i was announced as no longer an unbaptised publisher when i was 15 because i wouldnt stop listening to rap music. i was treated as a worldly person, but not shunned. it was fucked up though.
Wow. Funny, cuz I still listen to rap music.
said one of the 2 elders to me when i had to talk with them at the 'back room'.
"i will never forget these words.
"we" excludes god right?.

miseryloveselders, I have always known it to be announced...unless something has changed in recent years. I do not currently have access to the Organization book...but it is probably detailed in there.
I was definitely announced as 'no longer an unbapt pub', and heard that announced a few times over the years...less often than dfings though.
Maybe thats why I don't recollect ever hearing it. I've probably heard it, but its so far and few in between that it seems like I've never heard it. I rarely see new unbaptized publishers with the exception of born in children and teenagers. Rarely do I see it with studies.

Isaac, I'm surprised they announced that. All my years I've never heard it announced from the platform that one was no longer an unbaptized publisher. Dont' get me wrong, I'm not questioning you, but I've never seen that. That's crazy. Or maybe I'm misreading what you said. Is that how it was done 20 something years ago?
today i read a newspaper columnist who wrote something that caught my attention:.
"...obedience is a natural response to effective leadership, and this is true regardless of whether the people being led are adults or children.".
now, think about the gb.. virtually every wt "study edition" contains at least one, if not several, reminders about how we should "obey the gb".. dozens of the songs in the new song book extol how worthy of obedience & devotion the gb is.. each assembly & convention features dozens of reminders on how important it is to be obedient & submissive to the gb.. service meeting parts routinely offer "loving reminders" of how jws should obey the gb re: conventions, literature, donations, etc.. .
The governing body itself was presented as a harmonious sharing of authority, making the society less dictatorial. And look at them now - just like the Cardinals and Pope of the Roman Catholic Church that they hate so much. I made the mistake of comparing the GB to clergy in other religions to my mom. After she heard what I said, her eyes had a look of befuddlement, and then her voice raised to the point where I asked her, "why are you yelling?" She's like, "I'm not yelling!" I'm sure plenty of people see this trend of worshiping the GB as disturbing. Its evidenced by all the newbies here as of late. I never thought I see the day I'd be singing about the Faithful Slave at the meeting LOL.
this is a little bit of a rant but i need to vent.
so i apologize if some things aren't clear.
just ask and i will do my best to explain.. i'm really trying to be patient with my wife.
I know what you mean COC, its mind boggling. That article, "No One Should Be Made to Choose" was a definately a humdinger. There's a reason why that article was in the Awake for public consumption. Can you imagine if that article would have been a study article for the congregation WT Study? It'd would have planted a lot more apostate seeds than currently exist. It just goes to show how methodical and underhanded the GB and the Writing Department is. It's encouraged to be like the Boreans when it comes to any other religion, primarily other Christian faiths. When it comes to the JW faith, you're not supposed to question anything. They don't give you any room to agree to disagree on anything. And if you do have the studious inclination to dig in deep and develope a logical reason for not toeing the line, the've got the ultimate trump card, your family and close friends. Then they have the audacity to tell the public and even themselves, that this religion doesn't break up families. GTHOH!!
I agree with you about things that cannot be absolutely proven, and having to support these doctrinal theories can be a real struggle at times. I was thinking about this last night coming home from work. I got to thinking how the Israelites witnessed things that one would consider supernatural today. If I saw fire come out of the sky and incinerate some rebellious folks in the camp, I wouldn't question anything from that point onward. One doesn't forget something like that. Or if I saw a sea split to allow myself and people escape and then close over my enemies, I'd be on board, not questioning anything. Yet the Israelites continued to question things and forget what Jehovah had done for them. Either the entire nation suffered with Alzheimer's on steroids, or the Bible isn't telling the whole story. People today have life altering situations, that completely change the way they think and act. Apparently not the Israelites after seeing some crazy things. Fast forward to 2010, and some old kooks in New York are asking me, cough cough, excuse me, telling me that if I don't recognize their book publishing company as God's chosen organization I'm going to be destroyed? If I question their track record, history, and questionable doctrines, I can possibly, well actually, I will lose my family, close friends, and in some cases my livelyhood? This is especially troubling if one has spent decades busting his or hair tail for this organization. Ray Franz put it I believe, with one stroke they completely erased all that he had done for this organization. Its sad, really really sad how much of a powertrip these people are on.

wt november 15, 2010 young ones targeted.
the articles to be studied in january include:.
young ones be guided by gods word.
They're really hurting when it comes to young people. I fed the speaker a couple weeks ago, and I asked about three baptized brothers who were doing quite well, but have fallen off from what I had heard. He confirmed what I pretty much already knew. Then he shook his head and said its like that with all the young brothers. They just don't reach out any more. I've said before on here, I've given talks in all kinds of halls, and the young people just don't seem motivated. All the dudes I came up with minus one and myself, have left. There's a side of me that really respects this younger generation. I feel like an idiot thinking back on all that nonsense I was doing. Running mics, stage, attendant, giving 45 minute talks as a MS, now 30 minute talks, maintenance work, field service, the checking acounts, didn't go to college, etc.. All this bull shyt and what do I have to show for it? Zilch, absolutely nothing. It's a religion of usery. I really tip my hat to these young folks today, particulary males. They've got more courage than I ever had.
As far as the internet is concerned, I laugh as a born in. If I wasn't born in, and a couple JWs just happened to come to my door. After accepting their literature and saying good bye, the first thing I'd do is hit the internet to see the pros and cons of being a JW. Or to see their history, their unadulterated history. Its almost guaranteed, anybody whose honest with themselves, and some smarts will not get involved with JWs after researching them.
right now, i am hearing foals' "total life forever".
also been playing these albums a lot lately:.
groove armada's "black light".
Interesting article. Those soldiers experiences remind me somewhat of growing up as a JW, and being in school during holiday season. Very awkward. Pressured by the school and students to participate, but at the same time pressured by my own parents and this religion. I swear on this planet, there's no shortage of people who want to tell you what to do and how to think.
I don't agree with the WT's interpretation of Babylon the Great. However, articles like this make you wonder if the WT is onto something. How are you going to force soldiers to go listen to a Evangelical Christian rock band, and then punish them for not attending?
i love psychedelic music.
some of my favorites include the beatles' "blue jay way", .
the beastie boys' "namaste",.
I heard this on the radio one day..........I still get chills.
