Did you get drunk/take drugs as a witness?
by wouldacouldashoulda insmoked.
got drunk.
taken drugs (non medicinal).

I was drunk more when I was in than I do now that I'm out. I suppose maybe that's because I was more depressed then. Hadn't smoked until I was in either. I only do that once in a while now, generally a cigar here and there. Didn't try pot until I was out though.

has your life been "blessed" since leaving?
by tigeress inwhile in the org we are constantly told that if we just tow the line and behave that will we be blessed and everything we want will come to us.
personaly i havn't found that to be the case in the 30 years i spent trying to tow the line.. but now i've left wonderfull things are starting to happen in my life and i'm so very happy!.
so i wondered, have you encountered more "blessings" or less since leaving?.

When I was in I had this great job...at a local YMCA camp. All was well for a few years until this dipshit MTS dude comes to town totting his spiritual pistols and says "I've come to bring law to this congregation." He carried around his little Jehover badge and started straightenin' things out PRONTO! Eventually letters were sent to the Service department and it was decided that even though there was NOTHING religious happening at the camp in the least of ways, I needed to find a new job (and place to live, since I was residing in a very nice cabin there) within three months or I was to be considered disassociated (not given even the small "courtesy" of a JC hearing. the org has certainly come a long way in how the congregation can go about showing the obvious love associated with kicking someones ass right out with the garbage). So, stupidly, I did as they asked (really that is all a story of it's own, as I am getting sick of these side comments). After that, I had to work my ass off just trying to find work. When I finally did, it occured to me "I didn't pray about finding a job. I did drive around looking for work in the dead of winter in Northern Michigan though. I did fill out countless applications, didn't I? & wasn't it me who went back to show how interested I was in the positions I'd applied for? Yeah! It was!" So that's when I realized that I needed to stop thanking god and start thanking me. Yeah, I've been blessed since leaving, and it's been blessings that I have been largely responsible for.

I got a seven inch baphomet on my left shoulder, a trapezoid/pentagram combination on my upper left, and a cthulhu underneath that. First one was worst...I briefly passed out. I was fine for the others. I actually have an appointment to get some work done on my right arm this very afternoon. It's going to be an oroboros with a modified lorraine cross worked in. How do ya post pictures on here (am still new and e-challenged)

Stretching Pierced Ear Holes
by White Dove ini saw three of my friends with extra thick earrings, like the spiral kind that get bigger as they go around, and have since wanted to do my own.
i got 10g tiny but thicker hoops and have just shoved them through enough to put the little doughnut shaped back on.
ouch.

I've never had anything pierced. I've thought about it, but it just makes me uneasy, which is irronic considering I've had three tattoos done (am actually scheduled for my fourth this afternoon). I won't get a piercing because "it might hurt" but I sat for close to three hours getting my arm beaten with a needle (the first one) and for close to two on the second.

How Did You Handle Sitting At The Meetings?
by minimus indid you pretend to listen?
did you actually follow along, listening intently?.
at the end i was listening more intently and getting more irritated by the whole sham..

Once I realized what horse shit the actual doctrinal matters were I kept going for a bit and decided "well, at least I can sit there and read my Bible." I did that for a while and then saw that the Bible itself doesn't make any sense, was often contradictory, and depicted a very self-centered, jealous, and cruel deity. So then I had no reason to go any longer.

A sister that I view as nothing less than an actual sister and I were having a conversation over lunch the other day and she asked me if I ever planned on coming back, to which I replied "there's a lot of things I see, both organizationally and doctrinally, that I just cannot agree with. If they ever cleared it all up, there is the chance that I would be more inclined to come back than I am now." She used the classic line being here discussed..."well, they are imperfect men." She wasn't ready for the logic that was to follow (granted, we are still great friends, one of the few I still have from the Hell, but she has yet to learn to use the logical reasoning part of her brain). I said "that is true. But would you accept that as an answer from someone you went to preach to that was a Catholic?" "Well no." "See the point? Why is it any different?" She had no response.

I was just discussing this on Tuesday with an active dub and his wife (two of only a handful that will still have anything to do with me). I should say I attempted to discuss. I threw a quote out there from a book I am reading that says "once a person has been brought to his knees, he or she will accept whatever master caused it" and that "most humans are masochistic, responding to fear and failure." While the author was not specifically addressing SS, it certainly made me think of this friend of mine. In any case, he has spent the better part of fifty years with the organization and didn't really want to comment a whole lot on the concept. Anyhow, I agree. While it may not be SS by defenition, the org certainly does use some similar mental tactics and they yeild common results.

Yes I am, though I follow it more practically than ritually. I would be happy to start a thread, though it may not be immediately, to give ya a summary and then ask whatever you'd like to. Keep your eyes peeled.

I was just doing a bit of research on Theosophy, which was founded by a woman named Helena Petrovna Blavastsky (1831–91). The founding of the Theosophical Society took place in 1875. This movement had three main objectives. The first focused on the formation of a universal brotherhood without regard to race, religion, sex, caste, ect. The third was to explore nature's unexplained laws and the power of man. The second, which I found rather interesting, involved encouraging the study of comparative religion, philosophy, and science. Two of these, the first and the second, sound strikingly similar to that which is/was preached by the Watchtower Society. Perhaps some of you have seen the book form of the Photo Drama of Creation. On the cover it says, if my memory serves me, something to the effect of 'religion, science, and philosophy stem from the Bible.' Granted, there were considerable differences in the theology of the two groups, but I wonder if the Theosophical Society could have had any influence on the great and powerful seer, prophet, FDS, and inspired CT. Has anyone done any research on this? A number of the basics match up and the TS was founded right around the time PastRus was getting things moving.
