Ha yeah sd-7 I'm a deep thinker and don't think to ask anyone really in real life... but on here I'm free to be a nerd and get information that helps me understand me and my life. Which is an awesome thing... as well as hoping this will help anyone else conserned or help understand theirselves. I love how I asked alot and recieved alot. I had alot to read last night and would have responded sooner but I wanted to ponder every word and then I had to go to bed (pregnancy takes a toll on my body). lol
I think what is mostly important is what is clearly written and stated in the bible... but the "deep things of god" is like poetry... It can be interpeted many ways.
Your right Jehovah's Witnesses do think they are right and have the truth... well I'm glad I found a place that shares my same ideas being open minded to possiblities, other ideas, and logical thinking. My husband is alot like that too he has given me a book on Morals.. it's a book he had to read in college, writen by a psychologist... It's not really religious but gives a different view point that is very logical and interesting.
Interesting you did mention Greek and Hebrew... as far as history of Christianity I need to do my checking... the only thing I really have paid attention to in history was American culture a little breif of World Literature (required class in High School) and for a religious standpoint the video tape of the Bible by Jehovah's Witnesses.
So how did you find out Jesus was not an archangel? Just curious because I never really looked into that.
War in my opinion I would like to avoid. But it's hard not to face because now you hear "support our troops" or "be proud to be an american". I have been raised as a JW so it makes me want to hide under a rock. I respect the governments roll for the country, for it's protection but I can't necessarly say I support anything political.
I respect the verity of christian view points in love, faith, and hope in God but I can't necessarly say I support one idea over another either.
I know one day I may have to face this and what will I choice what side will I be on? It may matter one day when someone with a gun to my head tells me to choose! (a bit of an exaggeration) So I'm doing my research and trying to decover a new idenity for myself.
Fully convenced is my thought on things. So got any good suggestions where I should look into on maybe answering a little more?

Did you Fade Gradually or Stop Attending Meetings Quickly ? Reasons ?
by flipper inbeen thinking about this and curious about what makes us all come to the decisions we came to in our fade/exiting the jw organization.. i think for myself having been born-in & raised a jw my doubts about the generation doctrine had simmered for years within me quietly and by the time i finally left in 2003 i had reached my breaking point.
also seeing unjust treatment of rank & file witness ( myself included ) just propelled me into my decision even quicker.
so - one day after meeting with 3 elders in a back room before a meeting and seeing their judgmental aggression towards me - i just told myself " enough is enough ".

It's easy to stop attending meetings. I did it instantly the first time as a Jehovah's Witness in the past being unbaptised publisher. But my reasons was more... being tired of hearing the same crap over and over. When I stopped after baptism... and publicly reproved... it was because of shame... I went to my grandparents hall and then from there got publicly reproved again but shortly after DFed. I didn't stop going to meetings to try and get back in asap. After getting back in I stopped going because I hated how I got the love bombing as they say and then all of a sudden the rude cold shoulder... I felt what did I do now. So not only did I quit, I went back into my bad ways. I got DFed again. This time I said I wouldn't go back til I knew in my heart I was ready. I found out a whole bunch of things that now prevent me from going back not out of sham or because of sociel reasons but because I doubt their belief. I seen both sides of the story and now i see proof they aren't the only true channel as I once believed... which is such a relief on my part because now I don't feel obligated to doom being DFed and all! :)

...on the subject decussed here:
-do true christians go to war
-is it right to take up arm
-is the teaching of one way over another even when backed by the bible totally right or the truth (basicly both sides show proof of their beleif)... if they were both right, isn't that contradiction... how do you know which is right or whither it matters which is right in your opinion
example the beleif of Trinity, Hell, or God's purpose for the Earth
Comments are incouraged especially if you have an active Jehovah's Witness wife or husband... how do you view their ideas/beleifs or how do they view your ideas/beleifs.

this is sorta directed to you as asking rather then telling... i am studying the bible and go to many teachers/sources of the bible... (my sins are being paid for and thus my credit as a christian in no way is held high enough to make claims of im right or your wrong in the eyes of a jw, but im still being humble and live now according to gods standards with my study in the bible and christian believes, so be open minded to the facts of my credit to your idea of standards) my views are expressed below thru use of the bible regarding the comment you made on this thread.... .

Birthdays: Anniversaries of baby showers?
by alamb inwell, aren't they?
my jw father is arguing with me about holidays and birthdays so i asked him what baby showers were and how they differed from birthdays?
if mother's day and father's day are wrong, how is a baby's day (shower) not idolatry too?.
-
Butterflyleia85
lol I never heard of that... Interesting. Jehovah's Witnesses have wedding anniversaries too... Jesus went to festables etc but it wasn't bad. JW can party too and it's not bad... the bad in JW thinking is if the bible has anything to say negatively against the festable, celebration, or tridition... but what they don't see is why we celebrate holidays or birthdays, let it be their conscience but I found prouf with the bible that guides my conscience into saying it's ok to celebrate such things.

Great answer! Thanks for sharing... and yes I totally agree. That's the thinking of my husband and he had talked to me about his beliefs being just a Christian... and I only knowing Jehovah's Witness stand point. But now I kinda feel the need to go back to my roots as to see if I am right or ok to think this way... just to get a more balanced opinion on verity of beliefs.
See my husband works for the federal government and in the past I asked him if he was ever made to go to war what would he do? And as far as his religion what's his opinion on others... they take a more liberal aproach and I see his point and now agree with it. So now I tend to wonder, how an active Jehovah's Witness would respond to this.
I do love any or anyones comments I guess I should have left active JW out because mostly it's the sincere ones I want to hear. Especially from somone who lives with an active JW. What responce would they make to what I just said?

If you could ask one question to an active JW to get them to open their mind about their beliefs, what would it be?
by Franklin Massey inthis question was posed to me by a poster named ice cream.
i don't know my answer yet.
it's one of those, "if you could have just one wish.." kind of questions.

Butterflyleia85
I agree with some that say one question isn't going to open their minds... they'd answer it in any way they can and may even research it enough to be satisfied that there is an answer for it... the logic and digging wouldn't go to far because of the belief of not putting God to the test (Due. 6:16) or beyond their own reasoning (Jehovah's Witness reasoning that is).
They have a blockage... like I once did. "We are happy and faithful Jehovah's Witnesses why challenge it?? We put our hope, faith and love in Jehovah so surely He will do his part and provide servants to revile the spiritual food for them (Faithful and Discreet Slave Class) to help explain the deep things to us (God's sheep)."
But I doubt they realize how but is hidden in Governing Body... Wolves in Sheep’s clothing... we all had once become victim too.
One question would be to see why they believe or what makes them believe? (Leading to the next question) Would this motivate them to do what's right or true even if it meant sacrificing their “safe haven” in a false religion, where friends and families are? (To the next) How far does God truly hold on waiting on him (like the JW believe) over letting men lead men (as what they really are doing in all sense)?
Basically what makes your believes right over anyone else’s? Is what I would ask to get them open their minds into realizing they do put a pedestal on their religion… the only way to true religion… that’s what all religions believe and they all have their own interpretation that make since in their way… it’s truly what the individual wants to believe and allows himself to be exposed to.
If they are happy then fine let them be in their bubble but if they think they are not persecuting when they shun, forbid, or use name calling… even toward their families… maybe they aren’t directly but someone else says this in their talks or mentions it in the literature they believe so strongly in as a way to truly understanding the correct translation of the Bible… do they not stand up for the weak sheep? Do they still continue supporting their ideas because they are afraid?
I stated a thread so as not to change the subject on this form
It’s a question more so based on Elpiro’s comment here… all comments are welcomed!!

He would have to show me that the watchtower is wrong in not participating in wars like the rest of the so-called Christians
That the watchtower is wrong in putting it’s faith in the kingdom and not man
That Christians are spread out in all sorts of organizations that think so differently about God they even go to war over it
He would have to show me that the WATCHTOWER is wrong regarding
The trinity
Hell
The purpose of God 4 the earth
That type of thing
The question is not whither it is wrong not to participate in WAR but whither God allows a true Christians to participate in War…
Is it wrong to judge another Christian (Christdom and Jehovah’s Witnesses are no different, just putting labels are wrong, a form of judgment) for standing up for what is rightfully theirs and for the good of others, which God gave them? Applying these scriptures
To bear arms…Luke 11:12
- John the Baptist when asked by soldiers what they should do, didn't tell them to drop their arms and quit being soldiers, the conversation went like this: "Even some soldiers were asking him, "And what should we do?" He told them, "Never extort money from anyone by threats or blackmail, and be satisfied with your pay." (Luke 3:14)
Jesus, when speaking with the Roman Centurion, didn't tell him to quit being a soldier, instead the conversation went like this: "For I, too, am a man under authority and have soldiers under me. I say to one 'Go' and he goes, to another 'Come' and he comes, and to my servant 'Do this' and he does it." When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those who were following him, "Truly I tell you, not even in Israel have I found this kind of faith!" (Matthew 8:9-10) He was commended for his faith, and not condemned for being a soldier.
There is no inconsistency with faith and service as a soldier.
To be misinformed about what is really leading them… maybe in their hearts they believe they ARE being lead by God’s Kingdom like Jehovah’s Witnesses believe and they do what is faithful to God’s Standards (but for outsiders that feel differently like Jehovah’s Witnesses).
But really who guides their thinking or interprets how they guide their conscience… implying national governments, religious governments (including Jehovah’s Witnesses), or social leaders.
Jehovah’s Witness do have another form of violence and/or evil that they turn their heads toward, they discipline their children with use of the rode, is that not violence? They deceived or use trickery of words as a tool of vengeance or self-vindication. Yes even they go to war with one another in a smaller scale, like gangs in cities, but the Governing Body step in using Disfellowshipment… like Police in the city. It’s all depending on who controls… but still it’s man.
God told ones to Stand UP for the TRUTH… but also to pay Caesars things to Caesar. Eph.6:11-18; Matthew 5:39b; Matthew 22:21
As far as Trinity, Hell, and purpose of God for the Earth. You would be very surprised to know that Jehovah’s Witnesses were not the first to discover similar beliefs.
Buddhism , Confucianism , Hare Krishna , Hinduism , Black Islam, Jainism , Judaism , Rastafarianism , Gypsies , Shinto, Sikhism, Taoism , Vedanta , Agnosticism, Atheism, Marxism , Naturalism , Secular Humanism , Necromancy, Rosicrucianism , Wicca, Christian Science , New Age, Scientology , Theosophy , Transcendental Meditation , Unitarian Universalist, The Way International, The Boston Church, Children of God, and even Tarot Cards .
And for me personally I was studying with Latter Day of Saints who are a form of Mormon who don’t believe in Hell but believe in spreading the “Good News” that there will be a earthly paradise and God, Jesus and Holy Spirit aren’t all one in the same since. But that was just one religion I encountered with other then my born and raised religion as a Jehovah’s Witness, I have had friends at school that were in other churches that taught that hell is just an idea and trinity as just an idea… so if there are ones like these that have similar beliefs as ours (being raised as a JW) and even our religion has it’s imperfect flaws with predictions, doctrines, interpretations… what right do we have to JUDGE other Christians??
So am I to far off to make these statements? As you know I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness so you can reilliterate the scriptures or examples used, but please consider my statemetns too and explain where I maybe far off?

Ha yeah well I envy all the ones who never got baptised now!!
Geez it's not fair seeing half my family who were raised or around Jehovah's Witnesses knowing fully how it works and never get baptised but still talk to the ones and going to family events!! But me heck no... the one that was praised for being such a good girl, such a spiritual girl, who got baptised for the right reasons... well now look at her... she's DFed... it's not that she's bad, she just made a bad decisions that got her in trouble and disfellowshipped... not being able to talk or hang out with family like normal... I say normal because my some close family members are back in forth about it... they will talk to me or visit. But it's all kinda secretive. But honestly and really I am so so fortunite some of my friends that were dfed never got that... family never ever talking to them. It takes a strong (secure) person to be ok with themselves, move on, but yet shunned and looked down on by loved ones.
Any who, my advice is (one who knows how it works)... wait! seriously wait!
