just as i am new to this site and many web thingy's, my daughter just introduced me to facebook.
"must get with it dad!".
so, i'm looking over my nephews facebook last night, glancing at his friends.
I bet this guy (now) is very thankful that he was forced to have blood back in the day. Lots of us have regrets for things we did or that happened while we were in, but sometimes there were people that had to say no, because it was expected and there was pressure for them to say no, but they were secretly relieved to have it forced on them, even if they felt guilty for feeling that way. Does that make any sense? Can you imagine his feelings after living with that and then he finds out that all those teachings were a crock of shit and they almost took his life? (and this could just be my imagination working overtime) nevertheless...Wow

about a week or two ago i watched a documentary about the flood in noah's day entitled "in search of noah's ark".
two things i found very interesting in this program is a theory that one person had about how they believed the flood was caused due to a meteor hitting the ocean creating a tsunami that flooded the entire earth.
scientist were unanimous in their view that this is a very plausible scenario and that there is no way to rule this possibility out.
Actually, Leolaia, I've heard from Perry before too. I used to be a poster on this forum a long time ago as gretchen956, and I remember you and I have had some interaction in the past. I can't make a profile yet, so I just don't worry about making a disclaimer to every single post I make about "you used to know me under a different name.'
I enjoy reading your posts.

is it just me, but when i read my bible (nwt) i found whole pages of pauls writing that i didn't understand and couldn't make head nor tail of.
i also noticed that the borg tended to only quote certain scriptures that they thought they could make sense of pauls writings, and these were quoted over and over again.
but surely the whole bible is supposed to be inspired and benifical ... bla bla bla etc?.
I hate Paul. He hated women, was a control freak, and begat the patriarchy - which down through time engendered the inquisition, and many other atrocities, not to mention he's one of the cornerstones of the fundamentalists brand of religion today. It seems to me Paul's teachings fit more into the old testament style than the new. There's a total disconnect between his teachings and Jesus'.

Perry,
I'm confused why you would rather believe an article about what Mary purports to have found and said, which has been spun to conform to someone's agenda, rather than her very own words which have been forwarded directly to you in response to your claims here in this thread.

under the study article " you are my friends " ( indicating jesus naturally by his quote ) the wt society makes it very clear that the only way to be jesus friend is to come through them or else you won't be approved by jesus or god.
translation : friendship with jesus = treating the " faithful slave " kindly = jesus approving you.
our jw relatives will be studying this in december at their meetings.. under the subheading on pg.
Wow, good thing I have enough friends without worrying about that Jesus dude, he hangs with a tough crowd.

well, i made my move from puerto rico and have been staying with jw family for a few weeks now.
needless to say, they are as "into it" as ever before.
they started pioneering the first of september.
There is nothing on this earth that could induce me to go to a meeting. I have suffered enough abuse in my life time, with the permission of that cult. My family is so screwed up I can't even be around them, you can't have a normal conversation with any of them it all has to have something to do with the "truth" or a meeting or service or some other horse patootie. You must have the patience of a SAINT.
RUN! If you let that much out and think its just a little, staying much longer is going to get you to really speak your mind, that might be interesting. I think if you want to preserve any kind of relationship with them you should leave there for more than a visit, the guard is already up after what you said. If I had said that to my parents the JC would have me hauled in the very next day.

Nope, just that you stated all men were liars and didn't mention womyn.

Unfortunately, Perry, men wrote the bible too. So you're up that infamous creek without a paddle, my friend. First you came on and told us about this unrefutable evidence, about you talking to the dinosaur man yourself and now you tell me that men are all liars. Sure is nice to be a womyn some days.

a jw called my wife to talk business yesterday, and voluntarily mentioned her son was living with them again.. now you have to understand, we have not associated with the jw's for 13 plus years.
so it took my wife by surprise that a jw, knowing our situation, would mention this.
but it gets better, there is more to this story.. she then volunteered, he's been living at home with them for over a year since.......bethel "re-assigned" him as she said sarcastically.. "how long was he at bethel?
I think your friend's venting is the first stirrings of her mind clicking over into the "on" position. Give her and her son time, they'll figure it out. Once your brain turns on you find it very difficult to shut it off again.
