I, for one, find itsacult's comments wonderful in their simplicity, as it really does often boil down to that statement. However, on the note of the thread itself, it does seem rather amusing that this particular line of evidence that had so often been used in meeting after meeting can no longer be forced down the throats of those in attendance.

Introduction
by dontplaceliterature inbefore i begin my introductory post, i would like to mention that a number of my initial comments here may be viewed by several of you as watchtower apologist or as sympathetic to the views of the jehovahs witnesses.
the last thing i want to do is incite a flame war regarding my legitimacy or intentions in joining this forum.
mostly, i would describe myself as on the fence.

Welcome,
Shortly before I left, within a year of it anyhow, my entire focus was on "the love," as this was about the only thing left to hang on to. After all, "all you need is love." But then I had a very, you may say, life changing thought. If I stuck around and played along, I would be supporting a number of things I didn't agree with and a few that I simply COULD NOT any longer advocate. For instance, the blood issue. Were I to stick around, going door-to-door and not even placing any literature, but just sharing generic encouraging thoughts from the Bible itself, I could still attract people who may one day be baptised and eventually allow their spouse or child(ren) to die over a ridiculous doctrine. What if I didn't go out in service at all, but still felt obligated to contribute to the worldwide work? That support could lead to the same outcome. What if I just went inactive and showed up at most meetings with a Bible and a smile? Seeing another "happy" person there might be just enough to keep someone else locked in. You see, I simply couldn't lend any support to an organization that has been responsible for the deaths of so many people. Debatable doctrine aside (Trinity, hellfire, 144,000, Paradise, etc.) this one IS of life and death importance.
As for reading material, were I to suggest anything, I would urge you to read Combatting Cult Mind Control by S. Hassan and 1984 by G. Orwell. Of all the things I read before exiting, 1984 hit me the hardest. In that book lies very powerful illustration which, irronically, is so highly recommended as a teaching tool among the Witnesses.
Again, welcome. I hope you find your time here interesting, informative, and enjoyable.

It's a long interview, running just shy of an hour, but very informational and its source is none other than the High Priest of the Church of Satan, Peter Gilmore.

For the first time since I got out of the cult, I am now wearing a Santa hat at work. I feel worldly. I feel normal. To quote a certain Bob Wiley "I feel good, I feel great, I feel wonderful."

Check Out the Dictionary.com Word of the Day!
by Cthulhu inthe word of the day for december 14, 2010, just in time for those off to kingdom ministry school to go over the new elder's manual, is brazen.
spiritual food at the proper time, and this time from a source other than the faithful and discreet slave (aka governing body of jw's).

This just in from headquarters -
"Dear friends,
Upon further researching the word brazen, we have determined, with the help of our good friends at Dictionary.com, that is would be appropriate to not only continue in abandoning our former brazen ways, as we continue to put on the new personality, but also keep away from things that may remind us of such ways. Therefore, we feel it is in the best interest of the flock, as shepherds of that flock, to fully separate ourselves from brazen objects. That is to say, that in the same manner as we have formerly destroyed physical vestiges of wicked and brazen spirits, such as occult books and related items, we should now destroy personal items made of brass. It has come to light at a recent GB meeting, by means of a 2/3 vote of those present, that brass had in times past been a metal used by pagans and should, therefore, find no place in the home or on the person of a true follower of Jehovah God. We know that you will delight in this further dispensation of new light and work hard to rid yourself of anything that may serve to stumble yourselves or others as the end of this wicked system draws speedily to it's certain destruction.
Your Brothers,
The Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses"
Ah yes, such timely food.
