If one of us apsotates or a worldly person was to have great things happen in their life don't the JW say that it is Satan rewarding them?

"Jehovah has really blessed me."
by stillin ini was at dinner with witness friends last night when one of the guys started that up.
i kept my mouth shut, let him have his say for a while; it's good to feel gratitude and i'm glad for him that he feels so blessed, but never, even in my most "spiritually healthy" days have i boasted like that.
finally, i spoke up with "how do you think that makes me, almost unemployed and struggling these days, feel?

We have a ridgeback which is the sweetest dog I have ever known. She is only six so not really old. All she wants from us is what she gives...unconditional love. Animals are the best!

much of the information was borrowed from this thread.

Sweet, are you sure you want to hold to this position? If you want to agree with the JW's on the point that if something has in any way a connection with even a slight pagan origen then you and the JW's have a lot to answer for. Just re-read the thread and reasearch what every one has said about things the JWs allow that have pagan connections, and see if you are being consistant or dare I say honest.
And as for celebrating a birthday really worshiping a false god, that is pure rubish. To worship a god, false or otherwise is a deliberate act, you can not worship by accident. If you believe the JW's to be correct and want to support them that is ok, and most here will respect that, however please be honest with yourself and hold the JW's and yourself to the same standard which you hold everyone else.

'Not defiled by women in fact they are virgins' ??
by Heartofaboy in.
can anyone enlighten me what these words at rev 14:4 means?.
this scripture was read at the memorial last night to prove the anointed come from the earth but the 'not defiled by women in fact they are virgins' part was glossed over..

So does that mean that they have to be born in JW's otherwise they would have defiled themselves with Babylon.

While I don't personally like abortions to occure, it is not up to me to decide for someone else. This guy is just a murderer looking for an excuse.

Advice on how to shed your worldly friends.

i'm living in the dorms at college right now, yes it's not the best situation for me.
i made a few friends when i arrived, but they weren't the best people even though some say they are religious, ...(they've been baptised but they don't show it).

It is so very pathetic, they will always they are persicuted for serving Jehovah, Total BS they are only "persicuted" for acting like asses and treating people like poop!
Besides telling somone that you don't agree with them is not persicution. One day it might be interesting to see some JW really percicuted, only I would not wish that upon anyone.

Some Civility
by ufo1 init is with some hesitation that i post this as i dont post too often, however i am on here every day and i do read about 95% of all threads.
i also want to say that this is not meant in any way to insult anyone, or to single out any point of view.
the reason i post this is that this site has been and continues to be a great place for helping those of us who have been hurt by the wt, and i dont want that to change.

Thanks for the replies.
I have no problem with people expressing opposing views, for that is how we learn and grow. I am all for debate and I know that when people are passionate about a topic discussions can get heated. That is just human nature.
I think that Donny got my main point, which are the personal attacks are totally unnecessary. Actually the personal attacks distract from the message one might be trying to convey.
ATJ - (My new religion is pragmatics.) Can I be a disciple?

It is with some hesitation that I post this as I don’t post too often, however I am on here every day and I do read about 95% of all threads. I also want to say that this is not meant in any way to insult anyone, or to single out any point of view.
The reason I post this is that this site has been and continues to be a great place for helping those of us who have been hurt by the WT, and I don’t want that to change. I also love the exchange of ideas on the many other subjects. I have learned so much from so many of you and continue to do so. I will always be grateful for this site and for those of you on it as you all continue to teach me and really do help in this long recovery.
However, lately I have noticed on many threads a tendency for some folks to verbally attack posters who disagree with them. While I do expect there to be many disagreements the lack of civility and mutual respect is often over the top. At times some folks will start a thread and basically post an opinion, insult anyone who doesn’t agree and then ask for folks to respond. They then seem surprised when many don’t respond. And I see this on many subjects but particularly in political and religious ones. I guess all I’m saying is let us not become like the WT and their minions and denigrate all who do not conform to our way of thinking. If we do then we are no better than those we are fleeing from.
Thanks, ufo1

Are JWs discouraged from seeking mental help?
by Kristina1972 inmy husband was raised in this religion, but was never baptized and does not go to meetings, although my mil is heavily involved.
although my husband doesn't practice his religion, he believes it is the truth and i hate asking him questions, because he is very defensive of the religion.
he and his mother, many years ago before i knew either of them, were treated for severe depression and hospitalized (at different times as a result of them going through divorces.

Thanks M.S.
I'm not sure if I spelled his mane correctly or if that is the exact title, so you may have to search a bit.
I am not in so no problem there, but I will still tell the doctor not to mention me. I'm wondering what, if any, encounters I might have with and witnesses visiting him at the same time I do.
