"are you a jehovah?"
by sweet ini love it when i hear people ask jws "are you a jehovah?
" i silently laugh and say to myself "nope, they are not god.
they are as human as you and i are.

Waiting on the faithful and discreet slave b.s...
by DJPoetech ini was just considering what really made me question the witnesses enough to investigate them and search other sources for information.. they often say stuff about "waiting on jehovah" or "wait for the brothers".
i got concerned because the witnesses were getting between my brain and my mouth.
that was way too close for comfort without a good reason why.

Good thread. I think once a person recognises that the Faithful and Discreet Slave was a parable for illustrative purposes, and not anything more, freedom isn't that far away. It reminds me of the movie Scarface with Pacino, when he shot the crooked cop. The cop was like, "you can't shoot a cop!", as he was holding his stomach where the bullet entered. Scarface replied, "whoever said you was one?" Then he blasted him again. Sky was the limit for Tony at that point. I look at it the same way mentally with this organization. We've shot the WTS doctrine of being the Faithful and Discreet Slave, and they responded, "you can't shoot God's chosen organization!" We responded, "whoever said you were God's chosed organization?"

NFL Kick-Off
by XJW4EVR inok, not really, but i had to much to do on thursday to post.
so who are you picking?.
i am glad to see my 49ers back in contention, though i believe that seattle will give them a run for their money.. my superbowl picks?

Remember, last year was the first legitimate playoff win they have had in the last - what, eleven years? And I don't see significant improvements this year.
I guess your right man. Sheesh, that is sad. Romo has been in there what 3-4 years? Watching him drive down the field last night shows what he's capable of, but there's something missing at Dallas. Not exactly sure what.
I'm sticking to my guns on Shanahan looking like Bush W.

hardly better than 8-8 JWoods? Thats a pretty low expectation of them. I figured them better than a wildcard team at least. I agree though its too early to call anything just yet. I know Washington isn't official yet, but the way they ran the ball last night, that was definately Shanahan's influence.
Is it me or does Shanahan look like George W.?

Go Cowboys!!!!
*I was so sad yesterday. What an exciting last couple of minutes... and then to win in the last three seconds... and then... sadness, sadness...*
Yeah that was crazy!!! I couldn't believe that. They kept putting the camera on Barron too LOL. I kinda felt bad for him. He had like three holding calls last night!!! Washington fumbling the field goal snap reminded me of Romo from a couple years ago.

That Cowboys/Redskins game was a beauty. I feel cheated. That Dallas game was the only game I saw yesterday. I passed out for a good 6 hours or so after the meeting. That will not happen again! Especially since we've got the early meeting as of now. Come the beginning of the year, our meeting will be at 2pm, so I'll miss quite a few games. You can see Mike Shanahan's influence on the Redskins. I've never been a fan of Washington, but I'll be glad to see them competative again. Mike Vick looked good from what I saw on SportsCenter. I'm glad Wes Welker is back. I hated to see him go down last year. The Titans are gonna be a problem this year. If they carry over the momentum from last year after losing the first 6 straight, they're capable of being contenders.

Personally I don't see anything abnormal about it. I went out in field service today, and ran into a guy who's traveling to one of the Carolinas with his girlfriend. I saw people today walking their dogs, shopping, spending time with family. I don't believe life should stop on the anniversary of a tragedy. Especially a happy occasion like a wedding.

What's the best cover version of a song you've ever heard?
by VampireDCLXV inthe title pretty much says it all.. it's true that there are many classics that simply can't be topped but it doesn't stop people from trying anyway.
and what do ya know; occasionally someone does succeed.
here i will post at least one notable example.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-o9gf_sofbm&p=301f39587863d18d&playnext=1&index=3.

One last one and then I've gotta crash.....this might be somewhat off topic as its a hip hop song that sampled a hippie song. The way the sample was flipped is serious business though.
The band was called Potter St. Cloud with the song Open Letter........

Here's the Clipse song that samples Open Letter, called Freedom..........I had this on constant replay last year.
