servants and a buttload of livestock! He was pretty rich, by any standard.
AGuest--you've got a point, there. Nothing in this article mentioned Jesus as being the only way to be known by Jehovah, as I recall. It basically consisted of a rehashing of Moses vs. Korah and "obey the organization" stuff. Besides, in the end, isn't it Jesus who says, "I never knew you" to those who falsely claim to do God's will? Oh yeah, that...be known by Jesus? Bah! Who needs to do that? You'll never see an article asking "Are You Known By Jesus?" that's for sure!
