Hi everyone I havent been on here for awhile cause I have a month old I been taking care off (he is crying now as we speak)
But I WENT to the Memorial and took my new born son (month old)!
I went because my sister... I never plan on going back but I do want to show a jester for my sister of kindness and respect. (one day I'd love to join a good church and invite her and see if she'd go!hahaha yeah right like she go!!)
But I showed her that kind jester because she is talking to me again.. I have my son to thank for that! But the day before she spent all day visiting with me (she is a ag. Pioneer) and I'm disfellowshiped! I am so happy she is starting to show more love from her heart then the cold hearted side of JWs.

What makes people ok with shunning?
by Butterflyleia85 init almost seems easy to some... or like a weird funny feeling like they are doing something wrong if they go against something inside of them and actually speak to marked (people they are told to shun) people.. (sorry to be bias in this but only exaggerate circumstances to make my point).
jehovah's witness for one are known to shun disfellowshipped members.. but also there is:.
popular kids at schools who shun unpopular kids at school.. rich people who ignore poor people.. some whites that are still racest shun black and vs.. some older proper/religious ones with high moral standards shunn or at least look down one the rebels.. ...seriously does it make life easier for them or something?.

Thanks for everyone's comments. I agree with alot here it's just easier for them. (sigh)
Making them change...
Yeah being in a different envoriment or facing life on the other side (as I did when I became DFed).
When is it ok...
Personally I never felt it was ok but I have to admit it's hard to stand up and speak up for someone else especially a stranger at times especially if your shy or don't feel like it's your place... I'm no hero but what would get me to really stand up or speak out is if it happened to my close family or close friends. But I honestly and regretfully say I have past many homeless people ignoring them down town, have ignored in high school chances to stand up for a nerd getting picked on, listen to my old relitives say rude things behind a person's back and not say anything... and sadly shunned my own aunt because she was Dfed when I grow up, til I was in my 20's and started rebeling.
I can now say though when I hit 20 my personality changed! I stood up to stangers for stangers. I speak up when someone feels like they don't have the voice or heart too. I no long will talerate getting walked on or let others get walked on. It's in me now. I just hope I don't seem to be intervining to much... but because of all those years of reget I felt the need to make up for it.
That was my point of this topic. I wanted to see verity of opinions on this topic to make sure I get a balanced view of this.
I also one day hope I can help others either stand up for themselves or have the confidance to stand up for others.
All those who think it's wrong to shun but do it... why do it? what's holding you back from talking to that person? Maybe it's not them but you... maybe they are wrong but think they are right... how would they no if they aren't being communicated too or perswayed... better word I guess is explained to. See I made alot of mistakes in my life but I am an understanding person and I like to do what's right... But if I feel I'm doing right I'm going to keep doing it... without an explination to why, then I don't see the importance of or the right to change. I am open minded and a person who welcomes idea's to develop my reasonings in this life. Does shunning really solve anything? Or does it cause more greef and sorrow even anger? Isn't this actually a rude and un-neighborly act as some mentioned here? Isn't this what we call irretating our childern? Or disrespecting our parents?
Think about it! (To those that get it, man it's like talking to a brick wall... as I type this out I realize this is what I wish I could say to those shunning but how do you get a deaf person to hear you... it just seems sometimes unrealistic or a dream, that one day the person in a coma will wake up... if it happens it happens... but don't hold your breath)

And most importantly when is it right to shun or is it really right at all?

What is "the Kingdom"?
by Darth Eowyn ini have been lurking for a couple of months and decided to join because i wanted to get further information.. i am not a jw, ex jw, or even considering becoming a jw.

Dreamed my JW Daughter Shunned me in the Grocery Store and..........
by flipper inthen i woke up and realized it's a scenario that's happening anyway in my life as she's shunning me in reality.
this is my older daughter ( 23 ) who i was really close to when she was a teenager.
but since my fade of 7 years - she and her younger sister have virtually totally shunned me .

(((Hugs to you Mr. Flipper)))
I have dreams like that all the time of my sister, she's married, baptised pioneer at age 20 (soon to be 21 Feb. 4th). She wants to keep in touch as far as me being pregnant goes but still I feel more silence then love. I feel it will never be the same because like you and your daughter, I was so close with my sister.
I can relate though so much, in that my dad was potrade to me as an evil man (which he was but my mom's anger and hurt just came off that way more so) so I had prejudge thoughts before I even got to reunite with him (being old enought to make my own decisions I wanted to know his side too) but didn't give up on him and wanted to know why. One day your daughter will want that! Keep showing your love and consern... one day she will ask why and want to know your reasoning and hopefully her consern for you and love for you will over ride the mind control of the Organization that has her. I know it did me... and I also pray and hope that one day my love and consern will win my sister over... and her love and concern for me will over ride the mind control of the Organization.
Right now I have high hopes (using my grandma and her sister as an example) because see my great aunt isn't a JW and yet my JW grandma is so close to her right now. One day that will be me and my sister... I maybe DFed but one day she will just see me as just a nonJW hopefully and we will be close. I will be patient with her and learn from how my aunt respects my grandma and see where that leads them. I guess in the past grandma use to shun my great aunt and maybe see her once and a great while... but after my grandpa died (who was an elder), my grandma and great aunt are unseperable.
Always have hope and keep positive... it what keeps people like us going. :)

We are co-creators that were put here to fix an imperfect world, not squatters living on a planet that we screwed up after it was given to us in "perfect" condition. That is the BIG LIE of the Bible.
hmmm... is there proof to this statement.
